I looked at it and talked to the guy at Game Stop. He said it was very much group/raid based and I'm just not feeling that. I miss eq for the friends but not for the time intensiveness of it. Is that a word? Anyway, I'm passing on this I think =(

Hmm, first time for me to hear about this. Not when I've been in beta testing for the LOTRO that has ads splashed across the site there. :) Might have to take a peek at it, if this poor PC can handle another game loaded up onto it.

I've not grouped once, I solo every single thing Mae. I duo with some cleric named greystone when higher level nameds pop just for loot. I play this game for the loot too after all =D

Its soooooo much faster to repeat quest and kill stuff the exp moves along, got krassus 2 more levels last night alone in a few hours. Thier are missives (missions) where you go out and kill like 10 lions and get a $$ reward and then get a scroll, 1 scroll = small prize, 5 medium (both potions) but for 10 scrolls you get nice armor. there are A LOT of exploits right now, i did one i found in Qa Riverbanks with some quest from the north bunker for like a day enough to just buy the best droppable stuff out now and stopped, but that is the only thing bad right now it seems that a lot of stuff is bugged. The game though honestly feels like EQ1 to me, and what EQ should have been as it progressed.

torn between disciple and cleric -- feign death is awesome but i kind of wanna go back to my roots of mace an shield.

Clerics are freaking sick in vanguard, they are like warrior healers. I am still duoing with the same cleric and we tear ish up. We are both level 16 now and we camp lvl 20ish-22 quests and own them.

Vanguard gets a major upgrade again on this coming Tuesday. This game is immense, It is really amazing. The leveling isnt as easy or as fast as EQ and i have seen EVERY single class soloing with ease up into the 20's around me. This game isnt one with instant gratification like EQ or even the special olympics of MMORPG's World of Warcraft where you can level crazily and twink and get loot. Vanguard has a great system to keep the leveling and twinking even. It rates equipment based on %'s so you cant put an uber or even major upgrade on your level 2 alt. It also has a great kill system in when you attack a mob you "own" it, which means only you can loot it and only you can kill it. If you are in a group or raid setting its the raid or group who owns it. It totally negates KSing and Ninja looting.

If you are looking for a game where you can enjoy the journey while leveling in some of the most amazing graphics ever put into a game, where you'll have tons of memories of what you did and killed and explored level by level in a depth even more than EQ then Vanguard is it. The payoff at the end will be nice, but the questing and solo raiding so far have been tons of fun for me.

What I garnered from Krassus, pretty but slow. How this could be made less appealing to me I have no idea, but it sure going that direction.

And yes, the first thing I thought when I saw the screenshots was, "Hey looks just like Oblivion."

I think its what EQ1 should have been. I havent played in like a month cuz I am painting an entire house and in the process of buying our house so I probably wont get much play time until the end of the summer and I'm done fixing up our new house but I can't wait to get playing again. I play a disc and I LOVE IT...darnnit now you guys making me miss it!!! But basically all Krassus said is right on. Maybe when I start again I'll make an alt on your guys server to say hi

:( It won't run on my laptop. I did play in beta some when we were still in Chicago but when we moved we got laptops. I liked it very much. I could solo easily but only got to about level 14. I think I would have played more if I had people to play with. I loved the ranger class and when I buy a game I always want to be a ranger. They weren't gimp in VG like they are in EQ.

I wish I could play it but with us buying a house it's months away until I can. :sad: :sad: :sad

To be honest I haven't really found a fantasy themed MMO that has really appealed to me in a longtime. I played Meridian 59 and Asheron's Call for a while long time back, got hooked into the original Neverwinter Nights, and eventually had a look into EQ2 and D&D Online, but I couldn't get into either.

For the time being I've stuck with City of Heroes and City of Villains since a month after beta, although the frequency with which I'm online varies from season to season.

I might have a look at WoW, Vanguard, LoTR Online (my friends in Chicago are trying to get me into that) or Age of Conan but I'll wait until the reviews start rolling in after a year of the new MMO's being active.

Anyone starting there are a bunch of us on Shidreth, we can lend a hand with money and tips. If you liked EQ at all, this is EQ and much improved on that. /tell Krassus and ill help you out =) The only problem before was the game was released too early, had memory leaks and lack of people. Now its packed, raids are coming and it runs a lot smoother for the graphic level of it

Seriously, I'm enjoying it as well, got a 33 monk, almost 32 necro... various lvl 20-somethings and lower. I'd have a lvl 50 if wasn't for alts and waiting for friends to lvl!

There's been plenty of frustrating bugs, but there's enough fun to keep me there despite 'em. Tho the greyed out mobs were enough to shorten play times until they fixed it. =pullhair

i just like it a lot, didn't at first but its gotten way better. Alts are the devil woman, like you !
