Transformers was good--but not great by any stretch of the imagination. It was very flawed, unfortunately. They could have easily cut out half of the human cast in the movie and put in stuff with the Decepticons, and it would have made the movie better. The writing was sub-par, and while I was not expecting it to be Shakespeare, I had seen Transformers after watching "Live Free or Die Hard" (yes, same day) and the Bruce Willis movie was written spectacularly! In Transformers, as they try to do in way too many movies nowadays, they just tried to put too much into a two and a half hour movie, and they managed to leave out everything that should have been in it.
First off, the two major bads of the TF universe, Megatron and Starscream, were hardly in the movie at all! That was a travesty! If Megatron was captured, they should have had Starscream and the Decepticons looking for him but having Starscream not really putting too much effort into the task. He should have been looking for the Cube, ordering the Decepticons around, and just causing mayhem. Instead, we see him for five minutes, see him transform twice, and that's it. He's forgotten about for the rest of the time until the very end.
Secondly, why did cold keep the Transformers from working? And how did they transport Megatron from the Arctic Circle to Nevada without him getting warm and breaking free at some point? Too many unanswered questions.
Again, the movie wasn't bad, but it could have been better. Meanwhile, "Live Free or Die Hard" was just a great popcorn flick from start to finish. Reminded me of the first "Die Hard" in so many respects.

The whole hacker story could have gone byebye for Decepticon stuff.
Like, how did they react after BB whupped Barricade's ass? Or Prime beheading Brawl? Or the Military swisscheesing Scorponok?
The first part is easy. Liquid nitrogen cools to below 320 degrees F so just about anything should have problems working correctly in extreme cold.
The transfer, though, is a different story, unless they transported him in an iceberg.
My own questions were:
I wonder, if the Allspark had been saved in its entirety, would it have been able to rebuild Jazz?
I also realize now that I find how BB got his new body was kinda cheap. It was described previously as him getting whupped by Barricade and needing to be repaired, but I guess that was a red herring.
And what about all the decepticons that seemed to have been created by the Allspark, when Sam tripped?
And why did the Allspark only seem to create Decepticons? Could it have been warped by its
proximity to Megs for so many years?

Since I haven't seen it yet, I'm curious. Is the Allspark the Matrix, and they just didn't call it that for the movie since everyone would think it was a biteoff of the Matrix movies?

No, it's not. It is a homage to the Matrix of Leadership, but not a direct corellation.
It's a completely new "device" that gives mechanical life, well, life.
edit: It seems I'm partially wrong.
Per Wikipedia: "(Autobot Matrix of Leadership) was not merely a receptacle for the consciousness of deceased Autobot leaders - it was a gateway that led to the AllSpark - also called the Matrix - the Transformers afterlife, from which all sparks that had ever existed or ever would exist originated. Possessing a sentience, the AllSpark had sent Sparks out into the world, to live. And when the Transformer would pass on, their Spark would return to the AllSpark, and share with it all that it had experienced, thereby adding to the timeless fountain of knowledge and wisdom. It is apparent that ALL Transformers, not merely "good" ones, go to the Matrix."

Not a Transformer fanatic like my hubby and nephews and cousins etc but i really really liked the movie. I thought they would transform would be cheesy or that they wouldnt transform often but that wasnt the case at all. I did want more airal action though.

My eyes were crossed because I'm really tired right now... I read that as "oral action," and almost fell out of my chair.

We took the kiddo to a 9pm showing, didn't out until after 11:30. So, it met the time requirement but from the second it started to the end - it moved fast enough to not notice the time. This movie was visually stunning - I was easily led to believe that 50 foot high talking machines were decimating Mission City. There was something about it though - it won't be in my top 5 all time favorite or incredibly impressive movie list - top 10 easily but it was missing something. I wasn't sitting on the edge of my chair, I wasn't moved to tears at the end monologue like I was with the end of the first Spiderman. I was thankful that there was literally no kissing but it could've used a couple F words, but it certainly had a lot of 'shits' in there.
Overall - it was a good movie but it was no Matrix back in 99. It didn't inspire me, it didn't leave me in ultimate awe - it was a fantastic movie to take Catherine to who kept saying, 'Now THAT's what I'm talking about!' during the cool scenes, but I'm not a better person for seeing it lol.
Shia Lebouff was hilarious. Megan Fox was fucking hot - as was the Australian analyst. Hugo Weaver, I thought, was excellent as Megatron but he doesn't really say a whole lot - but there was QUITE A BIT from the original movie/series - word for word lines that only people in our generation would have picked up on. Peter Cullen, Optimus Prime, was as noble as he was before. His voice is awe inspiring for sure. At first I was perplexed as to why BumbleBee was a camaro instead of a bug - but Mike said it was because Volkswagon wouldn't give their permission, I guess all the foreign car makers used before had refused, that's why everything was GMC, Saturn and all American made.

