As with all TAC events - signing up means you will provide (at least) 1 desktop size portrait of the person who's name you were given, and I'm asking that you also include a sig this time as well. Most do anyway. It's just nice to have something to use on the board to show off.
Please do not show the art off until the turn in date - March 6th - It's all secretz!
From Roz-
Please use your time wisely - any late turn ins will result in being banned from future TAC art events. We take this very seriously and we do not want to see ANYONE empty handed. If there is a reason YOU CANNOT TURN IN ON TIME - please let Eve or Lessa know AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. Or I swear, I will lose my shit. I am not kidding. =( Seriously, please let them know before the turn in date so they can make arrangements for your person not to be empty handed. All I ask is common courtesy. =) Sorry for getting angry there.
If you would like to turn in early, please upload them (somewhere not viewable in a public gallery please) and send the link to both Lessa and Eve either in a PM here on TAC, or a note on DA. If you get it finished, get it loaded up! That way even if something happens to your puter, you've already got a copy of your gifts out in cyber space.

Yes, Clara and her family are black. You can choose to portray Clara either as the proper lady of society in the more formal Victorian-era style, or in her secret role as a mechanic, where she would be dressed in a more simple style appropriate to the job.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course):
"Clara! CLARA! Your father!"
The urgent hiss of her co-worker broke through Clara's reverie, in time for her to notice the tall, stately form of her father darkening the doorway of The Rusty Cog. With a hastily mumbled expletive, Clara grabbed her co-worker's cast-aside cape and draped it across her head and shoulders in a makeshift cowl that she pulled low across her face, and tried to sink deeper into the shadows.
"For the love of all that's mechanical and magical, what is HE doing HERE?" Christopher, Clara's co-worker, best friend, and drinking partner for the night, wondered.
Indeed, thought Clara. She loved The Rusty Cog, in part because it WAS the kind of establishment her father preferred to avoid. It was lively, friendly, rowdy, the kind of place an up-and-coming family desperate to impress the nobility, and thus join their ranks, chose not to patronize; the very things Clara loved most about it.
Mr Longhurst barely tipped his head toward a man sitting alone at a table in a corner, the acknowledgment of a superior to his lesser. He sat down at the table with the lone man, looking decidedly uncomfortable and out of place. The two men began an earnest, murmured conversation.
Clara and Christopher exchanged a look, the kind of look that years of friendship hones into a whole conversation, no words necessary. How, for the love of all things mechanical and magical, was she going to get out of this one?! Living a double life could be so hard!

