There are only two states with people with my last name in them, both of which have five or less people with my last name.

Every state has people with my current last name.. James, only 2 with less than 100. I put in my maiden name and 14 states have less than 5k, 9 states have less than 10K, and the rest are all greater than 10k... My maiden name is Smith

Yay - someone who had a name more popular than mine...Williams. :P

Every state.

But even my birth name - Longnecker - is in every state but Idaho, South Dakota, Alabama, and Mississippi. Who woulda thunk that :P

big shock - every state but hawaii has at least 5000 wth my last name (and even they have at least 1000) and at lesat half the states have more than 10,000 - but what can you expect with the last name Johnson?? (and my dad was worried about my brother not having any boys to pass the name onto. kept going on about my brother being the last male Johnson. we asked if he'd opened a phone book lately.)

Maiden Name - Just about every state between <5 and <1000
1st Married Name - 7 States less than Maiden name and <5 to <100
Current Married Name - 20 States less than Maiden name and mostly <5 but three states <100.

Interesting. I did not think my maiden name of Searles was that popular. I have never run into anyone else with it other than family!

Mine is Windle, seems there are some over there hehe. But being from the otherside of the pond, I cant describe it much cos I dunno where all the states are at a glance lol.

Oh duh, put mouse over it and it tells you the state. LOL. Most of them are in Texas, California, Missouri, Virgina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. None at all in South Dakota though, maybe I should move over there

Funny though, my name is quite rare here, I'm the last of the line lol.

Any surname I have ever had is way popular, but I know my aunt's is really rare so I popped it in just to see. There were less than 5 in Florida (my aunt and uncle only most likely) Less than 5 in California (my uncle has a sibling there) Less than 5 in Colorado (he has a nephew i think there) and less than 10 in Mass. (That's where is family is originally from)

I didn't put my married name, since it's smith and there's no point. However, I was surprised at how many people have my maiden name, Bristow, there were 5 states with <1000 in them. Then there is my other maiden name, don't ask it's a long story, of Meirose. All of the <5 in Texas and Oklahoma are my close relatives (mom, grandparents, uncles that sort of thing), and the rest in the US are my distant relatives or migrated in around the same time as my great-great-great-great grandfather.

There's a few hundred other german texan immigrants with my last name, and a few up north, but not much else.

Nothing about my last name surprises me. It's only in a handful of states. California, obviously. New Mexico: my cousins. New York and two New England states: more cousins. Florida: old retired jews related to my paternal grandfather. Idaho: dad's brother that doesn't talk to anyone. In fact my name doesn't go any higher than <50 and thats only in California and New York. Which I'm pretty sure we don't even come close to touching. And I'm sure there's some duplicates. My uncle was a pilot that flew out of Arizona, so Arizona has <5 even though his family lived in another state.

Basically my last name is unique and anyone with it is related to me.

What database(s) do they use, I wonder. <10 in Cali, <5 in Illinois, NY, and Massachusetts. I know there are way more than that, since we're all related. They don't even show any here in Texas.
