AFKish - Moving

Welp, tomorrow's the day the movers come and pack our stuff, the 3rd they haul it all away so after that our internet connection will be sporadic. David, Shadow and I fly down to Washington on the 9th, Catherine and Mike are driving to Haines to catch the 3 day ferry. My cell phone number is floating around with some of ya'll and if there's something up with the boards, please talk to Vex. =) My AIM will be set to mobile and I'll have internet at my parents.

Alaska has been...uh...a fun 4 years We showed up with a 5 year old, leaving with an 8 1/2 year old, a son and a dog. We actually came up from the same base we're going to, but hopefully it'll be as good to Mike as this tour was.

Nobody break nothing! =D

The movers are here - my house is a mess and my poor dog is whining in the downstairs bathroom lol. David is sleeping through all the talking and loud noises. Thank god he's an easy baby.

I'll be near Eve??? /dances

We're really focusing right now on the Charlottesville area, and if you can give me any hints/tips on what's NOT a good area to live in, that would be great!

Poor Roz *pats* I hates the moving, but I do love settling into a new place. Charlottesville is a pretty area for sure Darsa! I'm further north than that, just a couple hours south of DC actually. But I do remember back in the day, like early 90's, when I went down that way to open a Staples store when I worked for them. It's beautiful mountain country.

I just recently visited Charlottesville. <3 indie theaters and little art galleries . My friend lives on a horse farm out there. It's really lovely. I could ask about good areas but I don't know if she would know.

Thank god for broadband internet - we're jacking the billeting cable =D Wireless doesn't work though so Mike will be hogging the connection for WOW tonight. I'm friggin sore, tired but we're completely out of our house and it's being cleaned BY SOMEONE ELSE as I type this lol.

Clearly I missed the memo that you were even moving. It seems as though you just got there. Did time really fly that quickly? Well good luck and congrats to normal summer day's and nights, and not having to spraypaint your windows to go to bed anymore.

WOOT, I'm here!!! Cripes lower 48 internet is the SHIT! lol

Ok, let me start off with what happened while David and I were waiting to board our plane in Anchorage. The flight was full of business men heading to Seattle or San Fran. I was feeding David when I look over and see a rather pudgy business man in a pink tie reading a book. I start to look away when I notice him reach up and do something.

!

I double take and look again.

The man is PICKING HIS NOSE.

Oh but that's not it. He's picking his nose and PULLING HIS NOSE HAIR.

But that's not it...

He's picking his nose, pulling his nose hair and EATING IT. YES EATING HIS BOOGERS AND NOSE HAIRS. IN PUBLIC! The woman next to him got up and moved closer to me and it took everything to not throw up or call everyone I know and scream it to the world. It was SO DISGUSTING. I told my mother in the car and she about fell out of her seat grossing out. Blech!

Poor Shadow, our misfit not-good-to-travel puppy (she's 8.5 years) did ok but was crying the entire time. The drugs didn't quite do it for her, it relaxed her a bit but not as much as I'd like. She's been displaced for over a week now and she's with Mike's parents (my mother is allergic).

Our flight was ok - I had been stressing out about it for months now =x David has a ton of luggage but I was surprised at how much people wanted to help me. The same woman who moved away from booger eating dude helped me with some of it and the flight attendants carried his carseat for me, so I was happy. David did great on the plane and didn't cry at all (thank god). He slept most of the way.

Our rental car was KICK ASS. We needed a minivan for Shadow's kennel (friggin huge) and they gave me an 07 chrysler something and wow it was nice. It had that 'never lost' thing from hertz and my mother spent half the 2 hr car drive yelling at it because we didn't go the way it wanted us to lol.

We're here now at my parents and he's sleeping behind me. He slept through the night again last night and he's happy as a little piggy in mud. Still doesn't feel like I don't live in Alaska anymore - nice to be home though. =)