loves layers
...for example: wool button-up over a hooded sweatshirt (or steampunk equivalent) , over a vest over a tshirt.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course):Joe is a thief, a wanderer, an inventor, a charmer, and just wants to live his life how HE wants to live it. He switches professions as the mood strikes him, a gambler one day or a professor the next, BS-ing his way through it, always using his obscenely good looks and innate charm to get his way. Most every girl swoons in his presence then curses him when he's gone.
Although, outwardly he seems like a piece-of-crap liar, he really struggles with himself. He WANTS to be good and stable but he craves adventure too much to follow through on his good intentions. He always feels bad about lying and stealing AFTER the fact, especially when it was to a nice young woman. He's always gripping and pulling at his long bangs, a nervous habit that is his only outward sign of weakness.
His one true long term goal is to finish a pair of wings that will one day allow people to fly WITHOUT an airship. So he's always stealing bits of scrap metal or full blown grandfather clocks right out of people's houses to complete his masterpiece
.
The few people who have gotten close enough to know Joe well, know that the wings aren't just a ploy for fame and riches but they are what keep him going through his sudden depressions, they are the one adventure he has yet to live, they are true freedom.
**I've never let this character out to play with others (art trades) and to be honest I can't believe I'm doing so now. He's my favorite...be good to him.
CHARACTER BIO
-Character Name: Jebadiah (Jeb) McPherson
-Profession: Professional Smuggler, specializing in human trafficking
-Character description: He is a tall man, about 6'3" slender build and muscular. One has to stay fit if illegal activities are your bread and butter. 38 years of age and yet He has held up to the years very well. Many mistake him for a rather young and naive man. He dresses typically in mostly leather, rugged workboots and varied accutrements. (this is steampunk, use your own imagination here)
-Hair color: Jet Black
-Eye color: Gunmetal Grey
-Body type: Ruggedly Handsome
-Race Human
-Rating: Whatever, I am no prude
-Desktop size: 1680x1240
-Please include either screenshots or reference pics of your character, unless you want to leave it completely up to your fellow artist: Heh, wouldn't be as much fun if I did all the art for you now would it?
-Feel free to add anything you think might be helpful to the person portraying your character. General ideas for attire would be good, like whether your character prefers casual or formal look. Once again, very steampunk and casual, think gunslinger if that helps.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course): As a young boy, the lad grew up in oppulence and class, and then the economy bursts back in 2012. Worldwide calamity was afoot and there became two basic classes among the varied races on the planet. The very rich and the very poor. His family had always planned he would be one of the priveleged but as He finished University and graduated with honors in law, he had other ideas.
Rebelling against the sociological norm was always his passion and this as an adult would be turned into an entire career. One with which He could set his own limits, not the governing body of the state and worldwide government. So finding that in his course of studies and legal work, there seemed to be many who were in need of help being transported to other countries for politcal or other less savory reasons. Jeb made his way into the human smuggling business.
Spending much of his time in seedy and rowdy group of people one of his favorite places to network as it were is the "Rusty Cog" where he could relax, but never too much, find woman occasionally when his needs where higher than his desire to earn his way, and of course to find work which seemed to be endless where in this steampunk world, everyone wants more than they already have.
And now leaving the rest up to you the artist to complete his story, I look forward to some awesome works by this most elite group of folks. HAPPY STEAMPUNK ALL.......Let the adventures begin.
DarkStorm
-Character Name: Svucaterina. but everyone calls her Svuca
-Profession: Fortune Teller
-Character description: Tall, waves of black hair flowing down past her shoulders with the pale almost shimmering skin. Her eyes are dark enough to swallow the soul of a man.
-Hair color: Dark, almost black
-Eye color: Dark, almost black
-Body type: Tall, strong and curvy
-Race (Human, Elf, or other...yeah anything goes in this Steampunk world, just keep in mind that Elves are the magic wielding race, tho half elves could have latent abilities as well) : Human
-Rating (G, R, anything goes!) : prefer g
-Desktop size: 1440 x 900
-Feel free to add anything you think might be helpful to the person portraying your character. General ideas for attire would be good, like whether your character prefers casual or formal look. Svuca is a fortune teller and when working dresses the part with dresses that have tight bodices and full skirts. When she is performing daily chores, she wears a leather bodice, frilly shirts and leather trousers or a split skirt.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course):
Svucaterina was born in the mountains north of Morbourne. To survive in the mountains you must be strong and Svuca was a product of her environment. Her village was very small and it was not difficult to stand out; but she was beautiful enough to stand out in crowded Morbourne. She decided early on that the life of drudgery lived by her mother was not for her. She had a knack for reading people. She could see their fears, hopes and dreams as clearly as if they had been written on their faces. She knew that this wasn't magic such as she heard existed in the Elves in the south and in the city of Morbourne itself. She simply was very observant, not much escaped her notice.
Her neighbors thought her arrogant, when they behaved as she expected she would observe with wry amusement. The young men willing to court her were frightened off by her quick wits. As amusing as this was, she was very bored. There were no challenges for her. Thus, In the spring of her 20th year when the trader caravan came to her village, Svuca was going to go with them. She would learn the trade of the fortune teller and would make a life in Morbourne.

Character Name: Victoria Ambrell
-Profession: Herbologist and Owner of The Twisted Vine. Victoria sells all matter of herbs for cooking, medicinal and other darker uses, as well as candles, powders, tinctures, potions and poisons, all made by her skilled hand. Her shop is on the wrong side of the tracks, really just a metal shed with no windows. Herbs hang from the ceiling to dry. Scented candles light the dusty shelf lined room. Behind the counter hand draperies wihich separate Victoria's living space from the storefront. A simple cot and pot bellied stove, small table and chair are the only furnishings in the living area. There are always concoctions simmering on the stove. There is a door which opens into a small, brick walled yard, which is in total contrast to the dark eeriness of the shop. It is bright, colorful, abloom with the herbs and flowers she grows to make her wares. It is like a jewel in the dirty surroundings stirred up by the passing steam engines.
-Character description: Victoria's elven ancestry is only slightly noticeable..her build, the heart shaped face and delicate features. Her ears are only ever so slightly pointed. She grew up on a potato farm, far from the city and technology and was taught to be cautious of technology. Steam power and gears and gadgets are not for her. Her hair is golden blonde, long either down long or pulled up in a coif upon her head, occasional wisps and curls do spring loose. She prefers to wear dark clothes, usually skirts, never pants, suitable for both the garden and the shop. She wears boots, as the garden does get muddy. Think witch and cauldrons ( but in this case pots on a stove) without the hexagons and pointy hats.
-Eye color: Amber almond shaped, very intense

