Hogwarts Mafia Round 1 /ooc discussion

I'm going to have to go back and reread the mafia portion, but for the serial killer - I got the impression that they had a pet rat before?

"You remind me of a long lost friend of mine." David was not very reassured by this considering the awful leer that accompanied these words.

The student petted him on his stone stiff head though and walked into an unoccupied room. He was then placed on a table as the other regarded him thoughtfully for a minute.

"Yes, just like my old friend. I bet you're terrified.. he was always was terrified as well and in the end he had every right to be. For he failed me... and do you know what happened then?"

I think the serial killer is possessed by Voldemort and he was commenting on his previous assistance from Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew).

David paused and sat on his hind legs wondering if they'd just gotten a new wand, why else would they be so happy to simply wave it around in the air?

Sounds like a noob. First years would have just gotten their wands...

Oh ya...that was definately Voldermont...

The question though is why?

Why is he in the school as a student?

And what do our characters have to do with this insideous plot?

Ah well that's going to make it difficult for people who haven't read all the books then =/

the mafia scenario explains how the SK gets possessed by Vold if you read it...

I skimmed it =x

"...needs to be tested you see. So you're death will serve a higher purpose. You should feel honored to be the first."

He felt nothing of the sort actually, here was some of the biggest news of his young life as a fortune teller and he was never going to get the chance to tell anyone at all. It had been true..all true, he had never once been wrong and he knew he was not going to be this time either...

"Avada Kedavra!"

And there it was, the green light that was the last thing David Trelawny actually saw.

One of two things is going on and i am leaning towards a tom marvolo riddle theme. Lord V, was the only one who posessed the Avada Kedavra curse as well as the one that caused encrusiating pain to its recipients. Now, never has it been mentioned that he taught his death eaters these curses so that leads me to believe that Lord V has once again entered Hogwarts in the form of a student.

I know David was turned into a rat and everyone would seem tall, but there is an unusually high number of references to "looming" and the like... maybe a tall student?

Also, the wand thing has me wondering... how many people mentioned having a wand in their backpack? How many tall people?
Den 17 years ago
As students of Hogwarts, not having a wand in your backpack wouldn't necessarily mean you didnt have one. My character always has her wand, though she wouldn't carry it in her backpack, as it wouldn't be handy. She would either have it in her hand, in a pocket of her robe, or tucked elsewhere that it would be handy.

Just got home and read it real fast - need to go shower then I'll clue dig. DOn't vote till I do!
Vudu 17 years ago
well i think i have an idea on a way to clue it down they turned him into a rat so the only ones that we know can turn people into animals are transfigures and the one that killed him has to have been at hogwarts long enough to learn spells to kill like someone who likes defence against the dark arts so who ever the serial killer is has to know dark arts what im coming at and someone in the mafia has to know transfiguration

My take so far (and I might be totally off the deep end) - I haven't really bothered to look much at the Mafia since the first hit always seems so vague. I focused a lot on the SK, and came up with:

[quote]The voice of the student stated clearly and he could hear footsteps as they walked in an unhurried fashion towards him.[quote]
-So the SK seems pretty cool and collected.

-The references to waving a wand around and having to test it first hint at either a first year or someone who likes their wand a whole lot.

-They use a charm (petrificus totalis)

-They have an "awful leer." But this could be because they're posessed by Voldy.

In the same vein as above, I also focused on the spell cast, except I looked at the charm instead of the avada kedavra, which is probably recognizable by everyone, young or old.

Dante Duville struck me as interesting, as he lists charms and history of magic as his favorite subjects, and also claims in his bio to study things a whole lot, to the point of making people uncomfortable. This could certainly qualify as leering, imo.

Also there's Ashmore the wand freak, who wants to study wands and wand-making, He would have a reason to 'test' the wand, but I didn't really see anything to lead me to believe he would wave it around happily.

Then there's Rorri, who likes charms, has a spare wand in her backpack that might also need testing, and has a charms book in there as well.

Others who listed charms as their favorite subject - Thaddeus Hendershot, Emeraude, Aniyah, Jerele, and Angelina.

This might be a weak argument I suppose, but it stuck out to me.

Could just be testing the death curse in this kids body - though that seems weak for the way it was phrased

Actually, that would be incorrect. The Death Eaters were known to use the unforgivable curses (Neville's parents are in St. Mungo's from torture by the cruciatus curse) it's just that most other people won't use them because they're so horrible. We already know Voldie is in a student from the scenario post though.

