Hmmm.. well having just read the latest serial killer hit, it seems to me that the killer has to be tall (at least comparatively), strong (so reasonbly heavy-built), and silent.

Serial Killer Hit
The figure quietly slid off their bunk... the two slipped silently out of the Dragon Army barracks... they moved undetected through the tunnels

Serial Killer Hit
... the figure reached out and grabbed her, snapping her arm back and slamming her up against the airlock controls.

Serial Killer Hit
Teresa pulled against the grip of the figure but they held onto her with the utmost tenacity

I'm swinging towards Splazmonnotroid as the SK, to be honest...

  • 4'7" and 108 lbs - big enough to be forceful

  • Trained in standing very, very still indeed

  • found abandoned as a baby on Christamas morn (Jesus reference... linked to Shepherd)

  • Macgyver-like experience using toys and appliances as escape tools - exactly the sort of person who'd make a noose from socks for example.
...although it's difficult to say since he's not posted on here with any opinions, nor voted in the townie lynch.

I noticed that the SK had no problem opening the airlock, I would imagine you'd need some high security codes to do that. Not sure what it means quite yet though, I'll need to study.

Also:

A knife = $39.99
A colt .45 = $699.99
An SK hit that gets a Mafia killed = Priceless

This mean the SK got a mafia?
Verileah 18 years ago
I think that's someone's sense of humor showing - the sig has been there since before the game even started afaik. It means nothing in either direction.

Carrying her body inside and laying her down once more, the serial killer stepped back out and closed the door, signaling for the outer door to open.

This indicates that the SK is strong enough to carry her, rather than simply just drag her along the floor... so perhaps a weight either very close to, or heavier than, Teresa (85 lbs).
People who fit this criteria:
-Zenan X Clark (90)
-Michael Andrews (79.2)
-Domo (147)
-ABAY (105)
-Ezekial Rainsfield (125)
-Splazmonnotroid "Sporkmundoframp" Gralanglioprelammbiac (108)
-Emilio Salvaggio (100)
-Willie "Pinky" Cleene (85)
-Grenn Rosby (maybe, there's no specific weight given)
-Armando Salvaggio (100)
-Gwendal "Ducky" Ulrich (80)

'I know. Come with me.'

Waiting for her to stand and follow, she accepted the offered hand and the two slipped silently out of the Dragon Army barracks. Both clad in only their underwear, they moved undetected through the tunnels, dropping levels to a secure destination.

Maybe I'm going down the wrong track with this one since all of the platoon sleeps in the same room anyway, but the timidity of Teresa combined with the handholding, being clad only in underwear, and Teresa's obeying of the mysterious "come with me" with no explanation, might indicate that the SK is either younger than Teresa and/or female.
People who fit this criteria:
-Zenan X Clark (11, male)
-BizzBizz (6, female)
-Stormie (8, female)
-Domo (9, male)
-Talia Brady (7, female)
-Najda Sorrento (11, female)
-Janie Adams (6, female)
-ABAY (13, female)
-Splazmonnotroid "Sporkmundoframp" Gralanglioprelammbiac (8, male)
-Willie "Pinky" Cleene (9, male)
-Grenn Rosby (10, male)
-Eduardo Perceptibule Jones (11, male)
-Jacob (6, male)
-Gwendal "Ducky" Ulrich (6, female)

People fitting both criteria:
-Zenan X Clark
-Domo
-ABAY
-Splazmonnotroid "Sporkmundoframp" Gralanglioprelammbiac
-Willie "Pinky" Cleene
-Grenn Rosby
-Gwendal "Ducky" Ulrich

Ok as MEC said you would think with the airlock not just anyone can open it up. The only one that I can remember that would have had the security codes is a former commander. Which Pharren was a former commander. I really doubt they would have thought about changing the security codes on the airlock. But that is only 1 of my first impressions.

re: MashPotato

Nice logic, says the 13 year old, tall, heavy, quiet, creative, sensitive kid that's conveniently left off that bottom list cos the SK can't be old and male apparently :D
SnowDragon 18 years ago
True Ez they could have been either younger and /or female but could have been someone that held command at one time. So Theresa would have trusted them. Ugh I am still confused.
MEC 18 years ago
Um...they would never give the codes to a kid, not even a commander. That'd just be retarded.