-Character Name:Eleanor (Ellie) Flint
-Profession:
Archaeologist -Character description:Ellie is in her early 30's, which is considered quite young in her field of work. Although she is quite respected as an archaeologist, she lacks the self confidence that comes with age and experience. She strives to always be very professional, and quite the "proper" young lady, tho neither come naturally to her.
-Hair color:Brunette with hints of red in the sunlight, normally kept dressed very neat and tidy, when let loose is quite long and unruly.
-Eye color: green as a cat's
-Body type: Very petite, slender, delicate looking, but with enough curves to not look childish. She regularly surprises people by being much stronger and self sufficient than she appears. Her face is gracefully proportioned and would remind one of a porcelain doll. From her mother she gets her slightly pointed ears and (seemingly) eternally youthful face.
-Race (Human, Elf, or other...yeah anything goes in this Steampunk world, just keep in mind that Elves are the magic wielding race, tho half elves could have latent abilities as well) : Half-elf. Tho never trained in any magical arts she seems to have a sort of "second sight" when it comes to her work. She always seems to know just where to dig and has an unusual insight into what she finds there. A talent that Ellie herself seems to consistantly underestimate, but is valued highly by her colleagues.
-Rating (G, R, anything goes!) : anything is fine.
-Desktop size: 1280x1024
-Please include either screenshots or reference pics of your character, unless you want to leave it completely up to your fellow artist:
-Feel free to add anything you think might be helpful to the person portraying your character. General ideas for attire would be good, like whether your character prefers casual or formal look. Ellie does her best to look feminine and proper, though she usually is found with her skirts tied up around her knees and back out of her way. She prefers sensible shoes, sturdy work gloves, and her unruly hair swept up as neatly as it will stay. She has quite a liking for "unusual" jewelery, and has several pieces that once belonged to her mother and is rarely without one piece or another.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course): Ellie was raised by her human father, noted archeaologist Sir Jonathon Flint. She grew up at dig sites and museums, and without a mother's care or feminine guidance. She doesn't remember anything about her elvish mother, and at a young age she learned that questions seemed quite painful for her father so she rarely asked. Although she has come into quite a large inheritance since her father's passing, she still prefers to go "slogging around in the dirt after broken bits and bobs." On most days out in the field one could easily mistake her for the camp laundress or cook, not the well-educated, intelligent, wealthy heiress that she is. At those formal functions that she cannot manage to find an excuse to avoid she is very akward and shy, retreating to the shadows and corners as much as possible.
Okay Eve you win!
-Character Name: Arrah Atwood
-Profession: Barber/Hairstylist

She has a slim, sexy, curvy body and she likes to show that off...especially to her male clientelle! She is very flirtatious. Most of her female clientelle have a love/hate relationship with her. They love her because she is really good at what she does for them, but hated because she is so confident and popular with all of the male clientelle. Every time she smiles , she wins your heart.
-Hair color: Deep Red with Golden highlights
-Eye color: Green with golden higlights
-Body type: Slim, curvy, sexy
-Race (Human, Elf, or other...yeah anything goes in this Steampunk world, just keep in mind that Elves are the magic wielding race, tho half elves could have latent abilities as well) : Human

-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course): I'm terrible at story telling!
-Character Name: Felicity "Fortune" O'Brien
-Profession: Archaeologist / Treasure Hunter
-Character description: Classic tomboy who grew up with her head in the clouds being dragged along by her drifter father to wherever the loot might lead him.
-Hair color: Red
-Eye color: Green
-Body type: trim & fit
-Race: half-elf
-Rating: Anything goes
-Desktop size: 1280x1024
-Tell us your tale: Fortune is most definitely Daddy's girl. After the death of her mother, an elven geomancer, she was taken along on her fathers "expeditions" and often sent off into those "hard to reach spots" he couldn't get into himself. She quickly outgrew her childhood fears, and is fast learning as many tricks of her father's trade as she can so that she can one day take over his operations. She is just as much at home in his airship as she is digging in the dirt. Just don't ask her which she fancies more.
While she has no real goals for her treasure hunting she does have a touch of her mother's magic, so anything related to Geomancy she finds especially interesting. "Old world" objects fascinate her and she has a rather unnatural attraction to anything "shiny".
-Character Name: Noa
-Profession: Highwayperson
-Character description: Young woman of around 22. Noa grew up with a single parent, her father. She loves the feel of the outdoors and the solitude it affords her. She is very handy with the firearm and the blade, and her favorite firearm is a .44magnum revolver (lovingly known as snake-eyes) she recovered from a scavenging run into one of the many abandoned settlements around her home. This revolver, another 2 pistols, a razor-edged kukri knife and a rifle are her tools of trade. She is usually quiet and reserved, unless when she ‘hunt’s’ prey, in which she becomes very animated, but still never saying much. Prey includes but is not exclusive to the many travelers during her outdoor adventures. She prefers to work alone, safe for certain occasions when she mounts ‘raids’ on settlements, where she would usually call on the help of her regular crew, 3 of 6 who are women.
-Hair color: dark brown/chocolate
-Eye color: Bright green
-Body type: slender and fit
-Race : Human female
-Rating: Anything is fine, just no nudity
-Desktop size: 1440 x 900 (smaller is fine)
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course):
At 18, Noa left her home in search of adventure, and ending up joining a group of pirates who were operating near her hometown. She built up her skill as a fighter during this period, preferring the use of her Kukri and her pistol above anything else. Even at her young age, her intelligence, skill and street smarts brought her reputation to great heights. She left this group after gathering much riches and experience and began operating on her own, which she prefers. Noa has been known to strike up deals for her convenience, and dispatching her conspirators at the first hint of betrayal (intended or not). Her regular associates, people she trusts, while not many; are the only ones she keeps her word to. Extremely confident in a fight, she has been known to take on multiple opponents with only her Kukri, as that brings her the utmost of thrills. She left her homeland after the bounty on her head became too high, and brought her companions along, always searching for riches, and above all, the thrill of the fight.
Noa has tattoos literally crawling all over her, I included 3 screenies for this, one of her favorite outfits is the plaid short skirt – it shows off the tattoo on her thigh. Although always changing her outfits, one thing in common amongst what she picks is the showing of her tattoos, one can say she is proud to wear them. She is seldom seen without a cap; although, in her younger days, she used to carry around a helmet for protection. With the ‘development’ of her career and her rising confidence, this changed to just a regular cap she picked up from one her many victims. Comfort and lightness is of most importance to her when picking her clothing.
(note: I’d rather not have that annoying thing on her left arm shown, they hasn’t been much screen shot activity ever since I added a mod to remove it, apologies for that.)

