Let me get this straight...........

Someone has came here to TAC and stole some peoples art and are using them as their own work?

Not here, more than likely deviantart.com. But yeah, they took our original art and chopped it up into pieces of shit. Some are getting new sigs to replace those.

Well what it looks like is one individual said 'I can make sigs, who wants a sig?' and a bunch of people said 'me, me' and she said 'okay!' and skipped on over to DA and ganked a bunch of other people's art and chopped it and smashed it and chewed it and then came back and said 'okay, here are your lovely sigs!'

So, there's a degree of separation, maybe. Although another possibility is that people came to her and said 'omg, make me a sig using this picture I, uh, found...'. Anyway, either way it isn't okay.

Hiding behind 'I didn't know about copyright' seems like less and less of an excuse, especially in the MMO world. Maybe it's because art and MMO boards have always gone hand in hand with me, but copyright is everywhere. But then so are really shitty rip offs.

Thats pretty fucked up.

I guess you could look to the bright side and whoever stole the art thought it was good stuff =P

Im not sure how i'd feel if someone ganked my art if I did something like this.

I think i'd have a mix of emotions. Pissed but somewhat honored someone thought it was good enough to gank in the first place =x

I feel kind of like an ass for giving that girl a sig now, her original excuse was she got the image from somewhere else and it had no name / site on it.

But then Cory oh so kindly pointed out, it wasn't just one image bigger and transparent it was a second image of mine also in it.

So she lied and got free art from me for it. Wow, I am lame.

Jet just happened to be in this guild and noticed one of Vex's works.. can you imagine how many others are out there? *cringe*

Almost enough to make you not want to post artwork.. but if you dont, then whats the point of making it? *sigh*

I don't think I like how that guy says the artist would have to produce some sort of copyright paperwork. I don't think they really understand how copyright works. It's not some trademark we have to register every time we create a picture. If I show them the original work that I did, on my own damn gallery with more likely than not multiple versions if it was a sig/magelo combo at least, that should be proof enough.
