I think we did this last year too. Feel free to share =D
Mike has the uncanny ability to buy things that I want, that I didn't realize I wanted till I get them. I was standing in the book aisle of Sam's club reading the ending of Billy Crystal's book '700 Sundays' or some amount yesterday on xmas eve. I got all weepy reading about his mother dying and how he described it. I told my mother in law and we both got all weepy. I put it down and moved on. I open up a present and lo' and behold, he bought me the book. I was like, 'why...but i love it!'
My daughter had a santa workshop this year and bought presents for us. She gave me this cute metal necklace that says, 'I love you' and mike got a shrek flashlight lol. How cute is that?? She got both grandpas flashlights that say 'Grandpa' and both grandmothers coffee cups that say they're the best. We actually I got a crapload from our daughter lol. She also made us this cute clay picture frame from her kinder class and she wrote her name all nice and Catherine-neat on it. They took pictures of the kids and put them in the frames. We're impressed with her school lol.
I got Seaons 1 and 2 of Columbo and a pooh and mickey charm for my charm bracelet. We gave Catherine one for herself with a pumpkin (her nickname), polar bear and 2 charms from my bracelet.
All in all, it was a great day. The turkey came out good and I'm friggin FULL! =D Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and were with loved ones. Thinking happy thoughts for everyone.

As many of you know, I am now a full time student. This last semester was my last one at a local CC before I start Pre-Law in the spring. I am accumulating a large amount of books, and have nowhere to put them.(They are currently on a shelf in a closet) So I have been looking for a inexpensive bookcase, but unable to find anything that I can afford, since I no longer work.
I have been helping a Political Science professor of mine (my major) this semester set up an online class for the spring because she is computer illiterate. I did it because she is a great person, and I saw an opportunity to help her. I made clear to her I wanted nothing in return, just wanted to help. She had mentioned earlier in the semester to me that she was in charge of selling a neighbor of her's estate, as her health was failing. I saw this bookcase in there, and asked her to find out how much it was:

Solid cherry, and an antique, and they were asking $500 for it. Of course, no way can I afford that.
So I spent all weekend at my parents house, and got home Christmas evening and checked my email. I received the following email, from my professor:
I have decided that you will receive (but you will need to pick up the first of February) the bookcase that I e-mailed you the picture. That will make me feel better for all that you have done and all that is ahead!!! I would also like the bookcase to have a nice home and you will be acquiring many more books entering the political science field. I am sorry you will have to wait until February but I can't get it until the Estate Sale. Thank you so much for everything. Perri
Floored, absolutely floored. It may seem really dumb, but this gift means so much to me, I can't put it in words.
Would you cuddle with me you sweet hunk of man?
Since I leave for basic tomorrow, I got some nice socks, a blanket to keep at home, a very very nice Seiko Kenetic watch to were with my class a's, and a damn nice columbia waterproof sports watch that I can wear out in the field.
Good luck with that!
:yay

Julie, I have that same pen carousel thing and was contemplating the same desk! Is it comfy? Can you adjust for height as well as angle?
And I got a check with instructions to spend it on something that I need.
I think I 'need' an i pod but I dunno if that's what Grandma met :X.

its not bad, the height and tilt adjust easily since there's crossbars rather than each leg being independant so you dont have to muck with it being level. And its sturdy since I tend to almost lay/lean on my desk while I work :D the chair needs a bit of breaking in though. lol The only real pain was the screw holes werent pre-drilled so my husband had to break out the dremel at 10:30 at night. He was none too happy about that. :horsey

Doh, Julie! We had that problem with a chair from Ikea. The crossbar on the table sounds nice though. Good stuff for lazy folks like me.
