do you have any Disturbed or Static X? Think those are osme of the hubby's faves, I even kinda like Destroyer by Static X hehe.
Offspring just recently made a new album that I really like, you might like too if you listened to em in the 90s
its not mellow or death rock, theyre the alterna/punk/rock that theyve always been, but it migh tbe something different for you.
Linkin Park is one of my favorites, though they may be overplayed.
Seether too is in my most played list and while they have a few popular/overplayed radio singles theyve got alot of other good music.
I need new music
Need new music:
I need some new music in two categories . First when I'm looking more for my more mellow moods I like stuff by bands like Spoon, Cold War Kids, White Stripes, The Black Keys etc, and I'm looking for more
And then the second is newer rock - I haven't kept up with rock since the 90s, but when I want something hard I'm sick of everything I have - I'm not looking for death metal or black metal or anything of that sort (unless it has excellent rhythm on top of the growling), and I'm not looking for pop rock radio stuff either.

disturbed was ok, but was never much of a fan of Static X - I'm honestly not a fan of Linken Park at all - I might give some more Seether a shot I've only really heard radio stuff by them thanks!

Whitechapel
Its Deathcore and its a new genre that popped up around 2001 and Whitechapel has transcended the genre. Deathcore is Death Metal with Hardcore Metal breakdowns and change ups. Its not as raw or straight forward as Death Metal either. It has a better sound and its the music of choice these days among the hardcore underground scene...Even though Whitechapel just signed a label with Metal Blade records.
Deathcore has Death Metal growls and screams with good music behind it more or less.
If you want more great Deathcore band names or even song names, let me know and i'll list them - But Whitechapel is my fav band these days hands down. Winds of Plague is a close second.
If that isnt your cup of tea - Try out the following bands which are Hardcore/Techcore:
The Dillinger Escape Plan
As I lay dying
Converge
Martyr AD
Between the Buried and me
Sworn Enemy
The Faceless
Vampire Mooose
Walls of Jericho
As you can see - Im not that mainstream with my music. Only mainstream I listen too, if you call them that are Slayer, Lamb of God and Pantera and Slayer is putting out another CD this month some time.

True story: Britt's brother threw a dumb terminal at my head from less than 5 feet away. I couldn't really get mad at him, since I'd locked him in a dark storage trailer for about 15 minutes and left for some food. He also got mad at me for sending him a picture of his face next to one of the Columbine shooters as a comparison. Later he hooked me up with some UT discounts for software I needed for school. I used to stick my finger in his friend's face, and she'd lean forward and tap it with her nose. She was like a trained seal or something. Damn, I was kind of a dick. We all kept in touch for a while, but then I stopped using ICQ and dropped off of AIM for a couple of years.
True story #2: Britt went to high school with one of my former coworkers. While my friend was away, Britt messed around with his girlfriend. He wasn't too upset, because he apparently had been cheating on her anyway. He seems to still be somewhat annoyed, but he likes their music.
I still only recognize two Spoon songs: Car Radio and The Underdog.
I kinda like Theory of a Deadman, but I don't know if you'd consider them pop rock radio stuff. I haven't heard them on the top 40 stations here, but they've been getting some playtime on the alternative/loud stations (although they're not all that loud).

Heh, think my upbeat is mellower than your mellow...
Well, that's not strictly true - I've only been listening to the really chill stuff lately.
Anyway, drawing a blank - I've been listening to books on tape lately instead of music. New Pornographers? Built to Spill?
Totally unrelated, but I think I'm going to go see Brandie Carlile this fall. Along with her original songs, which I love (what I've heard, anyway), she does this cover of Radiohead's Creep with a cello that's just lovely.

I don't know I go pretty mellow - not sure what I listed. I liked the cover - it will take me awhile to check all of these out so I'll get back to you guys :P Thanks

Bob Schneider's got some great mellow songs, but he's nowhere near new. I've just never heard much of his music on the radio other than "Big Blue Sea." Some of my favorites from him were recorded with his other bands, The Ugly Americans and The Scabs. We used to listen to "Orlando" at work all the time. Our boss wasn't very attentive, so he never realized what a slacker song it was. Unfortunately, I can't find the uncensored version anywhere.
Haven't kept up on Spoken since my friend (former guildleader on EM) quit as drummer, but he was trying to steer them toward a hard rock sound. Unfortunately, their singer tended toward screamo in a lot of their work. Not really a fan of that. None of this is new, but it's not mainstream so a lot of people haven't heard it. They did go on tour with Chevelle a few years ago, but I don't think it really earned them too much exposure.
September (fanmade AMV)
Falling Further (official video)
Promise (official video)
Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper cover... a bit odd, but better than that NFG one)
Promise was apparently used as the intro to some MTV shows, but hell if I know which they were.

Wow. She's like a physically attractive version of Beth Gibbons, minus some of the soul. And plus a little something. Country? I dunno. Watching her is distracting me.

Three Days Grace Link2 I like them, but honestly I only listen to the radio if Im in a car, and I only go in a car maybe once a week, or less. No clue how much of the music I have of theirs is on the raidio. I like their rythym and beat, I like the composition of the music, its not just a mash of all the instruments and yelling voices going at once.
Soulfly - My son was given his friend's used nano and I was going through it to sort out the music he didnt like and put new music on it for him. It had a bunch of this band on it which is way more heavy than I care for, but you might like it.
Lamb of God - This band too, same as above :)

I'm not sure if this fits into what you were looking for... but I personally really like these 2 songs. The group is Serenity, wiki classifies them as symphonic or power metal... *shrug*

I dont think so, but Im not sure what pop is anymore. Anyhow, it came out this month. It reminds me of their last album a lot, with new little effects.

I think overall the last one was my favorite - there are a few songs on the older albums I like better than anything on the last one, but overall...