-Please include either screenshots or reference pics of your character, unless you want to leave it completely up to your fellow artist: Haine on the Armory Yay, new armory features are useful! Take a look, spin her around, make her dance, whatever.
-Feel free to add anything you think might be helpful to the person portraying your character. General ideas for attire would be good, like whether your character prefers casual or formal look. Haine is my deathknight engineer in World of warcraft. So, like all wow adventurers, she spends most of her time in armor. Feel free to use armor or not. (She's got to take it off sometime, right?) Haine currently carries large 2 handed weapons. She has a dark dry sense of humor and a constant ghoul companion. He's not so bright but he can at least carry the toolbox.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course): She blames human weakness for her current condition and so studies them with a peculiar obsession. Their love of machines, even ones they can't understand, was an enigma which led her to trying to understand the workings of the puzzling metal bits themselves.
Turns out, whirring bots and clanking metal bits are less irritating than chatty beings and they don't even seem to mind the somewhat unpleasant smelling ghoul (ok foul, let's be honest) Making gizmoes has had more uses than she originally imagined and bombs.... well, those are like icing on the combat cake.

-Please include either screenshots or reference pics of your character, unless you want to leave it completely up to your fellow artist: I always pictured Theodosia as resembling a young teen Milla Jovovich if you need a point of reference, but I'll leave it up to the artist.
-Feel free to add anything you think might be helpful to the person portraying your character. General ideas for attire would be good, like whether your character prefers casual or formal look.
Wears a pair of black jackboots most of the time, otherwise is a master of disguise, dressing up as anything from an upper class woman to a dock boy. Steals most of what she wears, so she might end up with some odd pairings.
-Tell us your tale (optional as always of course):
Theodosia beamed back at the suspicious scowl of Constable Sawyer, holding up a slightly ragged newspaper as proof of her good intentions and bellowing out the headline at the top of her lungs.
“EXTRA, EXTRA, Read all about it! Pirates Invade Booty Bay! Mayor’s Office Run by Robots! READ all ABOUT it!”
She looked over her shoulder to ensure that the constable had moved on before slipping the paper back into her basket, a stack of which were conveniently covering her latest crimes. Then she hopped onto her bike and sped away, occasionally swooping in to hit an easy mark on her way to the theater, where her army was hiding.
Theodosia had many names in the town of Morbourne, but her adopted family of waifs and orphans and runaways called her ‘General’, a moniker awarded due to her most excellent jackboots she had ‘found’ shining shoes by the airship port. Also, she was sort of their leader, though she didn’t like to think of it that way. In a world where class and status meant so much, she preferred to think of everyone as free and equal, no person more important than the next.
Unfortunately for some residents of Morbourne, she took a similar view of possessions. After all, who really owned anything? Did a lady’s gown belong to the lady, or the seamstress who built it, or the designer who imagined it…or the too-skinny laundry girl who took it away to be cleaned and forgot to return it?
Though Theodosia had a twisted sense of morality, she did have a system. No stealing from the poor or those who were good to the poor. Give back as much as you take. Don’t snitch. Her code was something of a work in progress, but it kept her honest and she scraped by alright.
Her bike jostled and bumped over the cobblestone street, but she sailed on the smooth stone of the path leading up to the theater. Tonight they would feast on stolen pheasant and apples while she regaled her troops with impressions of the townspeople (complete with stolen costumes) and dreams of their next adventures.
