McCain picks AK governer Sarah Palin - wha?!
Holy shit.
We had heard rumors about Palin being asked to be VP earlier in the year when we were still in alaska, but it was SO far fetched that it was just a giggly thing to say.
She was Wasilla's MAYOR 3 years ago. She's the youngest governor at 44 and AK's first female gov. She has a high approval rating and people in AK think she's the hottest thing since Baywatch. People LOVE her cute hair style and her glasses. Seriously, she's really well liked there.
HOLY SHIT!
I really do think that McCain shot himself in the foot. He's 72, she's 44 and an unknown and washington outsider. She just squirted out her 5th kid, too and no one knew she was pregnant until she was 7 months pregnant. They said she was out like 2 days or some ridiculously short amount after having her 4th and was back to work.
There is also some drama - she recently fired Anchorage's sheriff (or some police guy) for not firing a police man who had incidently been married to her sister (or in law). Her son, who is in the Army, was recently stationed at Ft Wainwright in AK instead of going into Iraq as well. Just murmurings but stuff that will undoubtedly come up.
Yeah I think she's got incredible potential but it's WAY too early in her career. I really do think McCain just picked a woman because Obama didn't.
I'm not at all surprised. Not much else to do in Alaska.
Bristol, Willow, Piper, Track and Trig. O_o
It was Bristol that got pregnant. Seriously, the rate of teenage pregnancy in Alaska is astronomical.
what was that pregnancy image about ?
But then, that was all just before 9/11
And as for that chart, there were a lot of idiots out there trying to disparage Palin by saying Trig was her daughter's son, that Sarah sneakily pretended was her own. Funny how that could happen with Trig being 4 months old, and Bristol being 5 months pregnant now.
This whole thing with the kids has made me utterly disgusted. I am most likely not going to vote for McCain and Palin, but that aside all this tearing at her family is so unnecessary, and certainly doesn't make Obama's supporters look good.
I thought Obama's assertion that it's not cool to go after family was pretty decent, too.
I dont know why they seem to always highlight anything and everything that might possibly be negative about anything the gop does ( or people in it) but the obama guy and his crew are pretty much ignored unless its positive.. cant tell me that whatshisname he chose for vp doesnt have a history.. yet i havent heard anything about him.
Every one of us has f***ed up at one (or more) point in our lives, and I'm sure every one of us has done some good. I"m like Lessa, pretty sick of hearing all the negative about one person & all the good about another. I"d like to hear Good that bots sides have done & the bad that both sides have done.
I still remember when the big deal was made about Clinton smoking pot ("I didn't inhale" my ass)... so what? who cares. I certainly don't. as long as he's not smoking it when he's in office, why should we care what he did when he was younger. People change, it's a fact of life. People usually do stupid stuff when they're younger. I know I did my share (and his share, and her share).
As for putting someone in office with very little experience, Maybe that's what we need. Someone who hasn't been utterly corrupted by special interest groups, & who can make decisions without worrying about what group they're gonna piss off, and just do it.
