Hey there, yea I remember you, kinda. I didn't browse the ss board much so I don't remember your work.

Anyways, great gallery you have here. I'm surprised it hasn't been shut down, what with DA's policy towards screen manips. But knock on wood, they won't close it any time soon.


So firstly, what a fucking rude ass jackass and secondly...wtf is with the 'oh hopefully they dont shut you down' shit? There's a topic over on NS about deviant art and their screenmanip hater ways, I guess. I just can't believe the utter jack ass tone of this post.

Ugh, no more art from me for at least two weeks, probably. I'm emotionallyand physically exhausted from this debacle ----> [link to Roz's DA site] .

Man, that is the last time I try to compliment someone. Ofcourse, that was the first time I've gotten in to a fight over a compliment, so it'd be a shame to stop now.

I honestly thing the headache is from holding back. Holding back and trying to be a decent person.

I dunno, it just verifies for me that leaving [link to NS] as a regular member was the right thing to do.

Just about everyone on DA has a level of integrity and kindness that is second to none. Especially when you compare it to that site. Just check out the list below.

btw, how do I go and look directly at your art Mae? I wanted to check out what all you had there, but when I went to search a name, it said it was limited to subscribers. So am I supposed to search through 10 THOUSAND deviant's to find YOURS? OMG!

Video game screenshots are typically not considered acceptable 'stock art' for manipulations as many of the companies involved prohibit their use entirely or severely restrict the ability of such 'fan art' to be posted on a website such as deviantART.

I would suggest that you remove the pieces in question voluntarily.

Eh it doesn't bother me. I've been thinking of trying to put up more original work. I like deviant art fo the inspiration and all the beautiful people =D If they yank it, i'm ok with it. I wont act like it though, :teehee

I've heard similar claims of permission- in nearly every case the individual had either misread or misunderstood the Terms and Conditions of use or misinterpreted where the 'fan art' could be displayed.

I'm afraid if you cannot show me definitive proof of permission before the end of the weekend I will be removing your submissions.

The key part of that statement is, "EQ subscriber posts to and/or..."

I'm sure if he wants to be completely ignorant he can say that Mae is misinterpreting it and that wasn't SOE's intention when they released those terms.

But from what I interpret from that sentence, it's not just limited to SOE boards. If that was the case they shouldn't have put the "and/or"

The "and/or" should be read in the context of the sentence though. "...posts to and/or transmits through SOE's Communication Features" - this says to me that through whichever means of sharing the fanart is done it would still be done using the SOE Communication Features. The statement is pretty open until they specify exactly where the fanart would be posted and/or trasnmitted.

I draw your attention to the portion;

DeviantART is not associated with the SOE's communication features and is thereby excluded from being a valid display site for works created using the copyrighted original images.

I suggest that you now remove your works voluntarily and avoid administrative actions within your gallery.

Dont quibble, this is my money and my art. Dont be so quick to tear something of mine down. If you insist on taking mine down, then take it ALL down. The only reason you even had a clue about my gallery is because I asked. Otherwise your site just took my money and didnt think twice about it.

If you take my site down, refund my subscription. Otherwise dont taint my experience here at deviant art.

I guess I'll take it down and try to focus on more photographs and poser. If i can ever figure out poser. I dont feel like fighting deviant art. Plus I have a website, there's no point.

IF SOE had a problem with it, they'd already be attacking NS as one of the larger websites that use material from EQ. I call bullshit.

The issue isn't really whether or not there's been a precedent of them going after people, but whether or not it's within their rights to should they decide to do so in the future.

Anywho, I think Mae made a good point that had she not asked them directly about it, they would have just taken her money and probably never noticed her screenshot art. It's pretty lame.

I'm curious to try Bryce out, too. With it now being supported by DAZ, it may be worth toying around. I was messing with Vue d'Esprit a bit, but I had issues with importing Poser scenes and gave up on it.
