Labor Day Weekend

We're celebrating Catherine's 9th birthday with her grandparents up on Whidbey Island. I'm currently typing on a new computer with a 10 year old monitor. Good times.

Ripping up the carpet in the living room, painting and putting down flooring...hopefully it will all get done today. I hope it looks ok when we're done.

Ugh - good luck with that. I've put down two laminate floors, after ripping up the carpet, and talk about back breaking work. I do not envy you the job, but the results should be awesome!

Well so far all the carpet is up, most of the tacking strips (one which I stepped on and it went thru my shoe and into my foot!) and the walls are primed. Erik told the girls he would pay them 3 cents for every staple they pulled out of the subflooring.... they said what do we get for painting the walls....jerks! So we are pulling up the rest of the tacking strips and then cleaning up, painting, and then floor last. Maybe it will take another weekend, I dunno. But my sister is coming here on the 23rd and I want that damn room done!

Took Dad into the ER Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm.
Long story short, he has a blood infection stemming in some way from his dialysis treatments. His blood pressure is dangerously low and he's carrying a medium fever. They need to keep him for most of the week at the least.

I spent the day chasing Cory all over Toronto, he picked today for his Van to break down 20 miles from the border and ended up taking a bus to to Toronto, then subway as close to my house as possible, then another bus. Since I have no car, I got to take bus rides to meet him there.
YAY! For excellent timing on breaking your car. I missed my fucking BBQ. Oh wait, I wasn't gonna have one anyways. :( Lame Canadians and their no labor day traditions.
