Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

You should tell him that his use of the word semantics is driving me crazy.

EDIT: Just kidding in case that wasn't obvious (but it really is driving me crazy)

He bought her a $50 Azalea bonsai which she will likely kill. I think he just got whatever to shut her up because he forgot last years or the year before that and she hasn't stopped whining about it yet. Whatever. I told him he should get her some lame gift like what she got him for Christmas (a pot holder and a wind chime, for real) but he wasn't amused about that either. He's under the impression that Mothers Day is about giving stuff to your own mother and so I'm getting nothing :P But that's ok, I have his credit card to get me something hehe.

My parents arrive today (Flagstaff, AZ) - they've never been to the west before I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately it's finals week, and I haven't gotten everything done yet - I have one take home final that is absolutely brutal - I think I'm going to end up with 30-40 hours total time in it if I manage to solve it all.

OOh mother in law rant time! LOL That sounds like my husbands mother. She will whine and complain and try to make you feel guilty for shit for years. Till this day she still brings up the summer of 1999. We lived in San Diego, CA at the time. Hubby was deployed for 7 months in Japan. I was pregnant with our son. Before hubby went to Japan we visited Texas and my daughter stayed with her for a couple months during the summer. Well being pregnant and totally alone/depressed, I wanted to go visit my mother in Pensacola, FL. Well his mom threw a major whine fest about that. She wanted to drive 2 days out to San Diego to drop off my daughter and we go to Disneyland instead of driving 10hrs to FL to drop her off with me and my mom. WTF? I was 6 month preg...why in the hell would I want to walk around Disney in hot summer weather, get (worse) swollen legs and ankles... I couldn't get on any rides, and she doesn't ride any rides.. so wtf were we gonna do cause you know a 4 yr old is gonna atleast wanna ride something cheesy like teacups or whatever.

Well since she refused to drive to FL.. intead of me going straight to FL in a plane .. I had to ride amtrak train from San Diego to LA to Houston. Get off in Houston, meet her and get my daughter, and me and my daughter ride a creepy greyhound bus to Pensacola. Bitch. Yeah.. ok so maybe I hold a little grudge about it too after all these years .. but she still whines about how she had to drive 2 fucking hours to Houston because that was so much more of a hassle driving straight down I-45 for 2hrs than driving 2 days to San Diego.

I'm glad I don't have a mother in law. I am also very glad that my mother is the kind of person that gets along with everyone, particularly men (I don't mean that in a bad way, she just doesn't get along with woman so well lol) so my future hubby should be fine :)

I feel like a fucker =/ I just NOW realized that one of the girls on facebook that I went to school with was a friend of mine in school - but when she sent me a message and I saw her picture, I totally did not recognize her. I recognized the name, but just not the face. Turns out she was way chubby in school and completely slimmed down now. I busted out my high school year book this afternoon and finally looked. I sent her a message apologizing, thinking I just MET the girl on facebook really (I thought she knew Mike, not me) and she replied, 'yeah, but I didn't want to say anything. You and I used to bs all the time and we played powder puff together'.

Seriously, I feel like utter crap. I mean really, really low.

I did the same thing sort of. Couldn't remember this chick for nothing but I played along like I remembered lol. I was in the shower the other night and I realized who she was and she was sort of a cunty bitch to me, oh well. There's this other chick and I asked other people who the fuck she is and no one has a clue. She keeps talking about being sober and I just don't give a fuck about it I wish she'd shut up about it. I've barely restrained myself on a dozen occasions. Half the people I knew growing up are now clean and they don't talk about what a wonderful sober day it is.

Just a small reminder... do not put power steering fluid in your brake lines. Three months later your car will just stop and pour smoke from the wheels and you will shout "Oh FUCK!" in front of your customer when he opens the door to your horrified face looking at your smoking car.

I got an $8 tip from the guy though *smirk*

my son is singing about how no body wants to play with him...seriously has a long ass song about how he's so sad. I hate playing mario so i refuse to play. Im terrible at it and i just dont like it. I'll play with real toys not the dumb video game but thats nto what he wants to do. I shoudl make a song about how I havta play batman by myself.

