DAY 3 OOC

Almonds are NOT yummy!

It doesn't say that the killer peered "up" at him, just that he peered at him.

Well fuck - ignore everything I said then. I guess I just read it too quickly.

In that case I'm back on board with Boris. A chef would also leave a clean kitchen. I'll dig for more later I have to get back to working.
pharren 15 years ago
I don't think Boris is the SK because, as Verileah pointed out to me earlier today, he hasn't been on the forums since 07/04, and wouldn't have been able to submit a SKID for a serial kill. He could very well be Mafia, however.

CLUES !!! CLUES !!! CLUES

Okay. I'm seeing lots of interesting things in here. I'll just list them all for now, with a few comments!

Clarkson dipped his hand into the bag of almonds and deposited three or four of them into his mouth at a time. -- More numbers! Also, the choice of words: "deposited". Maybe nothing, maybe something, and hell, this *is* a bank. EDIT: "three or four" reminds me of Mr. Green describing the bank, with a conference room on the third floor, and mentioning there are four floors as an afterthought.

How could he have a full stomach after witnessing the two murders, especially the last one? -- No... the REAL question is this:

HOW THE HELL DID JEREMY WITNESS THE MURDERS?

‘Oh no, I’d rather have something rather bad for me.’ -- ??

Jeremy smiled as the person peered at him with somewhat envious eyes. -- Why envious? Who would be envious of a rich man, or a famous man, or a man who gets to drive fancy cars? Anyone who fits any or all of the above would be a nice clue.

The stranger raised an eyebrow, listening intently, prompting Jeremy to continue with his ridiculous theory. -- Why is the theory "ridiculous"? And who is calling it ridiculous? The SK, or Jeremy himself? If it was Jeremy himself calling it ridiculous, that's another clue pointing to him being Mafia. If it's the SK calling it ridiculous, it could mean any number of things.

While deep in thought, he grabbed the almonds again and began shoveling them into his mouth, enjoying the salty taste. -- Agent Deadguy was also "deep in thought" right before he got killed by the Mafia. Not sure if this means anything. And again, a curious choice of words: "shoveling". Any ditch diggers out there? Or anything shovel-related?

He reached out and knocked over a gilded dish, shattering as it hit the ground. -- More fancy shit, but that might just be because of the bank itself.

The stranger waited through the twitching until the annoying British man was finally dead. -- Who would find him annoying?

‘Go…geez,’ Luc started. ‘Does that one have free will?’

‘Oooooh!’

‘Oh don’t be all happy about it. That kind of throws things off, doesn’t it?’

‘I think it says volumes for them.’

‘They’re talking apes, which, I’d like to remind you, was the best you could do.’

Two things here stick out to me: "free will" (any philosophers?) and "talking apes" (not looking good for our zoologically-inclined friends)

Alex straightened off the table and pulled at the cuffs under his black Armani sleeves. ‘Let’s let it run, see how it goes.’ -- More italian reference.

BIO COMBING TIME! And then maybe I'll go back and look at the Mafia hit again, since I didn't get to post much on it.

Anyway, I didn't know Jeremy was a real person. Either way I can't see Roz looking up his real height and then writing that obvious detail/clue (that one isn't vague at all) if it were someone 6 foot tall. I'm 5'7 and I don't really peer up when talking to people 6' (5 inches taller than me) - someone 6'4 though and I do have to look up.

I was basing the height thing on giving them the Hiemlich Manoeuvre as opposed to the "peering up" ref that turned out not even to be a ref ;)

I don't see why the mods wouldn't have Googled "Jermey Clarkeson" to get his height - I'd have thought the fact he was a real person would have been obvious from the photo of him in the bio ;) But I guess it depends whether or not any of the mods had ever heard of him or Top Gear.

However that they referred to him as the "annoying British man" indicates to me that they did look him up ;)

I'm definitely leaning towards Boris being Mafia... and I'm thinking Ruth could be the SK? Unless anyone has incriminating evidence that the SK is a man... I'll have to go back and read it again, but I don't think there were any references.

I also want to go back and check out who could be considered as having "envious eyes" besides the obvious green eyes of Ruth.

(Side question: Are we still supposed to be voting for who we think killed Eve (mafia) or do we vote for who we think could be the SK?)

Either one. The point of the game is to kill the mafia and any other threat. And the Mafia killed Dia, Eve was lynched.

Serial Killer
How could he have a full stomach after witnessing the two murders, especially the last one? A strong disposition and British gumption, that’s how!

This leads me to believe that Jeremy just might have been mafia.

Serial Killer
‘Or… braggadocio, cheekiness, or chutzpah!’ For the hell of it, he did his best eastern speak as he looked down his nose and guffawed quite believably, until he began to choke on the almonds.

Chutzpah is most definitely Yiddish, which makes me a suspect... hell even I was like, "zomg, I'm the Serial Killer... lynch me!" when I was reading it. However, like Klutz, Schmuck, Mozal Tov, etc etc.... it is kind of one of those Jewish words that has become popular with the Gentiles. Anyway, enough of me defending myself since I know that makes me look guilty even in my own eyes lol.

Serial Killer
‘What if it’s a type of…oh I don’t know…mad cow disease? Or a…a rage virus like 28 days later? Yeah…’ Jeremy considered the rage virus; it could be possible, couldn’t it? What a story that would make. While deep in thought, he grabbed the almonds again and began shoveling them into his mouth, enjoying the salty taste.

‘Wouldn’t that be funny though,’ he asked the stranger, ‘death by angry virus? Although that woman…that was an accident for the most part, caused by that angry mob.’

