So it appears =)

It was so lonely here, and cold. The companion knew, but she hadn’t said anything, she hadn’t complained to anyone, she never just turned the damn heat up—that was the mystery, that was the secret.

This to me implies a person who controls the weather and the terrain. That's the mystery, that was the secret...

only the rage that burns inside my chest.

A man who had become a reaver and who would never see his wife agin might feel a lot of rage as he was becoming what he was.

I needed comfort. It would be some time before we would be reunited with the others, and I had so much to learn.

He had hoped to be reunited with his wife, it says so in his bio. It also says that he went to the academy and learned, mentioning him as not a particularly good student.

From the first SK hit..

The SK sabotaged the ship... not brilliantly but well enough. Ivan's wife had that knowledge its not inconcievable that he didn't pick up enough to know how to break it. Its far easier to break things than it is to fix it.

Talking about the altar perhaps it doesn't apply to the shepard but is a reference to this quote from Ivan's bio.

Ivan's father once told him that by terraforming, they were as powerful as God.

Fish is one of the things needed in terraforming as well as I recall from geeky days of sci fi reading so perhaps this is a reference to that and not to biblical use for it.

It could be either of them I suppose or this could be totally wrong but the second hit seems to point more toward Ivan.

Since self defense is the theme of the day, I'll bite. Now one of the downsides of actualy writing a decent bio, is that the shere amount of evidence can come to bite you in the ass.

Now for reavers, heres some typical facts about reavers. First reavers are hyper-aggressive pack hunters (cannibals) thriving on outer reaches of space. Now from the series and movie, you learn that after one is exposed to the reaver ways, they become reavers themselves (or at least begin to turn into one). Now essiantly this leaves them alone in their own mindset (I'm assuming this helps the process) as they change into a reaver. When the change occurs most likely coincides with the return of the reaver pack, whereby he will be reunited with his family of psychos.

If you seen the third ? episode of Firefly, they encountered a reaver ravaged ship. Now if Firefly hadn't come across it, chances are it would procede as above. The lone man onboard would turn into a reaver, and would then be rejoined with the return of the reavers. Also, Reaver ships themselves run at high temperatures and have leaking engine cores, this suites their savage ways.

Reaver ship:

So really this kinda of counters the evidence, as its standard reaver flare. Now what we can get evidence is as follows:

The thing that strikes me about the whole kill, is the "graceful" and beautiful theme of it. Sure its disturbing, but I guess thats what happens to a reaver.

Take this quote for example:

How strange to think of things in such terms when slaughter is so timeless; the world dissolves into nothing more than the weight of the blade, the flow of the blood.

This to me shows that the killer is obviously one of great grace. A bell dancer, as a part of a dance troupe, would fit this. Her body would flow with the grace of her dance.

Pei Pei never got nervous. her hands and rhythm remained steady. This quality earned her the respect..

Now another theme about the SK hit was pain and agony. Now of course this is obviously something that all reavers feel, but it seems to be a focal point here:

anger:

only the rage that burns inside my chest.

pain:

his one though, she feels the pain of others and I wonder what she feels now, when she is in so much pain herself. I wonder if she feels the sharp needles I drive under my own skin; not where anyone can see, not yet, but I am compelled to change.

Now the only good fit I can see for this, is the pain and anger felt by Pei Pei. Her sole passion was dance. She was kicked out of her group, and betrayed. Obviously this would cause not only anger, but great pain, as she could not express herself with dance anymore.

Shortly afterwards, she was released from the group for being "too old". Confused, angry, and sad Pei Pei wandered around for a time wearing he

The pain bothers her so much that she was willing to dance for anyone who was willing:

Pei Pei wandered around for a time wearing her costume and playing the solo for any who would listen.

And so what do we have in the sk scene?

I had hoped she would remain conscious, to be aware, as she was more so in life then any I had ever met,

I believe that in this quote she wanted her victim to be aware of the pain she had suffered, but she died too early for her to truely express her thanks in being a "receptive" audience.

but she slipped away before I could release her heart from its cage, bring the throbbing mass to my lips, and kiss her more deeply then she knew was possible.

Ok, now for Mafia:

Now the first day we lynched Maelarya, although she claimed she was townie (as she does any game anyways), we really didn't get any evidence to say if she was really mafia or not. Anyways, heres my take on the whole mafia situation:

With this in mind, the only person other who has the near physical stature to toss the throw away character (Day 1 kill) is Marko:

’m in decent physical shape and can handle myself in a fight pretty well,

Not only that, Marko is quote intelligent:

What I do know; I got a ‘thing’ for languages and numbers,

Obviously, as per the crate opening on the first day kill, they would need someone good with numbers to crack the crate code (assuming it was locked that way).

Now for Day two kills:

The only thing of note I can see in here is that there is maybe 3-4 mafia (at that time). The leader, with this quote:

“Somehow I doubt that. Guess this plan is a wash in any case, between the unexpected guest and the little girl going into the shuttle. We’ll have to find another way to get to a terminal.”

Is obviously well versed in language and not an uneducated idiot, this somewhat points to marko with his language skills. It could also be the con artist dude, or companions, since all of these people would have quite abit of vocal training / skill. Not that I want to point fingers in multiple directions, its just that scene two didn't give us alot.

Easier clues for scene 3 plz

Wow you make some good points. Now I'm not so sure. I guess I'll vote and hope to knock off a mafia member and leave the Sk for another round.

Eliham, don't confuse Marko with Marconi. I noticed you voted "Marconi" in the lynch thread.

Er, you want to see it literally or you want me to tell you what happens?

I flip a coin to decide if both live or both die.

Wouldn't that be something to get a mafia member and the serial killer in one lynching?

On the flip of a coin, what if both live? I hope the coin is flipped at the time the voting closes (which was a minute ago by my clock). People gotta sleep tonight, after all.
