DAY 3 OOC
Almonds are NOT yummy!

Not this early - there is no way to know this early. Even when Grim and I did that the first few kills I just killed inactive people because I had no clue who was who and wanted to let the people active hang around. Not saying Ruth knew that I guess, but it's a little suspicious.

We volunteered for trash cleanup tonight before I knew about Mafia - so I won't be able to clue dig for a few more hours - just had time to eat after work. State College apparently has one of the largest art festivals in the US - so our neighborhood does a thing.

My net is out so I'm having to post with 3G ....whee! Boris is definitely a mafia suspect, but I doubt I'll vote for him since he's inactive...I'll most likely be gunning for the sk atm.

You have a point there, and I'm not even going to try to deny the similarities, because they are there. Unless you're mafia, everyone is a one man team here, so they'll suspect/vote how they choose; I was mainly pointing out my own method of thought.
Which says to me, anyone trying to draw attention away from the SK - especially when they are a SUSPECT for the SK - is double extra suspicious with shady on top.

Sorry to quote from the voting thread Verileah, but
I was curious what you mean by this. As I see it, Boris was fingered predominantly for the SK deaths whereas Sammy for the mafia deaths..? Obviously, it's a bit late now since I've already voted but on the assumption that I survive to next round I was wondering if you could clarify this..? Ta.

I think Boris and Sammy are blurring together a bit in people's minds :\

Just about anyone can perform the heimlich on another person. The only limitations are: A) Extreme size difference... like a 4'10 person and a 6' person and B) Being able to wrap your arms around someone. Also, the heimlich can be done by everyone if the person choking is sitting down.
I am lost and confused with this, need moar infos xD
Vulash;97973
I'm not sure a shorter person couldn't perform the Heimlich. I was for the height clues, but I don't see this stuff as pointing at one or the other of the sexes honestly.

True, Sara, but the kill specifically mentions the arms around just below the breastbone and that his knees buckled beneath him implying he was standing up the whole time. So for me, this has to exclude all the smallest people from suspicion, and possibly incriminates the very tallest - although this depends how likely we think it is that the mods would have Googled Jeremy Clarkson's 6ft 5 height.

BTW, while Braggadocio is indeed the name of a character, it's most widely known for being Italian for "braggart" :P
Gongaa;97934
I asked my good buddy, the internet, wtf a braggadocio was, and he told me it's a character in Edmund Spenser's (whose sonnets I don't like) "The Faerie Queen." If I weren't the serial killer myself, I'd think that was a pretty un-pixie-like finger pointing at our pixie-like friend:

Another thing, has anyone looked into why the mafia chose to hit Dia / Vivien? Is there any logic that can be discerned from there that could help identify them?
Dia didn't really say all that much, but there's this:
The soft feet thing is a mafia clue after all.
Dia voted to lynch Myraan Avers, although so did loads of other people.
But that's literally it - so dunno if there's anything to make of that.
And I will also add that even though I switched votes to prevent a tie, the last few votes so far do seem to be a bit of a last ditch effort to save Sammy. More fool me for going along with it if that's what's happened - although it's equally possible that no-one else tallied up the votes before casting their own votes.
Dia didn't really say all that much, but there's this:
Dia
Verileah/Dani - she's a tiny pixie like girl...that could match the "force stronger than he thought possible of the individual’s hands" description, and make soft footsteps
All the shoes described are loud types ie : pumps/ boots/flipflops, but Gongaa/Sammy has on sneakers they'd make soft footsteps
Im focusing on footsteps and I don't knwo why

I didn't tally :X. I also didn't figure on being around when the voting closes.
For me, Sammy and Ruth are about equal on clues and suspicious behavior, so the tiebreaker for me was wanting to get rid of the SK.

I touched on it earlier in this thread, but I feel it's an important piece. I still disagree about basing a height clue off the Heimlich though.

No votes for the professor who specifically mentions genetics after the strong extinction clues make me sad.

From voting thread:
Why? There's logic in trying to get rid of the SK early on - if we're right, we've removed an entire kill each round. Even if Sammy turned out to be mafia, there'd still be a mafia kill afterwards.
If you mean what I called a "last ditch attempt to save Sammy" earlier then yes, I sort of agree with you there but I don't know how much stock I'd wager on it. After all, it would be an extraordinarily incriminating way for the mafia to vote.
Vulash;98068
I'll be watching all of you Ruth voters VERY closely.

It's not the choice to go after the SK - It's the pattern to voting, and the sheer number of Ruth votes. And quite honestly I've only seen one or two people who posted as if they felt the clues for Ruth were really as strong as the clues for Gongaa, but suddenly everyone is voting that way and claiming it is so. We'll see - It's friday so I can spend a bit more time on this after work and this weekend and do some breakdowns.
IF Ruth turns out to be mafia, and no SK, then we have some strong candidates in the people that voted for gongaa

I am currently at work and technically not supposed to be here. But I just wanted to make a quick response to you Vulash. I really didn't post last night because I really didn't have the time to and basically read through the OOC stuff this morning at work before anyone got here and based that on my vote. Since tonight is Friday and I have the weekend off I will be able to actually sit down and disect more things. Also I have a question. Has there every been Mafia players who never posted stuff or been really inactive on the board before?

By no means am I saying all Ruth voters, and if Ruth DOES turn out to be SK and Gongaa is townie then the mafia would have split their votes - or if both are townies. I'm just saying I'll be checking the patterns - based on the sheer number of Ruth voters some of them have to be mafia except under a few conditions.
Yes, sometimes the mafia "lay low" or end up having to be inactive for RL concerns. Lack of activity definitely doesn't make them a townie. Though, in general, people with the role of mafia are very stoked to play and end up spending more time on it.

Spirtis pointed out to me just a few minutes ago that this same logic applies to the Townies, and now I feel like an idiot for not seeing it. It's not quite the same, but...
If the Townies know who the SK is, they can let them wander about killing people, on the chance that the SK kills some Mafia. As long as everybody ignores anything the SK posts, then the only damage is that the SK has a higher chance of killing a Townie than they do at killing a Mafia.
The difficulty is in getting everyone to agree that the SK suspect really *IS* the SK, and then getting everyone to ignore everything they post on top of that.
Just wanted to throw that out there. Not sure that it would make me change my vote; it's hard to say at this point because changing my vote would mean nothing. I still feel the SK is too powerful to give free rein to, no matter if you are Townie or Mafia, but I feel it is a viable strategy and should have been looked at sooner but I was too dumb to look at the situation from two angles at once :(
....or Spirtis is fucking with my head for some reason!
Pharren
- Why would the Mafia go after the SK to "take the focus off of them"? If they know who the SK is, it would be in their best interest to let them go about their business... same as it is for the SK to let the Mafia do their thing. If the Mafia knows who the SK is, they are in a position of great power, and can eliminate their greatest threat whenever they feel like it (most likely towards the end, or when the number of Mafia members starts to dwindle).

bleh. my internet went down and just now came back up so I didn't get to vote, but my vote wouldn't have affected the outcome anyway, but just so everyone knows so you can figure it in to you decision making, I was going to vote the professor. I was unsure (first time playing this :) ) as to which we were voting for, which is why I was asking, but that is who I was most certain of, so that's who I was going to vote for. Not sure on the clues concerning the SK hit, but I am leaning towards either Borris or Spencer.
