Poor Lonely SMMO :(

I participated last year and had a nice time :). But I haven't played an MMO seriously in years and I'm just not compelled to do game art lately :\. I'm sure that I still -could- art up someone's toon but I'm pretty clueless on what's going on in games these days, so I feel like I'd have a harder time generating ideas. And for my part, since I really don't have any nice screenshots of Verileah, I'd be making up a character and digging up references off stock photo sites or DA, which is actually kind of a lot of work. And then once I've found references, I kind of scratch my head and wonder why I don't just make something myself :X.

At any rate, I suppose if they came up with something clever for an exchange I'd put my oar in, as long as I didn't have to be assigned a blanket group :X.

I won't be signing up. I prefer our exchanges, but good luck to them.

SMMO is just too anal about posting references to things for 3D work. I don't see the point in listing off everything I used to compile an image. People who want to know can ask me what I bought and used, everyone else can probably tell by looking anyway, so I find SMMO to be just too much work to stay involved with.

And I like our adult exchanges more.

SMMO was a great place to start out, and I learned alot there.. but I think the people I really learned anything from or enjoyed talking to or reading what they had to say spend most of their time here hehe. Even when I used to visit daily ( aving been a member for over a year) I felt distanced and uh, I dont know.. kinda not part of the crowd I guess.. people dont respond when I'd post, or even message them. I never got that feeling here, and Im looking foreward to whatever TAC does next..and I hope that SMMO can figure out how to get things back on track, but I dont know that Ill take part in their next events :(

Huh, I guess I never really read as much into as I could have? *shrug* I just thought there were nice people and neat exchanges, but that everyone's kinda drifted away. They did kind of relax the whole crediting every single resource according to some of the posts; some of my favorite prezzies came from exchanges over there.

Well, I'll go over there and hopefully people are just not around right now... if there just aren't people interested anymore I'll just kinda, not, I guess. Sorry to stir up hard feelings; wasn't my intention =/

I don't think it's much of a big deal Darsa. I think alot of it is just people moving on and some who weren't very happy with how the community there felt to them but no big deal. So don't feel bad. I don't think anyone here hates the community there as a whole, or even a part, it's just so much more relaxed here. And Roz won't kill me if I say the F word.

I dont think I knew anyone well enough to dislike them there hehe, I personally just didnt feel welcome I guess, not really anyone to blame for it, its just how it was.

Well, I really adore Starry. She took me in at SMMO, but the forum as a whole hasn't really been what I needed. I get more and better commentary when I post here (and tips on how to do things better zomg <3 ) and that is really WHAT I need. I supported there when I joined, and I supported here. SMMO seems more like a bunch of old friends hanging out doing their own thing. I'm in one of their blanket groups and honestly, I haven't done a thing with them and neighter has anyone else that I can see.

*hugs* I like it here. If they do something, I'll probably participate. And yeah the need to cite bothered me too. I can't tell you what went into something by the time i'm done, though I do try. I'm amazed that Eve can though, and a little jealous of that talent /grin. *double hugs Eve*

Oh no, no hard feelings. I don't think we're better than they are or vice versa, just very different. They're rated G and that's awesome. We, however, are not. Although their support forum is definitely rated R. The drama was fun to read but when it kept coming from the same people it was just so damn annoying.

And yeah, a lot of the people that kept me there went away =( It's a lot of board for only a handful of people and honestly whenever I tried to help make things more interesting, I just got talked down to like I was stupid. But then a year later a lot of their new ideas sounded...familiar.

So /shrug. I still check it often, but I don't participate.
