Down here, they wear top hats and attend various upper-crust social functions. They're usually quite reserved and well-mannered, though I heard a story of one who'd enjoyed more brandy than usual and actually danced an Irish jig atop a banquet table.

All turtles carry a world on their back. Because Steve was only a baby turtle, his world was very small; in fact, it consisted of only a single tree. From this tree, fruit would fall, and burst open, and become all the living things of the world, including more turtles. This is the way of the universe. Turtles, all the way up, all the way down.

In order for the tree to bear fruit, however, little Steve would have to make it off the beach and into the water. No mean feat when one took the seagulls into consideration. One would think there would be a better system of preserving infinite worlds within worlds, but, like many things, Steve knew it was pretty much left to random chance.

Good thing Steve was fast, as turtles go. He’d been practicing in the egg, and he thought his odds were pretty good.

Wystro, what a concept; obviously only the classiest of the classy have the kind of free time it would take to ride a turtle around anywhere, but that would be something to tell the grandchildren (of which I have none). But speaking of which, Kilandra, I'm happy you've joined us, and with such a unique and elegant contribution. KaAnna, I dig those peeping eyes. Poor turtle, it's okay! Jet, my turtle looks pissed off like that all the time - not sure what I'm doing wrong, maybe some turtles just look like that.
