I shot someone last night
I live in a house with 2 of my friends. In the middle of the night last night someone came in through our unlocked back door and tried to steal a computer that was in our living room. My puppy woke me up and i heard moving around. I grabbed my 9mm that i keep next to me and walked through the house not expecting to actually see anything.. I walked into the only entrance/exit to the living room and saw him trying to unplug the monitor. I cocked the gun and told him not to move. He saw me and broke for the door. I thought he was coming after me as I was standing in the doorway so I shot him in his right leg. We live next door to a cop and he was over there within about 30 seconds and the EMT/Police were there about 5 minutes after him. No real harm was done, he didnt bleed much and it was on hardwood so it was easy enough for them to clean up. I'm not really freaked out about getting robbed as I am about how easy it was for me to shoot someone. I shot him in the leg on purpose but kinda strange to think I could have killed him.
lol :( I'm scared to keep a gun in the house
1. cuz of my kids,
2. cuz I'll kill a fucker ... :sneer
I've shot at someone before , stabbed a bitch with sissors, and beat a girl with a locker lock =/ I found it very easy to do =x ..
I have temper issues .. not so much anymore tho , thank gods! lol
But yeah , someone comes into my home you bet damn well I'll defend it ;) /pats back
I'm glad to hear everyone is ok , and bravo for keeping a cool head and not just going postal on his ass lol
WTF - you are freaking me out, missy. O_O
I could care less about my shit - I suppose I'd just feel so threatened that someone was in my house and endangering my daughter. I mean...my daughter. As parents we all would die for our children, that kind of rage...that's what scary. Besides, Catherine is part of 'my stuff'. I own her! I have the receipt still!!
Oh yea...if my daughter was still living at home, my 'stuff' wouldn't be a second thought. When she was little I had all kinds of 'escape routes' mapped out in my head, in case anything happened...from fire, to break in, to even tidal wave (which was a threat where we lived).
Now that she's no longer at home...I've thought long and hard about what 'things' really mean that much to me, and I'd have to say very few. Fortunately, those things are things I can't imagine anyone else wanting to steal, so I guess that explains why I sleep so well at night. For everything else, I've got insurance, so I could give a rats ass if someone wants to steal it.
He was a junkie, and one of my best friend's dads is pretty much one of the most wealthy/powerful lawyers in the state. They already told my that I dont have anything to worry about legally, and I dont feel guilty about shooting him. I just feel strange about how easy it was. I keep a gun in my nightstand because we don't live in the best part of town. He had a knife on him, but I doubt he planned on doing anything to us.
You know I love ya to death, but there is some serious issues with this. When you get representation on retainer, you need to discuss reasonable force. I hope it works out for you.
Having said that - I'm glad that our laws don't make it easy to get away with this because I also don't trust people's ability to judge when is and isn't a proper time. If it WAS legal to shoot someone for stealing something you'd have people shot all the time for takign an apple, ro salesmen for tresspassing - so don't mistake my above for saying I wish it was legal. I am saying though if someone is such an asshole that they'd smash a window, braek all my shit, and take off with more - the world would be better without them and I'd wish someone would shoot them. I own a couple of guns, but don't usually keep them with me - I thikn they've been in my parents gun cabinet since I moved out years ago to go to college. However, if that ever changes, and I have kids and feel someone is threatening them - I will shoot them. I won't sit and debate, or try to ascertain if they are just robbing me or threatening my family. They'd better be obviously just robbing - like holding a sign that says "just fuckign with your stuff man not your family!".
Blazyn, if you truely feel bad for shooting him with your handgun, just got get a shotgun and load it with the bean-bag rounds. That way you never have to worry about killing someone, and you can shoot them several times in the leg for fun! Let everyone in the house get a shot while your at it. Watch them writh in agony while the neighbors call the cops.
I agree with Prosecution on this one - it's the loss of safety & security that is the scary part. I have no doubt I would do what I had to protect my kids, but knowing that someone can take away our sense of security royally pisses me off. Course, it doesn't help that I've had that taken away a time or two over the years and know how it feels.
I'm glad you didn't kill him, Blayzn. I just hope the courts don't let him go on a technicality (like the door having been unlocked... though it's still trespassing, i guess...)
my ex-husband one night realized the motion sensor lights were on in the front yard and went outside with a bat
he saw a guy trying to steal our car
he took the bat and pumelled him on the concrete driveway literally bashed his brains in
there was a pool of blood running down the driveway unto the street
he beat the robber to about 2 inches of his life
the neighbors called the cops and i didnt hear anything until i heard the sirens and got up
the would be robber left in an ambulance sirens flaring
he got out of the hospital 2 weeks later
and my ex husband got a pat on the back from cops and the news came and interviewed him =/
go Texas
i was so scared for my son and i for months after as the guy was a g thug
The PG cops told him if he killed him it was manslaughter, however as it stood it was self defense. Got to love MD laws.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't think beating a guy almost to death with a golf club is fair punishment for a guy breaking into your car. This wasn't your house, you didn't catch him in your son's room standing over his crib. To each his own I guess. Maybe a smash to his knee and then punch him in the face, and tie him up, but almost to death? Too much.
It wasn't that long of a beating. From what I have heard of the situation it lasted less then 30 seconds, from beating to the cops showing up as a neighbor had already called. And in this area (SE DC) you make sure that guys out, otherwise you don't know what's going to happen next. And its a fine line between incapacitation, and death. So 20/20 hindsight, yes you could say that might have been too much, but for a guy who's only way to make it an hourly job is being taken from his driveway that is a direct assualt not only on his property, but his livelyhood. Insurance doesn't get you a new car for 30 days. Bus? Maybe, if you got a stop near by, a route goes to your work, and there is a stop near your work. Clean and simple, losing transportation in an area where you have to rely on it every day, (public transportation is sketchy in that area), can mean loss of income and possibly your job. Thats a life changing negative event. So yeah, I don't think he went to far, and I have no sympathy for the crook. He broke the law, the consquences are for him to deal with. We need to remember who broke the law, and who is the criminal. And a bit too much, well he's not dead, and thats the law. Not dead = ok.
You're saying all this stuff about someone breaking into the car, lifechanging etc. But let's say he doesn't beat him for 30 seconds. Instead he hits him with the golf club in both knees. He isn't getting away, and he isn't dead.
Personally, I wouldn't kill anyone that isn't posing immediate life threatening danger to myself, my family, or my friends. Someone breaking into your car isn't life threatening, and as terrible as that person could be, beating him/her to death over it, is too far. Unless they kills babies.
You say this guy could lose his livelihood on an hourly job. But what the fuck is this guy doing with $2000 in stereo equipment in his car if he has an hourly job?
Look, all I'm saying is there is a reasonable amount of force to be used in a situation. Blazyn shot a guy that was coming at him after he told him to stop. A guy OUTSIDE your home, can be hit with a golf club once, but to near death. Saying that's an accurate amount of force is just bullshit. Sorry.
Or load it with salt rock. Won't kill them but will put them in some serious pain.
you must watch supernatural LOL
