So I'm off to spend my day on the road mostly, driving to and from a podunk city in the middle of agricultural no where. 3-4 hour drive both ways, with a 2 hour seminar I need to speak at. Ever since cleaning, my allergies have been non-stop slamming me pretty damned hard.

So I've barely tasted anything this week. Can't smell most things, either.

But of course I can smell my mom's roasting skunk cigarettes.

I feel loved. Alison woke up while I was out of the room. Ryan said she kept looking at my chair, then pouted when she couldn't find me and started crying. She was okay when she saw me.

Dear Idiots who call looking for legal assistance,

When you call, please do not assume I know what your problem is. When you call and go into this long story about "them" and what "they" did to you, PLEASE don't get impatient with me when I ask you who "them" are.

When you call, and I ask you "where are you calling from?" please assume I'm looking for your town, and not "well, I'm in my living room..." like I'm asking stupid questions.

When you call, and we actually get to the point where we determine that you have an actual problem and I ask you what would be the best phone number to reach you, don't reply with "this one". Perhaps there are programs out there that give you the caller's number, but mine ain't one of 'em!

Please try to come down off your high BEFORE you call me, so that you make sense. If you don't ever come down... please don't call. We can't help you. If potential attorney's fees are going up your nose or into a vein... we can't help you.

Well,

I haven't really felt very motivated to sit in front of my computer at all lately. I have been working on trying to put together a pose package, and I really enjoy posing, but I don't even feel like doing THAT. I've been going outside more; found three yellow crocuses outside my house, yay!!

I also think that part of my "art-lethargy" is due to the morons on DA who feel the need to vent their spleen about the fact that THEY think that working with Poser is nothing more than playing, and not even worth being considered art. I was sooo annoyed when I read that; I wanted to post links to the galleries of people like Vex, Eve, Fredy, Sabby, and ask what exactly they mean by "Poser isn't art". Seriously, I can't imagine who these people think they are; just because it doesn't seem like anything that should be considered art TO THEM, doesn't mean they should publicly belittle the whole thing. Unfortunately a few people who DO just click a few buttons and call it good are apprently making everyone else look bad.

I'm sorry I'm rambling; I didn't exactly mean to get into this subject, I'm more than anything just trying to cover the sound of my boss's typing which is about as pleasant as the sound of a colicky baby running it's nails down a chalkboard while chewing on aluminum foil... if ya know what I mean.

agreed fuck em. Art can be anything. From the most perfect artistic renders, to photos my daughter took, to a scribble my 3 yr old did. Kinda like beauty it's in the eye of the beholder. Anyone who says otherwise can just shut up.

I hate when people get all elitist. I've seen some Amazing things done in free modeling programs where there's others working in 3ds or maya and it looks like crap, and they have the audacity to look down their nose at someone in a "free" program. Guess there's always going to be jerks around...I try not to listen.

This came up somehow over at DA on one of Wildhunt's pieces - and I think the commenter (who was in support of poser as art) pointed out something that the elitists don't seem to grasp. Art is the expression of something - the medium in and of itself is irrelevant. Learning to use the tools to the best of your abilities takes that expression to deeper depths. I've seen stuff that I personally wouldn't consider art - but at the same time I can tell that someone spent alot of time and effort expressing themselves. Art is also about learning and growing. Look at my work. I'll probably never manage to do stuff the caliber of Eve or Vex or Sabby or a couple dozen other people I could name. But I keep trying and I listen, not only to advice tosse my way, but to the advice given to others so I continue to learn more about making my pieces effective. Do I consider myself an artist? Not really - I see at as more of a hobby, but that's my view on my work - not my view on using poser. I don't care what anybody says - that is not an easy program to use if you want to get what is in your head onto the screen in just the right way. the sheer number of options adn settings alone can be more than a littel daunting.

anyways - the point it - fuck 'em. unless you're doing a commisioned piece, what you create is an expression of you. if someone doesn't like it or doesn't consider it art, tough shit. they're probably just jealous anyways!!