Ok this stands out big time to me.
MashPotato 18 years ago
In addition to already knowing the codes, it might also indicate being able to hack computers (ABAY, Armando Salvaggio, Jacob) or the uncanny ability to open doors (Splazmonnotroid)

I might have missed some names here, i'm just skimming the Specialty category ;)

EDIT: maybe mechanical abilities as well

Does seem to be looking bleak for Splaz... adding Mash's points to my list...

  • 4'7" and 108 lbs - big enough to be forceful

  • Younger and male - fitting the holding hands thing

  • Trained in standing very, very still indeed

  • found abandoned as a baby on Christamas morn (Jesus reference... linked to Shepherd)

  • Macgyver-like experience using toys and appliances as escape tools - exactly the sort of person who'd make a noose from socks for example.

  • training in lock-picking to open doors (airlock)

I was looking over the last mafia kill, and it mentioned how the mafia knew how the first kill went down. Wasn't the SK and the Teachers the only ones who knew?

Edit to add: I must say, all the evidence pointing to Splaz does seem strong.
MashPotato 18 years ago
In addition, Splaz has been around long enough to become disillusioned about the establishment and perhaps jealous of Teresa's success. Splaz has been through several armies (Hedgehog, Gibbon, Makak, Baboon, Goat):

...It wasn't about the buggers. It was about the possession of Earth and the strongest country with the smartest and most talented leaders of the future...only the teachers were fucking it up by looking to the wrong people, relying on past successes for future gain when really it was all foolish superstitions....
Turning to the side the figure zeroed in on the soft feminine breathing that had become their obsession. The undeserving, calculating and completely-unworthy-of-leadership female who, against the most predictable and obvious conclusions, continued to succeed at battle school and forge a path to Command school.
MashPotato 18 years ago
One thing that does seem in Splaz's favour is that his lack of empathy doesn't seem to jive with the previous sk hit that well.

Taken to an orphanage by a street entertainer who pretended to be a rubbish gold-statue in the park all day, Splazmonnotroid found it difficult to empathise with and befriend the other abandoned souls there

Pinual was there already, waiting. He looked unduly frightened; this would be easier than the soldier had thought, and frankly they already thought it would be a fairly simple matter to push this kid over the edge. Pinual was a prime example of the way the adults mishandled their charges – he was too caught up in the fantasy game, it was just unhealthy. And what did the teachers do? They encouraged him. The kid clearly had problems, but did they give him the help he so desperately needed? Of course not – they relied on the genius that lay so close to the insanity that they dare not disturb it.

“Relax. I want to help you.”

“…help me?”

With a fixed smile, the figure tonelessly replied, “I think you have a problem. Don’t you?”

“What’s that in your hand?”

“There is a way out, Pinual.”

Well, I was going to point out that Chuck E. Cheese = mouse = mousey brown hair and quiet as a mouse = Teresa Sol. Not much point to it now though. Although it is interesting that Chuck E. Cheese was created by the founder of Atari and Lynn was killed by a joystick.

That's very true Mash. But is that quote from the first SK hit really empathy, or is it cold blooded ruthlessness? I don't know that it's possible to say for certain that the motives in the first kill were really anything about the best interests of the victim - especially considering the detached brutality of the second kill.
Rae 18 years ago
I don't think that we should focus so much on the need for codes as being the basis for who we lynch. No where is the hit does it indicate the need for codes we are just assuming that codes are needed based on a common understanding of how the military works. I think we need something stronger that is actually from the hit and not conjecture.

True; depending on how you read it, it could either be empathy or just an attempt to justify the sk's actions in their own mind.

Yep, but empathy isn't a word I'd use to describe anything about the second killing. So either the SK's motives are changing kill to kill, or the first kill wasn't anything to do with empathy.

edit: ...except for the holding hands thing which was quite tender. Except that tenderness only lasted up until the SK had Teressa where he wanted her so it's not necessarily genuine.

Oh I don't know! Goddamn it, my head hurts! :D

To me, the SK seems more manipulative than empathetic. He* isn't actually helping anyone, after all, he's murdering them.

*he/she whatever, I dont know. The violence and physical strength required to hang someone against their will and beat someone to death makes it seem more likely that the SK is male. However, in the actual Ender's Game book, the children seem capable of performing extraordinary damage despite their small stature. Towards the beginning, before he goes off to Battle School, Ender gets in a fight at his normal school and accidentally kills the other kid. Later on, in the shower fight scene, he headbutts the kid (or something like that, I can't remember) and the kid again dies.
