The Lost Garden (slightly nsfw)

This is a piece that I've been struggling with for about a month now. I originally had a different concept in mind for the clothing, but I couldn't get the results I wanted in Poser's cloth room. So I set it aside for a while, and ultimately decided to go with the simple tunic instead. Then I added a bunch of props for the plants and foliage, but I added enough of them that Poser could barely render it. I would leave it rendering all night, but it always seemed to hang when it got about 90% done. And in what did render, a lot of the plant props just ended up looking really plastic and fake.

So I set it aside again, and waited to finish it until I got Vue. My first thought was to do away with the Poser props entirely, and I tried to set up a Vue terrain to model the hillside and pool in the foreground. But I never was able to come up with anything that looked right, so I ended up using the original Poser prop I had started out with.

The posing, the dynamic cloth setup, the plants in the water, the pool and the foreground terrain were all done in Poser 7 and imported into Vue. The plants on the ground, the background foliage and terrain, the water texture, the dress texture and (of course) the sky were set up in Vue. The final scene weighs in at 3,766,448 polygons. And Vue rendered it in just under 3 hours.

I'm pretty much ready to call this one done, but I would definitely welcome any comments and constructive criticism for future reference. Thanks for looking!

Wow, the water reflection is cool. May I ask how you did that? The picture looks good, other than the woman looks not quite sharp enough. She looks very jagged for some reason and completely out of focus. Other than that, good job!

I think that the level of focus is perfect! It makes her look like she's a part of the world around her. What amazing lighting.

and you still haven't read the manual???? /faint

loverly work - the only thing I might suggest is to maybe soften it up a touch, but that's more a personal preference of mine!

Not bad at all. I'd add some ripples around where her legs go into the water. Also, to me personally, the water is way too smooth and mirror-like. It looks more like she's standing on a funhouse mirror. Cool, in a way, but not very water-like. I'd add some bump to it :)

I'd probably shine a spot at her face from underneath, just enough to soften that harsh shadow under her chin and nose.

Overall, though, the scene looks pretty good. Ain't VUE fun? :)

Congrats on getting Vue! Beautiful lighting, great focus and I agree with janthin about the water ripples, that'll lend to the realism even more. Great job, Sat - no other c/c to add really. /cheer!
