my IE sucks :(

ever since i got my new computer, some sites i see in IE show this ugly font even if its set in the HTML/CSS. and i cannot figure out how to change it.

i can't tell what font it is, though i believe its in the Copperplate family. Its driving my absolutely crazy.

i tried installing adobe type manager but my computer -hates- it. it starts rebooting out of nowhere when i have it installed, but it did change the font to something really skinny.

after deleting the copperplate fonts in SafeMode ( was locked in regular mode )

Poor misguided Mae =P She wants all that spyware and pop-ups =P

I use google popup stopper and spy sweeper...when I have it turned on. Which I just did right now.

FF am the best. No popups, no spyware...the only pop-ups I get come up in IE browsers. GRRR Unfortunately the web people are forced to comply with IE considering it's on 99.99% of the pc's out there.

I've almost forgotten how different browsers display web content. Looks like I get to remember real soon. www.commingsoonrikrsleetwebsitetitlehere.com

Aye never mind that IE does not or has never conformed to RFC requirements for XHTML strict/traditional/framset or HTML 4.01, why even have a governing body to try and create compliance when Microsoft just changes everything between browser releases. Firefox is the win and will help you create standards compliant web sites. And if you don't believe in standards on the internet then you should die in a fire, they are the only reason such a large infrastructure can be managed by independent bodies instead of 'The Internet Company'.

FF is alright though it does not allow for webdesign stuff. it also displays pages incorrectly

I forget who, but someone said FF doesn't display from my front page correctly. That in itself is blasphemy!

actually, FF w/ the webdev suite is soooooooo awesome ( can't add enough o's to so to really do it justice )

but yeah, without going code heavy ( js + dhtml, etc ) you can't really achieve a whole lot w/ FF that you can with IE. but thats based on pure visual stimulation.

i went the way of anti-IE years back, but then netscape started sucking hairy balls, and i reverted back to IE. at this point, i dont give a shit which browser i use. I click the IE icon because i've clicked it for 8 years. I'm used to being able to add my cute custom-color scrollbars and other some such ( certain filter effects totally own ). My sites work in FF, but i dont care to go the extra mile for that 10% of "must-go-against-the-grain" websurfers out there

Maye I use FF and your site displays fine for me. I agree with vex though, when I start on my site, will conform to the debils IE. oh well gotta go with the majority. I will however continue to use FF.

Do you use Eudora for email by chance? Or have you ever even tried it?

I ask because I had this same issue with a font that looks almost identical (copperplate gothic) and could not figure it out for the longest time. Turned out that Eudora which I used like...once was set to that font and somehow affected IE, regardless of the configuration within IE.

There is a setting..under TOOLS I think (it was a while ago) called "use microsoft view" or "use microsoft viewer" or some such, if you uncheck it, then change IE to something else, and then back to default...that worked for me.

Probably unrelated, but maybe of some use to you.

in fact, ff displays pages more accurate. some people call it incorrect, but actually ie is incorrect. ie kinda ignores flaws in the code which makes it kinda unreliable, especially for web designers.

I have absolutely NO problems with popups or spyware with IE. The only anti-____ I have installed is google toolbar. You just gotta be wise and know what you're doing and watch where you surf. Porn sites, anyone?