Oh did anyone catch that preview for an untitled movie that's suppose to release in Jan 08? It starts with a guy's farewell party and suddenly the lights go out and there's this loud roaring? They rush to the top of their Manhattan building and see a huge plume of fire and explosions. Then people are all running in the streets and there's that loud roaring again.
That's so Godzilla.

There's talk it could be Cthulu. Definitely something with a monster. JJ's mum about the flick besides tossing a silly title like Cloverfield. Possibly one of the best trailers in a while lol.

Yeah, I saw that, too. A Godzilla movie produce by J. J. Abrams would rock the known universe! (I think that was the J. J. Abrams one). I love J. J. Abrams. The man is spectacular!

Just got home from TF movie. I thought it was great! Hearing Prime's voice brought back a lot of memories. Like others stated, there was something missing, but overall well worth the price of admission.

While my daughter grew up watching Transformers, aside from the fact that they were vehicles that changed into robots, I knew nothing about them. I loved the movie.
Funny though, I saw Live Free and Die Hard yesterday, and couldn't help but pick up on the similarities. Where Bruce Willis was the hero of the one film, the Autobots/the Shia LeBoef characters were of the other...and where Gabriel was the villain in one, the Decepticon were in the other... both had tons of shooting, car crashing, buildings falling, computer hacking...smart ass government guys who get trounced...really, really similar.
I can see where Bumblebee would have been better cast as a VWBug, but I've always had a special place in my heart for Camaros, so I didn't mind the change.
I liked it, them, both a lot, but neither are in my top 10.

The current password is deceptibot.
I was trying to keep myself in excited little kid mode for the whole movie, but there was one little thing that really annoyed me.
Very little.
Yet still... it was bad.
Last battle scene: Huge Fucking Robots(tm) are tearing up the city, right? Explosions. Big boomy noises. Fire. Clouds of smoke. Jets flying overhead. So... of course the people panic and flee. That's all fine and good. Then the battle moves one street over. Suddenly all the people who were just walking around and minding their own business are screaming and fleeing for cover. As if they had no idea that this battle had been raging on the other side of the buildings. I'm inclined to think that if I had to flee a battle, I'd run pretty damn far. Even if the entire city was deaf and also unable to feel vibrations, I'd make for damn sure that they saw me running like a whore and screaming my fool head off.
'Cept... you know... in a manly manner.

That's what I'd heard also, but supposedly it was Michael Bay's decision. At first I was perplexed as to why BumbleBee was a camaro instead of a bug - but Mike said it was because Volkswagon wouldn't give their permission, I guess all the foreign car makers used before had refused, that's why everything was GMC, Saturn and all American made.
Wikipedia
There's a clip of the original Bumblebee squashing a car in a garage on their viral marketing website.Don Murphy wanted to retain Bumblebee's Volkswagen Beetle form,[39] but Bay rejected it to avoid comparisons with Herbie the Love Bug,[40] and chose the Chevrolet Camaro instead, which he described as having a friendly quality.[37]

I was thinking about that... Ironhide mentioned the humans as being primitive and violent. Prime asked if they were any different in the past. Sounds like Transformers are generally just warlike in nature, and the Autobots are simply more enlightened than the rest. So maybe without guidance/experience, all Transformers are violent by default. Kinda makes sense, given Ironhide's shoot-'em-all personality.
And why did the Allspark only seem to create Decepticons? Could it have been warped by its
proximity to Megs for so many years?

Another thought I had after last night's showing...
Since (supposedly, according to the story) all Earth's technology was reverse engineered from Megs... the Allspark giving life to items created from that basic design could have had bad juju for the resulting robots' dispositions.
