XM Radio

Got this last friday, and it is fantastic... the only reason I was buying it was for Opie and Anthony( www.opieandanthony.com ), but the other features are fantastic as well

So which is better - XM or Sirius?

I heard sat radio wasn't that great. What's the price on them?

My wife has XM....I have Sirius......Get Sirius.

XM is a little cheaper but Sirius has move channels. Plus you can listen online for free with Sirius. XM you can listen online but you have to pay 3 bucks which then raises the price to be as nuch as Sirius. Peronally I like Dance channels and Sirius had more of those. Also...Sirius has an all Elvis channel.....which is also one of my favorites.

Decide on what music you like the best and get which ever one has more channels of that kind.

Purchase a year if you can so you get the discount.

Both are great so you cant go wrong with either choice.

Oh god now im thinking about switching over to the other sat radio. What kind of "dance" music is on the second one sajan? I mean is it like al techno and trance and dumb and bass or the old fassion type culb dance?

I didn't get it for the "music' like i said above, but I am happy with the selection on XM... The unit, for car only cost me 120$ and the service is like 12 bucks a month with my added channel. For 40$ more, you can buy the kit to play it in your house as well.

A friend of mine has Sirius and loved it for a while, then realized he spends most of his time in the car, in a tunnel under several hundred feet of water, then gets out and gets into a truck where he can take his receiver... before driving into a tunnel under several hundred feet of rock...

Hehe, needless to say he got less than spectacular reception in those tunnels.

I've noticed while driving with him that it is absolutely Line of Sight dependant as even a drive-thru or bank window overhang completely interrupts the signal. Not just a staticky experience, but no experience at all.

Myself...I never find myself in tunnels or under a roof often enough for it to matter, so I am in the process of convincing him that he does not want, nor need his receiver :P

Other than the above examples, the sound is incredible. The selection is second to none, and we are not just talking music. Talk radio, old-school (and I mean OLD) radio shows and even modern radio drama are all well represented.

The receiver he has seems to have alot more user-friendly features to it than the one XM receiver I have seen. Though as I said, I have only seen one.

Good stuff, and I doubt I'd ever listen to FM radio again if I had either XM or Sirius.

I love it, today was the first day I listened to FM, and I only did cause I wanted to hear the whiny bitch(Howard) cry about Bush winning. I haven't noticed the line of sight issue, mine works in carwashes, drive throughs, cloudy/rainy days and most tunnels, it's very nice,

Strange.. I wonder why his seems to require a clear L.O.S.

Perhaps I do not want him to give it to me after all.

Do you have the portable unit or an actual mounted unit? His is portable, and I THINK there is a little antenna attached the the car and connected through the cradle... If yours is a standard head unit is it somehow using the whole car as an antenna???

If not I am really confused as to why his would behave like this, and yours does not.

I'll likely just buy one after some research... he is always an early adopter and I always get the revision to the revision that works better hehe.

I have the portable one, the "roady 2". However, I have, connected my little antenna to my car antenna, by way of splicing.(note: it worked fine before I did this too, I just didnt like the little antenna on my car.)
