I totally missed the Jeremy/BBC/Planet Earth connection. That's a good one. Not really seeing anything else that clicks though.
Greywood, I don't know that the person who snuck into the bathroom and hid in the stall is the same person who stood in front of Ethan's stall is the same person who Ethan underestimated is the same person who first confronted Dia.
I do think the two odd lines came from the same person though.
Maybe a breakdown of what I think happened would be good, then people can tell me if I'm wrong.
Vivian begins to clean up at the sink in the snack bar, when someone startles her. She brandishes a dish wand and Mafia_01 gets in her space. A second person (with a gruff, disembodied voice) comes up behind her, at which point she turns around and sees more people enter the room and join Mafia_02. They talk some smack and then eviscerate her - her major organs (and her eyes) are missing except for her heart. The remote control is in her rib cage, and the dish wand is sticking out of her mouth. This is how she is found.
And finally, links between the first kill and the second:
Day one:
‘The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.’
Day two:
Her eyes were missing, as well as her major vital organs save for her heart, which apparently she was holding in her right hand. The flat screen blared loudly at the people standing over Miss Scout’s body, and with disgust, Mr. Green noticed the remote control was tucked neatly into her rib cage. Moving around the table he approached the television and looked for the off button on the side as it spewed out information regarding extinction. The irony was not lost on Mr. Green. His bank patrons representing all walks of life were becoming extinct right in front of his eyes.
As someone pulled the kitchen dish wand that was protruding from her mouth out, Mr. Green finally found the switch and turned off the television.
Hearts, mouths, voices, speaking. Wut does it all mean?
Red continues to be a theme, but hell, it's mafia - if there's not some red going on there's a problem. Luxury continues to be a theme as well, but then it could be a really nice bank I guess.
I was thinking - could the charity symbolism, combined with all the talk of luxury and decadence, point to someone greedy (the deadly sin that opposes charity)?
Also, I just want to say that this keeps jumping out at me in connection with all this talk of character and being good (or not):
Victor/Keriath:
Victor longed for the comrade’s he used to have in his unit and without that attachment he has slowly lost his grasp of what it was to be a decent and honorable man.
Character is a big deal in the military and that odd statement about killing the innocent taking character could fit.
Anyway, right now I'm leaning toward Boris but the serial kill is coming soon so there might be new information, or I might be dead and unable to talk any more :(.
