The girl that this happened to is a very good friend of mine. I won't go in to personal detail as to my emotions at the time, but you can imagine how I am feeling right now.

However, the point of this post is to PLEASE PLEASE be aware of your surroudings. She was in the employee parking lot, with security everywhere. The man who did this to her (she is 5 months pregnant) was someone we all knew at work. He came into our casino often, and some even considered him a friend. I have known this man since 1995, when I first got into the casino business.

This happened at a casino. Not only are there numerous camera located all over the property, but the staff is a very tight knit group. For something to happen in this enviroment is unbelievable. You never know about people, and should always have your guard up. I just can't imagine what would ever possess someone to do something like this.

So please, say a prayer for Lori. While no woman deserves this, the fact that it happened to her is deplorable. A kind hearted person who would go out of her way for anyone. She has a 7 year old son, and is engaged to get married.

Wow - you never realize just how much information is left out of these articles till you hear the details from someone personally involved.
Nothing was said about the pregnancy, but I'll assume that means the stabbing didn't effect that part of her, and will keep her in my thoughts with hope that she recovers as quickly as possible.
It is a scary world.

I agree with Roz here. I'm very sorry to hear this about your friend. I hope she recovers quickly...physically and emotionally. I couldn't imagine going through anything like this.

You can only hope that he gets (at least) 20 years in a cell with Bubba.

The good (and I guess evil) thing is I've known 5 different prison guards in my life, and EVERY one of them is always sure to let EVERYONE know (inmate wise) of the sex offenders that have just came in. Always makes them popular quickly . . .

oh...that's just awful. I've known a couple girls who've gone thru that and it really changes a person. My deepest sentiments to your co-worker. It is most certainly a scary world out there.

Nah they should do liek the native americans did to theirs!
Cut off their gens, tie them up, and pass out long poles/stick and tribe members would go by and shove the sticks into the gen area....repeatedly

My heart goes out to her and her friends/family.
You can't trust anyone now days, so extremely sickening!

The man should have a glass stiring rod from a chemistry lab shoved into his pee hole and have his dick smashed by 2 bricks, so all the little bits of glass get imbeded in his urethra and he has to live with the pain and memory of that night for the rest of his life. true story.

I hope that in those eight years he suffers terrible rectal trauma, gets a slow infection that goes septic and kills him two days before he can be paroled.

I've been raped, I can't stomach the thought of it happening to others although I know it does. Rapists are as bad, if not worse than murderers... atleast the dead no longer suffer, where as a rape victim can feel the effects of the tragedy for years upon years.

Every two and a half minutes some one in America is sexually assaulted.

44% of them are under the age of 18.

I feel so badly for your friend but grateful that the person that did this to her got prison time. I hope she can find the strength to recover from this as best as she can.

Everytime this subject is brought up I find myself wondering how do I prepare my daughters to defend themselves if something like this should happen. Really heartbreaking to think that at some point , and probably fairly soon, that I have to teach them about this.