Petrificus totalis is a pretty common charm - it's taught in first year charms, I believe. It's common nature wouldn't necessarily mean you would have to be a charm freak to know it. This would support an argument that the SK is a first year in addition to the wand amazement ideas. Perhaps Voldie wants to make sure the kid is up to casting spells what with being so young and untrained.
Ashmore 17 years ago
well the fact that tall people are mentioned could not mean so much. Everyone one is tall when your are the size of a rat...

On the point about wands... they are a dime a dozen here...its like finding a gun at a gun show... go figure... so until there are more hints about the wand, I feel its a dead end.

"“Well an owl looks like a bit of a trick according to this book and….well I don’t think Lucius Malfoy would much fancy being turned into a toad…”

Just a note, Elise Meyhr mentions keeping transfiguration book in her backpack and it appears thats what the mafia is looking at, it is also her favorite subject

I do agree Blake MacGregor looks very suspicious because of the wand fascination and the waving around

Edit, Namilah also has a transfig textbook

Lol, first of all. The Mafia and the SK ID’d the same person for a hit. That is funny. Mai was the last of the Mafia in the last game (and the ultimate winner). My thoughts are that this may have been a revenge hit from players of last Mafia (only a feeling).

My data…

SK

"You remind me of a long lost friend of mine." David was not very reassured by this considering the awful leer that accompanied these words.

>Someone with History of Peter Pettigrew (vol. 3, p. 207, vol. 3, 4. 5)

The petrifying charm wore off and something fell from his lifeless hand and rolled across the floor.

>Someone good at Charms

There above him stood a student waiving a wand in the air with a satisfied expression on their face. David paused and sat on his hind legs wondering if they'd just gotten a new wand, why else would they be so happy to simply wave it around in the air?

>An interesting tidbit that I overlooked at first. Explained on the last possible player that fits the SK MO.

List of Possible players with matching MO’s

Rorri Rosethorne
Favorite Subject: Charms
Rorri is one of 3 daughters born to an extremely wealthy family of wizards that had prior connections with the Malfoy house.
- ding ding ding…

Dante Duville
Favorite Subject: Charms and History of magic.
- Muggle lover….

Thaddeus Hendershot (me.. gulp)
Favorite Subject: Music and Charms

Emeraude Kinaley
Favorite Subjects: Charms, Flying
- Not pureblood however….

Aniyah (no last name)
Favorite Subject: Charms and Defense against the Dark Arts
Ani comes from a quiet, but wealthy family of wizards who are known for their loyalty and dedication rather for their display of wealth or any power that may bring.

Jerele Evanston
Favorite Subject: Charms, defense against the dark arts
- Not pureblood…

Angelina Atherton
The daughter of an auror and a field researcher of the Ministry of Magic (both pure-blood)
- Noted, Aurors are Death Eater hunters…

Jerele Evanston

Favorite Subject: Charms, defense against the dark arts
Only child, father was a muggle, also a midget, mother was a giant (12'3"), grew up in northern Europe, moving every 1-2 years.
- Not pureblood…

Blake Macgregor (sorry Ash…)
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration
Blake would often stay up late at night practicing chants and studying wand designs. Blake loves everything about wands, how they work, how they look. Once he took a liking to this subject all other things in life did not matter. He is purely obsessed about it.
- Noted only because of the last tidbit of information that stuck out about Wands

Mafia

“Alright, we’ll do this one then. The rat. Everyone got the spell?”

>Someone good at Transfiguration

Elise Meyr
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration

Blake Macgregor (sorry Ash…)
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration
Although he is not rude or mean to anyone else he does not understand why some people resent him from knowing so much about Transfiguration.

Equala Weir
Favorite subject: Transfigurations. Very much wants to be able to change into a horse, but can do everything but, wouldn't you know.

Ufajamaya (aka: maya)Tonks
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration

Leroy Mrsic
Favorite Subject: Potions & Transfiguration
- Note, a First Year…

Namilah Narayan
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts

Briare Blackwood
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration

Simon Huntington
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration

Steven Hiss
Favorite Subject: Transfiguration

Karina Goshawk
Favorite Subject: Potions, with Transfiguration a close second.

CONCLUSION

Mafia could be anyone. Transfiguration is the only clue that is available to ID who is who. Anyone’s guess at this point.

The SK is another deal. I think there is definitive evidence.
A – Ties to the Dark Lord, Peter Pettigrew
B – The Wand blurb in the round 1 description of the SK

I think I'm on to something but need more time - no voting!
Mai 17 years ago
Actually if you go back and look at past games you'll see that the first hit is by both the SK and the mafia on a mod character.

I'm modding this game, Duexe, that wasn't my personal character.
