"Good Dog!" --Sketch Topic for 2/5-2/11

Here's mine. On a coincidental note, I just got an emergency rush dog portrait commission! I promise to make the paid job a lot more polished =)

A good dog is still a dog.



Still going to do "Happy Fun Ball", I swear!

I noticed 2 basic mistakes this morning:


1.) The angel dog should have his ears pulled back.

2.) On the plate is a slice of cake. It shouldn't have icing on the sides, only on the back, which isn't even shown. I *was* drawing it the right way, but the thin top layer of icing wasn't looking at all like icing, so my tired brain made things worse. It was 2 AM and I wake up at 6 AM. I forgive myself.


And that's why we do sketches in the first place! Yay!

PS: this is also a piece of social commentary that can be interpreted a few ways! Whee!

perhaps the extra icing comes from a deep seated memory of not getting enough icing on your cake when you were a child.. or perhaps a sibling stealing the icing from your cake.. or not getting cake at all, and so from this you felt the subconscious need to add additional icing to your cake even when it was not needed...

(my attempt at interpreting in a psycho-analysis kinda way.. my mom was a psych nurse, so yeah >< )

Maybe it's actually an alien organism that just looks like a cake. When you slice it, the wound heals into a scar that looks like what we Earthlings call icing.


@Kelefane: Any thoughts on this hypothesis?

This may actually be true :X I don't even like icing anymore, but I did as a child, and I do have an older sister, and stealing my icing is not something beyond her capacity...
