Say Anything.
'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.
Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort
This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.
So, say anything.
The children have decided to spend their last day on earth going to a strawberry festival.
So I was driving along a back road to meet my boss and saw a pretty husky dog running along the side of the road. Pulled over and got her attention, she came up with no collar and bloody paws, but otherwise looked too well cared for to be a true stray. After a moment's hesitation I let her in the front seat (didn't want to risk getting out and opening up the back with traffic whizzing by) and drove her to the nearest animal hospital. She'd worn her nails down to the quick but was otherwise unhurt. Microchipped, but the owners had not activated the chip. So there were phone calls and whatnot, and in the end I decided I wanted the vet to take a good look at her and then I would take her home until we found her owner.
Matt's little heart is going to bleed husky when he sees her :\.
Good luck finding her owner !
Good luck !
We had hoped a rescue might take her, but to my dismay every rescue we've called has been full and not taking new surrenders. We can't take her to the pound - I can't take her somewhere where there's a chance she'd be euthanized. We've let the pound (and everyone else in the state, it seems) know that we found this dog, but I'm not taking her there. A humane society might take her but only after she lives with us for a month. We've been asking friends and family if they want a dog but frankly most people who want and can have a dog already own one, it seems.
*having a sad*
On the topic of rapid behavioral changes in animals: After only 4 days of being alone, my cats seem to have been completely cured of their previous addictions to both being fed - regardless of the amount of food already extant in their dishes - at 6pm every day (this may be due more to the new dishes they have, which have a reservoir of food that replenishes the dish as they eat), and of their demand for kitty treats immediately afterwards. They were total crackheads about the treats... if you opened the drawer in which they were kept at any time around 6pm, they would come running. If you touched the bag containing the treats, they could hear it, even if they were outside on the patio, through the closed windows and sliding glass patio doors. They could somehow distinguish the sound of the treats bag from the sound of other plastic bags. If you even said the word "treats" they would spaz out and stand by the drawer, meowing. It was weird enough that they needed their food dishes topped off before they would eat, but the treats thing was really annoying. A most welcome change. Now if only I could cure them of wanting to go out and come back in and go back out and come back in and go back out 200 times a day...
To be fair, working at a place where they euthanize animals and see all sorts of animal mistreatment and bullshit would probably suck my soul out pretty quickly too.
Have you checked petfinder? They have classified ads section for lost dogs also you can search up rescues in your state maybe theres a husky rescue thats not super close but will travel to get her? Maybe the specified rescues wont be full.
It looks like we'll be able to get a rescue to list her but we would need to keep her a bit longer. We've been giving them breaks from each other during the day - she's kind of relentless with the playing and our dog is a couch potato. Also playing with other dogs is kind of new to him. They are sleeping in the same room now and there don't seem to be any nighttime problems other than a fucking amazing amount of dog hair on my chair.
Not that we wouldn't be thrilled if we found the owner, of course. But I feel like we've done our due diligence in that regard - flyers, phone calls, internet, visiting places in person and asking around.
I feel...fantastic. And then there is the rp on SA which has had me with a constant smile on my face for most of a week. Yay to things going right..for once!
