Say Anything.
'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.
Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort
This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.
So, say anything.
I just realzed today that i have 3 word minimum essays/papers due by hte end of the semester. on the upside, i can actually use the same research for all three papers - just from completely diferent angles. the challenge, of course, is remembering which angle i need for which paper. the downside, is that one of them is 100 words max. Excuse me? I have summarize 5 (yes, five) journal articles in 100 words. I have been known to write sentences that are 30-40 words long....
Well, outside of WoW making me sick
The only gaming that holds any sort of interest for me right now is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I can't even get into Pokemon or this really neat mecha-themed Roguelike I found called Gearhead.
Then again, the new woman in my life could be a major factor ;)
funny how that works... unless they play too!!!
We talked a little last night about gaming histories.
She used to be quite the Atari and Nintendo gamer, but somehow missed out the last 20 years or so.
I have Wii. She wants to play.
what kills me is when you realize you're only short about 50 words. and no matter what you do, you can;t quite seem to get them....
the downside, is that one of them is 100 words max. Excuse me? I have summarize 5 (yes, five) journal articles in 100 words. I have been known to write sentences that are 30-40 words long....
In related news, I just took my History midterm. Multiple choice, 50 questions, 4 points each. 156/200. I missed 11. A friggin' 78. From the questions, I expected to get at least 160+, closer to 180. Strengthens my suspicion that this book's screwy flow is completely killing my understanding of the material.
I feel vindicated.
Overall, The American Nation is a disappointment. Before undertaking this review, I polled my students to get their opinions, and found them to share my misgivings. Fourteen students out of thirty-three in one class pointed to its poor inclusion of African Americans; ten out of twenty-nine in another class decried its brevity on Vietnam and other recent events. Overall, my students gave it a low "C," a grade with which I sadly concur. On the bright side, as I frequently tell my students, a "C" is not a terrible grade, and often can be improved with some time and effort. On the other hand, it certainly indicates much room for improvement.
Conclusion: I FUCKING ROCK.
i have to be up in four frickin hours.
and i cannot sleep.
and i have class tomorrow night. (or would it be today?)
i am so screwed.
Totally unexpected. I've been a shut-in for most of the past month, haven't had a haircut, have lost way too much weight, and generally am not looking my best. I think I already stated my opinion on such things earlier in this thread.
Timing.
I don't have it.
Once again!
Timing.
I don't have it.
