Say Anything.
'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.
Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort
This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.
So, say anything.
Math is evil. Why anyone would want to study it further is beyond me. I can count money, that's all I need it for.
But you need linear algebra, number theory, and calculus for that rendered figure in your sig! Toss in some more calculus for Fourier transforms and the Nyquist equations and you can compress it, turn it into a signal, and send it reliably over the internets.
It makes me really sad that math is so hated - it's ridiculously important for our everyday lives. I honestly believe that the gross majority of the folks that say they hate or can't understand math have really just convinced themselves of it. If you can understand that an equals sign means that things are exactly equivalent, then you're off to a very good start on the rest of mathematics.
Math sucks almost imperceptibly more than Gongaa.
What the chopsticks! I had no idea you loved math that much! :heart
i hated math in school cause i couldn't show my work in school so i got lower grades for it.
It was definitely annoying at the time, but it's important to be able to explicitly express what you're doing so that you can move on to stuff that can't be solved with intuition alone.

I learned that lesson the hard way. I used to refuse to show work, and now that things are more difficult I'm having to consciously make sure I don't skip steps
i now find this odd since I like organization and I would like to think that math is the most organized thing there is.
i'm just afraid to try it anymore and get by with what I have. it's sad I know. i admit it.
I am not planning on building any bridges any time soon, so I'll be content with my high school level algebra knowledge, lol.
You'd be amazed at how far you can get building a bridge with just high school math.
math hates my brain. Math makes me cry, i cant figure out the problem panic sets in tears well up and bam.

Did you have a really mean math teacher or anything? That sounds rough. :(
We should all hang out and do some math. <3
Do math and candy corn. An orgy waiting to happen. You know it.
Bring your magical boobs!
