WTF PWNED

Friend of mine showed me this link http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54072 - it's quite the eye opener. This is a perfect example of how light c/c (commonly known as fluff) can really ill prepare someone for a harsher more ambitious art board that showcases a more experienced level of artists.

It's painful, beware O_o

That's one thing that I personally believe is the bad part about the internet. On the one hand, it gives you more resources to improve all your work. On the other hand, most people seem to piss that away and use it only for back-patting and praises and eventually buy into their own hype.

and it didnt stop there. I've tried to make polite suggestions for all three of his posts. I have no idea why I keep banging my head against the wall. This last post he seems to be struggling to not be an ass but .... he's already pissed so many people off its just hard not for anything he posts to not turn into a brawling flame-fest

Wow they already locked that thread. I'm amazed that he doesn't see how arrogant he sounds. 'I'm only reading the first 10 comments'. WTF? Seriously, people are wasting good c/c on him when other posters who want serious c/c aren't getting dick.

A lot of people are amused by a challenge. In this case the challenge would be to get Mr Ego to see that currently his art doesn't live up to his monumental view of himself and that he should shut up, sit down and listen to the advice that is being given. Of course with that ego seems to have come a set of ear plugs and blinders; its a lost cause so long as there are other people somewhere telling him how wonderful it is and how he should be an artist. (which isn't to say he shouldn't, but being an artist and a successful artist are two different things, and the second would involve a honest look at your artwork and a constant quest to improve and evolve.)

I saw an interesting quote once regarding this. it was 'kill your darlings'. meaning dont get so attached to your work that you cant fix what's wrong.
