First Thanksgiving I won't be spending with my daughter :(
She'll be spending it with friends though, so I'm okay with it.
Thanksgiving plans?
Who's flying out (my heart goes out to you)?
Who's cooking?
Who's just showing up? (ME!)
Anyone have any good recipes they wanna share?
Don't forget to post pics!

We're heading over to Jello and her new house =) She's doing the Turkey (thank god for everyone) and we're bringing the snackums. I posted some recipes that I'm going to try this yeah in the cooking section.
Jello's husband, Nancy (long story, long but FUNNY story) just retired and so they bought a house here - forever sealing their fate in permafrost Alaska. Real beautiful brand new house, so I take pictures!

When Holiday Guests Won't Leave
How to handle party stragglers.
By Andrew Boorstyn
The holidays are here, and there will be lots of comings and goings -- and perhaps a bit too much of staying. Sometimes friends and family are having such a good time at your celebration that they forget to go home. Of course, all good things must come to an end -- and hosts need their sleep. Here's a lighthearted look at handling party stragglers and houseguests who won't leave.
Know How to Say Good-Bye
If guests won't leave after a party, it's perfectly acceptable to suggest politely that it's time to go. Practice these phrases from expert socialites.
Abigail van Buren (Dear Abby): "Oh, dear, just look at the time! I didn't realize it was so late. I'm going to let you nice people go home, so you can retire."
Judith Martin (Miss Manners): "It's been wonderful having you. We really enjoyed it. I'll get you the train schedule. Will you be needing a ride to the station?"
Walter Sickert (British Impressionist painter): "Do come back when you've a little less time to spare."
Outwit the Long-Term Lodger
If you don't want to play host for a few days, tell aspiring guests that it will be impossible for them to stay with you, saying, perhaps, "It's just not a good time for me." If you don't mind having someone stay over, be very clear about how long the person is invited to stay: "Make yourself at home, but only through Friday night -- I'm having the living room painted this weekend." Then make arrangements to have the living room painted. Here are some other ideas you might want to try (but probably shouldn't!).

- Avoid buying a sofa bed. Offer your guests the floor.
- Put a rock under the guest mattress. Or a typewriter.
- Make sure the refrigerator is empty, or full of dairy products and turned off.
- Tell them your key is hard to use, then change the locks.

I've honestly never had the problem of lingering guests. I'm always a little sorry to see people go.

The hubby and I are going over to our best friend's house. Her husband is out with the Navy atm, but her family will be down here. So, as long as I haven't popped or been told I'm forbidden to leave the house, we'll be over there.

My Mom, Dad and Sister are flying in to spend the Holiday with us! *excited happy dance*
Mom's pretty firm on not wanting to do a big dinner on Thanksgiving day which is fine with me. I do plan on subjecting them to Chichken Adobo while they are here tho.

I think I'm going to my Mother in law's for brunch, then over to my mom's for smoked turkey dinner.
I wont need to eat for a good week afterward :)

Just going to roast a chicken. Probably have potatoes of some sort, asparagus, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes that Erik likes. I dunno what else. I should look up a few more recipes but it might be going over board since there's only 4 of us and none of our family live closer than 12 hours away =D

Kagi and I are going over to a friend's house for dinner... she's providing the turkey and potatoes, I'm bringing a veggie and dessert.
Carrots.
Angelfood cake, cherry pie, and a pumpkin pie.
Friday I will be cooking up the bird we have at our house because Kagi's all depressed that we won't have leftovers.

Nothing special here. Probably gonna sleep in, then have a generic dinner with the parents. Friday I'm off, so I'm going to the movies with someone who's working a half day. Maybe gonna hang at a friend's place and act like Wiitards for the Wiikend since I finally bought a Wii and am leaving it hooked up at his place since he has a bigger TV and sound system.

Got invited to join some friends out at one of the more nicer restaurants in the area....The Slocum House. I've lived in this part of California for 20 years now, and this is the first time I will have gone here. I'm excited!

Some of the items on the menu have my mouth watering, except they have way too many nuts in their recipes for me (I'm allergic). What really scared me is that picture on their front page. If I ran into someone who looked like that, I'd flee out the door before it had a chance to shut and lock me in for all eternity. Seriously, why did they Photoshop that girl? She looks like they took her head and plopped it on a tiny mannequin.

I'll probably spend the morning in-game since I don't have to cook (I do the Christmas feast - Can't wait!!!). We're going to my adopted parents house for an early dinner then to my best friend's for dessert where we'll hide out from the insane shopping crowds all weekend, not coming home til monday morning!
oh - and I have to watch the Macy's Parade - Serious Tradition in my house - the Holiday season cannot start until I see Santa at the end!!

I'm going to my mom's which we do just about every year. The only family member who won't be there is my little brother, who lives in California and just visited last month anyway. I'm roasting the turkey if Derek doesn't fry it, and everyone else is doing all the other stuff. Luckily mom is only about 20 minutes away, so the turkey doesn't have far to ride ;)
I have a recipe for a yumski strawberry dessert, but it's at home and I'm at work, so I'll have to post it later :) Oooo, not to mention a killer fudge recipe that a coworker gave me; this is the BEST fudge I've ever had!! :D
