I just logged into EQ1 on my retired main for the free comeback month thingy.. it was neat talking to all the old friends and guildies, but I doubt Ill stick around..
Lessien was pretty uber, though not top end.. since that last expansion shes not so well off hehe.

The raids in EQ1 are arguably the best of any online RPG out there still. Thats why people are still playing it.

Yep, EQ is definately still the game for high end raiding. I wonder if AoC will match it one day though, as EQ wont be around forever :(

Its been around for 9 years going on 10 now.
I think it'll always have a following as long as players keep playing. EQ has a very loyal / tight knit player base right now.
Old Diablo and UO are still going after all =p

its a pretty neat site and can test your computer to about anything and tell you how to get it working.
and yeah, EQ1 is a really good game.. Its really too bad its as outdated as it is.. but I remember when they implemented DX9, good lord what a disaster.. So I doubt theyll bother trying to upgrade their engine again.. much less revamping things more than they already have..

Coming from someone who's never experienced a raid on any other online RPG that doesn't say a whole lot. People are still playing it because they are unable to move on, or because they cling to a feeling of being "someone" and fear losing that.
Greywood, Keriath, Scartak, Eodark, and myself are on Doomsayer PVP. You can guess the names.

Got the discs from Den the other day. Good fucking criminy, 32GB hard drive space.
I hate the attacking*. I'm also not a fan of the environments due to my color sensitivities. (level 10, still in Tortuga.)

Ya, fer realz. My Darsa on EQ was ewber, and I loved being ewber :) I don't really miss EQ1, there was an awful lot of drama and stupidity, and now I get to be the stupid one on EQ2. I don't think I have the brain capacity to learn a completely new game...

Small correction, we're on Dagoth for right now. PVE server until they fix PVP. I'm all for non-consentual PVP, it's what makes the game a blast. However when a level 80 can run around and kill lvl 20's it ceases to be fun.

Its been pretty fun in game so far. It just sucks up to 20 till you can leave the city area and actually adventure out and kill random crap instead of doing 5834953 quests.

ive paused the game til they put more 50+ content in.
While it was fun the first 20 times I got a 5chain kill, the boring easy repetitiveness of solo ae grinding is not why I play video games.

A lot is changing in the next month, A buddy of mine from wow is a GM for AoC, Pvp is getting a full overhaul and some limits are being put in to prevent people 40 levels higher than you just killing you over and over.
More content is being added for 35-40 and 45+ iirc. A bunch of other stuff he has told me that i can't remember right now. Next time i talk to him.

Only 30 now. Play pretty casually but I hear a lot of complaints about 50 to 60 content. Sounds like old school EQ hell levels. They just released some info regarding new quest hubs and how they are working to fill in those quest gaps.
