No kidding =/
It's crazy here in Atlanta. Gas stations ran out of gas today around 4pm. Prices were going up roughly every 10 minutes. Some places already as high as $3.50. Cars were blocking traffic lining up in the street waiting in these long ass lines to get gas. Took me approx 15 minutes to drive 3 miles up the road to my house on a normally quick stretch because there were SO MANY cars trying to get into gas stations.
It's scary to think about, but I think most of the frenzy is caused by this fear. If people would calm down and not get so crazy about it, it'd be a much more managable situation =(
Luckily my boyfriend and I figured that it might affect gas prices, so we filled up Sunday night, and got it 'cheap' at $2.49.
Man, I feel like such a petty bitch for complaining about gas prices when folks in the coastal south lost everything they own, including family =(
I'm an outlaw gasoline dealer...
I wish.

I think oil/gas companies jacking up prices and making booku bucks during such a horrible event is F'N MESSED UP!! Now, if they turned around and sent that extra $.50 per gallon to those in need in the affected areas, I might find some sort of respect for these jackholes...but no, THAT isn't going to happen... Saying that a hurricane causes inflation is shit of the bull...

Mike did remind me that the dividend we get from the state of alaska should be fucking uber next year O_o. Every october or so they send out 1k checks to EACH family member who is a resident of alaska. Even the wee babies.
That money will pay for our gas =x

Yep, haven't been out to see the lines for the gas station but I did hear about it. Mom has a friend who owns a BP and she told her earlier in the week to fill up before the weekend. I hear gas stations have ran out of gas here as well.

It's pretty crazy here in Houston.. we're lucky in comparison to a lot of y'all I s'pose, we filled up last night for $2.71 (no name scuzy store /shudder) then drove down the street past a Randall's that is normally the cheapest in the area where it was $3.31.. Across the street the Shell was only $2.89! I dunno WTF they were thinking but this scares me bad. X and I are already carpooling and that was at $2.50.. soon you won't be able to afford to go to work. And I shouldn't complain, everywhere you go in town you see Louisiana plates and it reminds you how lucky we got that the storm turned, or it would have been us.. But still, I need to go buy a fucking hybrid. Or move to Alaska and get free money, that sounds good too.

I got gas last night at $2.79 which was a good price considering by the time I drove the 20 miles home, all the other stations had it ten to twenty cents higher. My hubby and I went out to dinner, and saw one with regular at $3.49.
I seriously need to think about looking into taking the train to work. Even though my camry gets good mpg, its not worth it and I am in CT! I should have pushed more for a hybrid 2 years ago, when we got me the toyota. But no, I let the man have his way. *bonks head on desk*

There is absolutely no reason for them to up the prices on gas. They are gouging plain and simple. Oil / Gas companies have had record profits, and they continue to increase the prices. Gas stations are told they have to raise prices before they can get their next loads. :( I think I'm gonna buy an ugly ass Hybrid car.

I'm only getting scheduled 3 days a week at this smaller bookstore I started working at a few weeks ago. I was thinking about calling Barnes & Noble and asking them to give me a couple of days a week, since I'm still on the payroll.
With the gas prices they way they are, and steadily rising in the aftermath of Katrina, I don't think the amount of money I would make by working at B&N two days a week would justify the extra gas it would take for me to commute.
Maeya, you were smart to fill up on Sunday night. I wish I had thought of that. I only work 5 minutes from home now, so I usually just put 15 bucks in and that will last me the week. Now I'll be lucky if that will last me 3 days.

It was 2.50ish yesterday, I shudder what it is now. It's usually about 20 cents cheaper here in alaska than in the lower 48 but washington was already up to 2.80 last week. =/

Gas, in parts close the areas hit, jacked their prices to 4.00 - 5.50 a gallon to take advantage off of a get rich quick scheme. If you go to CNN.COM the president has already stated it will not be tolerated and they will face charges. Gas her in NJ rose to 3.00 a gallon just last night and expecting to reach up and past 4.00 a gallon by next week.

It's always jacked in our area but it will get worse of course. It always does.
With any hope they will encourage car companies to start producing electric cars and we can stop sucking up the earth's natural resources so that we can polute the earth's natural resources ;) Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hippy or anything...but it does really start to get to you when you think how dependant they've made us on things that in the end may cause us lasting harm.

If we could trade in our jeep and not be upside owing like 20 million dollars, i'd buy one right now. Hell, the next car we get is going to be one. I'll scream bloody murder if it's not =D

It's big as hell for a small car and the HUD on the dash is pretty fucking cool. It has a button that starts the car. It always made me giggle. The waiting list on these are horrendous though and god they jack the sticker price up =x I can't imagine you can buy one cheap these days.

2006 Honda Civic just opened up a new model. This car will run on gas, get 50 miles to the gallon. At times during travel, this car will run on spurts of electric power and not purely gas.

In the past year there have been many car companies coming out with hybrids; Honda, BMW, Lexus, to compete with Toyota. So they are out there, or starting to appear. Being the hippie that I am I look for this kind of news. hehe
You know, there have probably been so many incredible inventions to replace or take a large portion of the gas powered market that have been buried by the big business of oil. Shame people are more intent on lining our pockets here and now instead of thinking longer term that would benefit everyone.

I just filled up at lunch today and it was 2.99 for the "cheap stuff" here. 60 bucks to fill my tank and a tank lasts me like 10 days tops. Go me and my 15.9 miles per gallon :x
