McCain picks AK governer Sarah Palin - wha?!

Holy shit.

We had heard rumors about Palin being asked to be VP earlier in the year when we were still in alaska, but it was SO far fetched that it was just a giggly thing to say.

She was Wasilla's MAYOR 3 years ago. She's the youngest governor at 44 and AK's first female gov. She has a high approval rating and people in AK think she's the hottest thing since Baywatch. People LOVE her cute hair style and her glasses. Seriously, she's really well liked there.

HOLY SHIT!

I really do think that McCain shot himself in the foot. He's 72, she's 44 and an unknown and washington outsider. She just squirted out her 5th kid, too and no one knew she was pregnant until she was 7 months pregnant. They said she was out like 2 days or some ridiculously short amount after having her 4th and was back to work.

There is also some drama - she recently fired Anchorage's sheriff (or some police guy) for not firing a police man who had incidently been married to her sister (or in law). Her son, who is in the Army, was recently stationed at Ft Wainwright in AK instead of going into Iraq as well. Just murmurings but stuff that will undoubtedly come up.

Yeah I think she's got incredible potential but it's WAY too early in her career. I really do think McCain just picked a woman because Obama didn't.

He has more experience than her - that's good enough. I have little faith in McCain as well - he seems delusional and out of touch.

But yeah it helps that Obama is brown =D

No, not really.

I check all the internet blogs/mags for stuff to post on afk2pee and I'm really shocked (no, not really) at how much mud they are slinging at her daughter and hockey nut redneck boyfriend.

God did I say that out loud? Christ look at him!

Anyway, it's not something I'm going to post on my blog (yeah cuz I have EFFICS!) but every single blog I've checked has the father's myspace quotes, pictures and discussions about Bristol. She must be mortified =/

Not that I care either way, but this is for the Vice President of the United States. One short step away from the most powerful position in the world (stupidly close with the presidential nominee being 72, of borderline average health, and having multiple bouts with cancer). In what world are you living in where you don't think every single person in her direct family isn't going to become immediately famous and scrutinized. And if you're a very conservative republican and your daughter gets knocked up OUT of wedlock, you don't think people are going to consider that need-to-know information?

Maybe the courteous thing isn't to attack the daughter, but she is absolutely going to be in the spotlight and thinking she shouldn't is bogus. If you're going to accept the nomination you have to know you're putting your family "in the game." I'm not sure how often word broke about the Bush daughters partying, but it was a lot. Obama seems like a classy guy for saying don't attack family, and certainly not children, but you better believe I would be playing it up as a campaign manager. I'm not a good person, whatever. This is the presidency, history has shown us that the way to win is to go dirty, and go dirty first. Republicans should be stoked Obama isn't that big of a fan of going dirty.

The fact of the matter is that teen pregnancy happens to every part of America, every family, every social group, every race. I bet if you look into the families of the people smearing this kid you would find at least one cousin or aunt that was a teen mother as well. This has nothing to do with politics, what kind of parent this woman is, or the issues she cares about. Teen pregnancy is a universal issue that happens to anyone.

Actually I mean 'ethics'.

I've been watching the news all morning, like everyone else - and i keep hearing about the issues related to 'teen pregnancy'- It's all related to Sarah Palin and her 17 year old unmarried pregnant daughter. Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place. Its distracting from the real issues, the real everyday problems that this country experiences. I am concerned with the fact that Sarah Palin brought the attention to her daughter's pregnancy, rather than all world issues and what she believes she could possibly do to change them-if elected. I get Sarah Palin's views against abortion, but i would much prefer to hear more about what she can do for our country rather than how her daughter is going to have a child no matter what.
Maybe focus on delivering some words and policy with stronger impact like Joe Biden.

You know who said that?

Lindsay Lohan.

Intelligent words came out of Lindsay Lohan's mouth?
Vishanti 17 years ago
All the time. At least, words like phallus and ejaculate are typically used by fairly intelligent people.
