Forum upgrade to Vbulletin 4.0

I upgraded the forum tonight to the new vbulletin version. Unfortunately the new system wiped out our old themes - so for now, you get 1. They are quite a bitch to customize now, so I spent $15 for a pre-made one and made it all artyish... ( paint.. get it? )

If there's any problems, let me or roz know.

_____________

ROz - Thanks for your patience guys. The upgrade is 'suppose' to make things better and add more features, but we gotta dig through the bugs first. Post here if you have issues so we can keep a record of it.

This is fixed, or should be, by the way. Please let me know if you guys notice the threads in alphabetical still.

the forum listing method got fubared. some are listed by thread title and backwards - got to go through each one and change that.

Question - What does the little tab thingy on the right in the thread list that says "!!!" mean?

The Gaming Geeks board still appears alpha to me - do I need to change a setting first?

That fixed it! i hate to be a pain but one more request - Is it possible to have it clear the new tags like it used too as you read them? As it is now I have to manually clear everything as read and feel like I'm missing some new ones. Not a big deal if this isn't a simple fix

Haven't figured out that one myself. =x I'll ask vex.

It appears if you just go back into the forum a second time it will clear it

EDIT: That time it did it the first time - so it appears that if you click the thread itself from the main forum (where it says "last post, and takes you directly to those you haven't read) then it doesn't clear it, but if you just manually go into the forum area and then back out it clears it.

If you return to the forum after reading the posts there, it will clear them, without having to use the "mark all posts read" (or whatever it is). If it's a sub-forum, like the Gaming Geeks one, then you need to go to the sub-forum, then the parent forum, then the main forum.

I've had this same exact problem on another forum elsewhere. I suspect it's because of the clock being messed up, but who knows? That might just be a coincidence (the clock was messed up on the other forum as well); especially if it's just me with the problem of the forum time being like 45 minutes fast...

HEY NO POSTING WHILE IM POSTING!

Go To First New Post isn't working... Instead it takes you to the last page you had read up to, but not the exact post. On another forum that also upgraded to VB 4, they found an interim fix here. Also, I cannot seem to include carriage returns in my posts.

Hey Mileron, which broswer (+version) and OS are you using?

With Firefox 3.5.7 in both Linux and Vista, the first new post functionality works for me, and I'm able to put line breaks in posts.

I'm not trying to be a browser/OS evangelist, just trying to help narrow down the problem!

Personal test: äöüß

Testing in Konqueror 4.3.2...

The newest post button takes me to the top of the last page like Mileron described.

Line breaks seem to be working?

(Are you using Safari or Chrome?)

After you log in, you actually have to refresh the page before it shows that you have logged in. It does it for both checking the box and not. Not able to really screenshot that.

Otherwise, I have no issues and the site looks good. :)

Yeah I'm not sure what happened. If you bookmark WWW.theangrycrayon.com and always come to the forum that way - you will be logged in. my redirect is misbhaving for some reason now.

Right now its marking forums as read using cookies, I can store that in the db though.

Go to First New Post fix added - you are fucking awesome for researching this and linking it to me.

I haven't had any issues with the carriage returns either. on OS X Safari, Vmware-XPpro IE8, or OSX FF 3.6

Roz, I am missing a forum.

Opened the page a moment ago and was informed, very loudly, that I won something, congratulations. Took me a minute to find the add, down at the bottom in the rotating banner.

Is the ad supposed to be there? If so, fine, if not, thought you guys should know. *hugs* Ive just never noticed spam ads here before.

What page were you looking at?
Lessa 15 years ago
main forums menu/page.

Its only happened once, but I thought maybe something might have snuck into your rotator.
oops, nm, there it is again.
ROzbeans 15 years ago
Less you might want to check your computer for spyware. =x We don't have anything like that at all within our rotator and it's never popped up for me, not after refreshing like a hundred times.