2 kids ftw hehe :)

Do you have any friends or family with kids the same age? maybe you can set up a playdate schedule every week so he has something to look foreward to?
Nianya 16 years ago
I don't blame ya. I don't like playing console games either (yet I could spend hours playing EQ.. go figure). I guess in someway I'm lucky I hae 2 kids so they kinda entertain themselves. Of course thats when they aren't beating the snot out of each other. Austin is 10, and Shelby is 15.... they play together still, but usually ends up with someone yelling 'mooooom.........so and so did/said/won't blah blah blah' followed by a loud THWACK... OOOWWWW.

When my son says he's bored - how he can be bored beats me, he has a wii, xbox 360, PS2, gamecube, amongst shit loads of toys and games, as well as kids on the block to play with... anyway when he tells me he's bored I usually say 'Im sorry you're bored, but I can find something for you to do like clean your room to get you unbored' ... and then he goes NVM! and runs off. LOL

I hate the summers for 'I'm bored!'. It's the god damn summer, they don't have a job, it's nice outside, what are they complaining about??! I always tell her to get on her bike and ride around the neighborhood. I hate when she sits in front of our tv playing Halo3 or whatever all damn day. Now we'll take her brother to the park, go for walks, hopefully hang out with the neighbors with kids more now that we're moving.

Remember the days when we were kids? We'd leave the house early in the morning and not return until dusk. Maybe stopping by home a few times during the day to grab some food, but right back out the door. Granted those days there were less things to worry about as parents. These days you can't let your kid be gone all day like that without freaking out. But we were never bored as kids and didn't have all the video games and fancy mp3 players/phones. We had ways of making anything fun. GIve us some dirt, water and sticks and we'd be happy for hours. LOL

Oh yeah... curious if any ladies here have ever used either of these products.... Bare Minerals makeup or Proactive? I had a couple commissions and so now I have some play money and I wanna buy something girly and I can't make up my mind which product I wanna try. I rarely wear makeup but it would be nice to have something to help hide dark circles and my freckles (yeah I hate my freckles lol) and I keep seeing those damn commercials for this makeup and how well it suppose to cover imperfections. But then again I don't have any bad case of acne either but I could still benefit from a decent face cleaner. Ugh..decisions, decisions!! :(
ROzbeans 16 years ago
I use bare minerals, so does Vex - I rarely used makeup coming up, even as a teenager. Thank god for being brown, I'm not kidding; a little lipstick and I was always good. Now that I'm in my mid 30's, and don't drink water as much as I should, I've started wearing makeup every day. I use the medium tan/tan bare minerals and I love it. It comes with the foundation, a mineral veil, and some 'warmth' which is a bronzer - I use just the first two. The warmth is too orangy for me, to be honest, but again I'm brown so I don't really need it. It's lightweight and doesn't cause any breakouts. I dig it.

Isn't proactive always on sale for 20 bucks? You could do both. Bare Minerals is usually running some promotion for 40 bucks for the starter kit. Just check out their website for a coupon or hit their store in the mall and ask about the discount.
Nianya 16 years ago
Right now, Bare Minerals is on sale for $30 on their website but in order to get it at that price, you get signed up for some club and charged for that. There's an Ulta beauty store here in town though that sells BM stuff. I'm actually gonna go over there today after I picked up daughter from school and see if they have any samples. Damnit if Im gonna fork over this kinda money for makeup I wanna try it first. LOL Because if it doesn't work as good as they make it seem, I'll just stick to my Walmart bought mineral makeup.

As for Proactive, yeah you can usually find it on sale, but in order to get that sale price you still have to sign up for the club and they bill you like monthly and send you more product every few months (at regular price too I think). There is a Proactive seller in the mall though where you can buy it and not have to sign up for the club crap (unless you want to), but you have to pay full price for it which is from $50-70 depending which 'package' you buy.

I've seen those proactive vending machines at the higher malls and airports. I need to take a picture next to one the next time. I tried out the makeup first before buying it - I let chick do my makeup and I liked it pretty well.
Nianya 16 years ago
Roz.. if you ever wanna take some before and after pics of you in the makeup, feel free! LOL

So much for my afternoon shopping today. Hubby informed me the brakes on our only car are pretty much shot and the car barely stops even with the brake pedal all the way to the floor. Well fuck.:( I'm not driving a car that could lose whats left of the brakes at any second. I value my life thanks. LOL
Jetamio 16 years ago
My brakes are so awesome right now that the car doesn't move! Left it on a hill in neutral and it was still where I left it when I went to get it towed today. So now I am carless :(