Jeremy snapped his fingers.

‘There it is again – angry people, so I guess it does count! Death by angry accident!’

This whole part stuck out to me the most. Although both are more references to Jeremy because he is British, I think it is worth looking to see if anyone displayed anger, or a temper in their bios. I have to go to work soon, so I can't really look into this, or the mafia kill much until I get home.

I like that "envious eyes" possible clue. This could be lifestyle envy or an eye colour ref

From the tall people (I still reckon the height is relevant), Boris is a man's man and could have Clarkson envy, Vivian has green eyes, Spencer has possible car envy (has an expired driving license and crashed his car)

I'm leaning toward the SK being a man, myself. As CaptainBinky mentioned, most of the tallish people (in order to do the upward motion of the Heimlich properly on such a tall guy) are men, and as the microwave was "dropped" and not thrown, it must have been pretty heavy to crush Jeremy's head. Nothing definitive, obviously, and the Green eyes and Yiddish references fit Ruth very nicely. Hmm...
Vulash 15 years ago
I feel pretty sure most women could pick up and drop most microwaves, and I'm not sure a shorter person couldn't perform the Heimlich. I was for the height clues, but I don't see this stuff as pointing at one or the other of the sexes honestly.

I have some thoughts but don't have the time to back them up y et or look stuff up.

Oh, and more twitching
Wystro 15 years ago
Ruth's description says:
She has large green eyes framed by well maintained eyebrows

The SK hit says:
The stranger raised an eyebrow, listening intently, prompting Jeremy to continue with his ridiculous theory.

They both specifically mention eyebrows! Just saying...

Well, the microwave thing was because this one sounded especially heavy, due to the "crush" verb, but when I just googled the weight of microwaves they don't seem as heavy as I thought (I think the microwave I have is just extra-heavy because it's old!). I'm starting to waver on the height thing too, as it really depends on whether the height of Jeremy was known whether that was a clue or not.

Had some extra time before work, so getting some thoughts down before I leave...

Shahara Duncan: Housewife, explains the straightening up of the kitchen. Also, could be non threatening and give someone a feeling of comfort to go on about their "ridiculous theory." Medium build/height for a woman, would give her strength to perform the heimlich on someone bigger than she is.
*afterthought: name sounds kind of eastern.

Nichole: Packs a mean punch and has a temper on her that never quits; although she has calmed down some she will still show her wild streak. Mad cow/rage virus reference? Also, she has been arrested for grand theft auto.

Ruth Shapiro: Not going to deny the obvious similarities here. Jewish, green eyes, eyebrow reference, yadda yadda.

Anyway, that's all I got for now. I'm getting a feeling that maybe Jeremy was mafia. I have no idea if there was any clues to Jeremy in the first mafia hit, but I think I read some suspicions in the second. If it's true, and the Serial Killer is focused on mafia, then as a townie I feel it best to focus on the mafia too. I'm going to watch the votes (whether it is me or someone else), because I have a feeling the mafia is going to be gunning for the Serial Killer to take the focus off of them. As a townie, I feel that the biggest threat to us at this point is the mafia... bonus for the townie team if Jeremy happened to be mafia.
CaptainBinky 15 years ago
Before we pat ourselves on the back too much about Clarkson being mafia, unless someone can point out something I missed the only thing that connects him to the mafia kill is that Top Gear and Planet Earth are both on BBC. However, a nature documentary like Planet Earth is the last thing you would connect with a petrol-head like Jeremy Clarkson.
Verileah 15 years ago
Yeah, Jeremy wasn't accused at all on day one I don't think - only with any seriousness on day two, after the SK would have had to send in the SKID. If the SK were trying to do a good-faith townie helping kill, they'd kill someone we suspected of being mafia on day one.

I know there's something wrong with that logic though :\.
Vulash 15 years ago
Well if Jeremy was mafia I can't believe the SK knew that since none of us suspected him much at all.
pharren 15 years ago
Me either, so Merreck's post is looking very suspicious to me.

- The SK wouldn't want to help out the Townies. As long as the SK is not pointing fingers at Mafia players (thereby becoming a potential Mafia target themselves), they would probably want the Mafia to live, to make their own job easier. Did Merreck accuse anybody?

- Why would the Mafia go after the SK to "take the focus off of them"? If they know who the SK is, it would be in their best interest to let them go about their business... same as it is for the SK to let the Mafia do their thing. If the Mafia knows who the SK is, they are in a position of great power, and can eliminate their greatest threat whenever they feel like it (most likely towards the end, or when the number of Mafia members starts to dwindle).

- The biggest threat to EVERYONE is the SK. The Mafia has the power of numbers but they are limited by constraints the SK does not have. They have to be careful how they talk. They have to be careful how they vote. They have to be careful who they kill. The SK essentially has a "Do Whatever The Hell You Want" card, and can make everyone's life more miserable in the process. They can kill random people and create chaos, or kill strategic people and create more chaos. The SK is definitely the most dangerous player in the game. Which says to me, anyone trying to draw attention away from the SK - especially when they are a SUSPECT for the SK - is double extra suspicious with shady on top.
Verileah 15 years ago
*thinks* I guess my problem with the 'if you're going to help the townies, kill someone they want dead' logic is that the SK isn't going to know who is who, and if they really wanted to help the townies, they cannot listen to the lynch mob, which is made up of mafia and townies. So they are kind of shit out of luck unless they can find the sheriff.

I agree with Pharren on the general SK stuff, but I don't know that I suspect Ruth any more than I already did based on her comments. It's a common enough line of thought, that the SK can ally with the townies, and it actually has worked to varying degrees in past games.
