As far as topics go, I think it would be fun if each of us chose topics round robin. If there's just a little pack of us trying it out, that shouldn't be a problem :)

Just to completely rip off ConceptArt, we can have thread titles that clearly delineate sequence, theme, and subject. Since it's Speed Paint/Render we can use SPR.

SPR01: Environment: Forest Sanctuary
SPR208: Character: Drunken Pirate
SPR51: Creature: Happy Platypus
SPR67: Sci-Fi: Alien Merchant
ect.....

After that, the topic maker can give a few sentences to flesh out the concept just a little bit.

With it structured clearly in the subject space, people can keep track of what was done when and also possibly jump into some subject that they may have missed and post something on it.

If even two or three people can post per subject, then I'd consider it a great success. With a set, short time limit, there's no pressure of judgment or expectation, only the opportunity to stretch our thoughts a little.

How long were you thinking for the time limit, about 15-30 minutes? I've seen speed painting threads where a picture is posted to sort of copy, and I think I like the idea of using themes better. Happy platypus /giggle.

I'd say 15-30 minutes is a good limit. We can always change it later if we'd like. I'm going to post a topic, then we can go in order of those posting their interest. I was thinking every two days:

May 14 --> Wystro
May 16 --> Lunna
May 18 --> Shay
May 20 --> Shiyla
May 22 --. Verileah
May 24 --> Lessa
May 26 --> ROzbeans
May 28 --> Merreck

Even if you don't have time to draw for your own topic, that's okay. It'll be fun to be surprised by what is thrown our way. If for some reason you know you can't post a topic on the day, just send me a PM and I'll set it up.

Participating in any or all is totally up to each person, and there is no pressure, only the opportunity to have some fun.

I suggest running through this one round then reassessing how we like it. I'll start the ball rolling by putting up Monday's topic now.

Sounds great! Of course, Ill be doing it on paper with pencil. Ive uninstalled my tablet so Im not tempted to do digital for a bit.

The first ones up, I see, Ill do it tomorrow!

This is tomorrow's post that I put up...There's essentially two days to do it with the next topic coming up Wednesday -- plenty of time. I'm doing my fast drawing tomorrow.

I am glad you decided to start the speed painting topics. I am looking forward to it. I can't promise anything spectacular, but it will be fun to try.

I didn't want to derail but OMG SQUEE those platys are SO cute. I'm going to try it when I get home, fuck it - it'll look ridiculous but that's too cute!

This is a great topic, and should probably get its own section *wink, wink*. I used to visit an art board called.......um....www.sijun.com I think. They have all kinds of awsome digital painters there and always had speed painting threads. I'm very impressed with what I saw on the first round here. I need to set my pen up tonight and give it a whirl before the next one starts....so I can get used to my pen again (I'm a horrible drawer/painter) This should be great fun. :)
