Future Mafia Games

I believe that just means you're a geek...and since we already knew that (Can't hide your gaming addiction from me, I know better) then I'd say not much has changed. We just now know you watch sci fi. ;)

I only have one request. If you do the Beta Dome scenario, one of the weapons used has to be the digi-neural inducer.

Short for Digital Neural Inducer. An electronic weapon that amplifies natural brain wave patterns until catasrophic failure ensues. We always figured EVERYONE should have access to a weapon that would make someone's brain explode... Heh.

What about a Feudal Japanese Mafia?

Ninjas, Samuris, Warlords all over the place.

Hmmmmm...

You might even be able to expand that into teams...

Ever try a team mafia? Not sure about the dynamic there, but it could probably be done. You can't tell me that a board with this many gamers couldn't do something like that...

Using the Japanese Idea:

Let's see...

Each team would have a Feudal Warlord as leader.
A few henchmen.
Samuri of course
And maybe a ninja traitor/assasin.

The idea would be to end up with the most people on your side at the end of play.

Not sure about SKIDs yet as the idea has just occurred to me. Need to get some of you gamers in here to help figure this out. Maybe a new thread? Provided there is enough interest in Mafia team play... And NO, I don't even know if it's possible, but creativity should be in large supply around here...

What about a Buffy themed one? vamps and hunters and demons and all kinds of fun crazy things... we could all burst into song =D

I think John Carpenter's 'The Thing' might make an interesting Mafia game.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie, The Thing is about a group of American personnel stationed in a research station in the South Pole who became the prey for a shape-shifting form-stealing alien that wants to escape the frozen iceshelf by any means necessary. The film is a psychological and visceral horror as the humans try to figure out who among them is infected by the Thing, and who isn't. John Carpenter rachets up the paranoia and tension as the research station personnel pit wits against each other and the horror of the alien Thing.

The ending is a true classic but I won't give it away here.

The Townies would be the research station staff, from scientists to mechanics, pilots and doctors.

The Mafia would be three people infected by the Thing looking to bump off the Townies and facilitate the Thing's escape from the frozen iceshelf.

The Serial Killer would be someone completely given in to their paranoia and deciding it's better to kill off everyone and be the sole survivor of this horror.

OMG! The Thing is one of my all time favorite movies...of course having Kurt Russell in it helps ;)

I know we've talked about The Thing in the past. I would LOVE to do something like that - that's along the same lines of 'Pod People'. A nice sci fi one would be super awesome.

Trying to explain this game to my dad since I am visiting them this weekend and trying to explain why I am spending part of my visit online and not visiting. lol. He said need to do a wagon train western kind of thing. Trying to get to Oregon but the big money people don't want you to or something. He explained it better. lol But he won't get online to try anything.. computers are an "evil waste of time" don'tcha know?

Bogey and Macall (sp?)/Maltese Falcon/Mickey Spilane (sp?) sort of a thing...

I knew she was trouble when she walked into my office. After all, any dame that looked like her could only lead to trouble. She was tall enough to be legal, and built in a way that spoke of long, hot dayss, and longer, hotter nights.

She was crying and wringing her hands like the world was coming to an end. From the look of the rock on her left hand, and the silk scarf she wore around her neck, she should have been able to buy a stop to it.

LOL! I thought of the Maltese Falcon, and you went with Gunsmoke...

giggles, you gotta know that the three stations my dad has the dish set for here is FOX news, sports (mainly OU), and westerns. The only one he doesn't yell at while he is watching it is the westerns. Though like your idea of old movie too.

Not gunsmoke - Oregon Trail - apple style. We'd have to stop and hunt buffalo occasionally too.


Buffy wouldn't translate very well as there isn't really a lot of intrigue in it, just big butt kicking. If we went Vampire I'd rather do a deeper themed one then Buffy (deeper then underworld too heh)

We keep talking about doing a mafia event on SA. That would be friggin hella good fun.

The character development there is very in depth...

I'm gonna have to do some work to play over there, I guess.

Uhm...anywho, thanks for the invite. I got registered last night, and wanted to spend some time this weekend, if circumstances allow, generating a vamp...

I was working on a story about a "normal" guy who got bitten by a "crazy" vampire and ended up having to kill him, thus engaging on one of the greatest sins of the toothed undead...

Killing your *gasp* sire!

(My favorite line from the story, "I don't want to be a Prints of Darkness. I'm scared of the dark." from the crazy, unnamed vampire...)

But, since I've done it, it doesn't appeal to me as much now. I want something different... Will ponnder it for a bit...
