Now, I love Rion Vernon and his site www.pinuptoons.com I had a gift made for me from an artist on NS that used his pinup girls as a base. He was credited fully and she took no credit, other than the paint over. I thought they were SO CUTE so I did this.

I was uber proud. Was the first time I did anything like that. I wanted to do LOTS more. But it blew up. Like...really bad. Ultimately NS banned us from using any of RV's bases, at least there. So that brings me to my next question.

Would anyone be offended or disgusted or perplexed if I allowed this on my board? I still would want y'all to credit him fully and obviously dont use my board to gain financially from it. I dont want to offend anyone and I dont want anyway to leave because of it.

So, what say you?

He has made it so that if you use his work in any way, you have to purchase a license to do so...whether you're making a profit or not.

Big change from what it was in the past, the writing him for permission.

Because you now have to own a license to use Rion Vernon's artwork, most art communities..such as NS are banning use of his work, even for inspiration. It's easier to do that, then try and figure out if Soandso has a license to be doing that stuff.

Just an FYI, if you encounter any site/art that has Ã‚Â©date Name , All rights reserved... it means you must contact the owner for terms... they dont legally need to post their terms or even notify you if they change... thats what "all rights reserved" means... it means they reserve all rights to their creation....

The legal manner to use someone elses art even as "inspired by", is to get written permission, and preferrably with terms included.

Most dont mind fan art, but its still within their right not to allow it.

Which reminds me, I have to remove 2 dolls from my dolling site tonight when I get home.
