Am I a prude...

Because this kind of picture offends me?

I'm sorry, but the girls in these pictures look like my ELEVEN YEAR OLD daughter... from the neck up. It really makes me sick to see grown men creating things like this; I get the feeling that faeriewylde is being inundated with pedophiles... I actually made mention at one point regarding a freebie set that was offered for Laura that is basically a street corner set that comes with HUUUGE SPIKED HEEL SANDALS... just actually mentioned that the sandals would be great if they were flats, and got replies stating that it's just art, it doesn't really MEAN anything, that I'm being ridiculous, etc... bullshit.

I visit there less and less just because of this stuff that's cropping up. Lovely that they mention that it's "nudity" in the subject line, and some of the nude stuff is tasteful and artistic. Then there's the stuff that makes my gorge rise. Is that stupid and prudish of me?

Thank you, by the way, for letting me spout. It's been on my back burner for a while, and it steams me; mentioned it to Sabby and she seems to feel the same way about them... :)

Is a direct link to one of the images....

I don't think you are being a prude. The pictures actually disgust me.

well the first one is kinda of pedophilish. i actually like #2.. dunno why. it doesnt really seem like a kid to me just because she's short / young face.

the last two.. they're pretty bad, but i guess since they have a wand and some wings, they're fairies. maybe 9 year old fairies.

i've always thought thorne's bodies looked like little girls. which is why i never use them.

not saying you need big tits to be a woman, but no boobs combined with a total lack of waist/hips says adolescent to me.
Vex 18 years ago
btw, this kind of belongs in the art category. Sex Ed is FOR the perverts and pedophiles here.
Darsa 18 years ago
Well, I figured who would be better to judge than perverts? LOL! ;) Truly, I don't feel that I'm a prude; I like naughtiness just fine, but this stuff is just... well, to ME... wrong.

Of course, that's totally my opinion; I was curious as to whether other people felt that way.

If you feel that it should be over in art, that's coolio; whichever is fine :)

I can only see the one that is direct linked, and I don't like it either...
Darsa 18 years ago
Poo, sorry, thought it was a public forum *sigh*
MoonLily 18 years ago
I looked at the direct linked image and uh... wow. It reminds me of my twelve year old niece before she developed, uh bewbs... and well, I don't like it either. I know it's supposed to be a faery type, but can you atleast put I dunno... OPAQUE clothing on someone who looks like a munchkin? It's creepy.
I don't care if people think I'm a prude or even judgemental.
I'm a twenty-five year old book writing, digitally painting, porn watching, bewb and hip lovin' mother of two kids... and I'll be damned if I'm going to condone anything that could remotely please a pedophile.

/kicks away her soapbox and gives lots of g-rated hugs to Darsa.

Yeah I heard about this happening over there. Forget who told me. Having a young daughter, it kinda makes me feel a bit...icky, myself. You know what they say - what's the difference between art and porn? A government grant? Or something like that.

How does the admin on that site feel about the pictures?
ROzbeans 18 years ago
Oh, I just read what they think apparently.

From Thorne, ye of strangely familiar models that look like other models of up and coming merchants.

please do not use these forums to debate hotbed issues such as artistic nudity or to make lewd comments on obviously underaged models, even if they ARE only 3D models. These kinds of comments only serve to give Faeriewylde the kind of reputation that we strictly wish to avoid. Artistic freedom to post nudity is allowed here, but this is not a pornographic forum for posting sexually suggestive comments on otherwise harmless nude images.

The image here is tasteful and well done. If someone finds nudity offensive, please read our TOS posted at the top of this forum and understand that while we allow nudity, we do not allow sexual images of any kind. If you want to endlessly argue the merits of nudity in art and especially if you wish to get personal about it, please take those arguments elsewhere. Thank you.

I agree that art is totally subjective. And I don't care for semi-nude images of pre-teen girls, even if they're supposed to be fairies.
Lunna 18 years ago
Art being subjective and all that... there should be a line when it comes to underage type images. Those make me uncomfortable.
tamaelia 18 years ago
I can only offer that you just don't look.

Sadly, until they make "representations" like 3D renders of children fall under the same category of pedophilia, this stuff will continue to be posted and the perverts who enjoy it will be able to call it "artistic".

I think its a shame that it can be posted on a website that when you register asks if you are under or over 13... the implication being that under 13's can be members there. Just reinforces to me the need to be vigilant as a parent about what your kids have access to on the 'net.
Vex 18 years ago
tam, that 13 or uunder thing is mandatory part of forum installations i think
tamaelia 18 years ago
Oh for sure, I don't doubt its a part of the script for forums. The implication is that you "could" lockout under 13s if it asks the question though.

Down here the govt is running an advertising campaign to educate parents about the real danger of cyber-stalking of kids by pedophiles. Just makes me sad to think what measures we as parents have to take to protect our kids these days.

I will have to agree I have some of Thorne's models. Mostly I use the face and if I do use the body I make sure to cover them all the way up especially if they are young females. I have 3 daughters and it makes me sick. I haven't been to Faeriewylde in a very long time. Actually I haven't been there except for today to check out the pics since I signed up here. YAY 4 TAC!!!

This is a seriously tough subject for me. I think a large part of my complete avoidance of all things fairy and fae has been because of the potential interpretations of those types of images. I would love to condemn these pics but I believe very strongly in complete artistic freedom and I despise censorship so while on one hand the idea of anything that even remotely looks like a young girl is revolting and disgusts me I can't bring myself to speak out against it because as long as it's done as art and not with obvious reference to children it should be protected.

You don't think any of these pictures are obviously children?
ROzbeans 18 years ago
I'm on the fence with Temp too. It all looks really borderline but my personal reference is just not to look, comment or even give it the time of day.
Temprah 18 years ago
Den I didn't register for the site so I'm only seeing that one linked pic and mentally referencing things like Thorne's work. And even if it may look child like, that IS how fae have been described in literature and film so a certain level of umm.. physical underdevelopment.. would be expected I'd think. As much as *I* would love to see DDD cupped fae it doesn't fit your typical mold. Like Roz I usually just ignore all these types of work because it DOES make me a little uncomfortable but I respect people's right to create artwork even if it's not to my taste. As long as it is not explicitly illegal there shouldn't be censorship is my stance.
