Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

Jesus christ, that thread is 3 pages long.

3? For me it was like 13... guess I have my posts-per-page set differently than you. I just read the whole thing, though... pretty awesome post lol.

The duck face reminds us of those dumb sorority girls that go to all the parties, wander around downtown (in college) towns giggling and talking about fashion, and in general being air-headed.

These are what I referred to in my earlier post in this thread as party girl/bar-hopper.

I'm thinking Facebook MUST have some sort of thing where it filters out people based on God-knows-what. I hardly ever see any "frumpy mom who cleans up nice" but I see a fucking SHITTON of hipster and emo girls. UGH.

I can say "airheaded bimbo" and I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. I don't quite see why that is presenting a problem for you. Is it because you're automatically taking offense at the terms? They are just words. The meaning I intend to convey with them is irrelevant, in practice; the meaning you derive from them is all that matters. Try and reverse that, and see the meaning I am trying to convey. Yes, I mostly intend for them to assume their offensive meanings (not to you!), because that is how I automatically percieve those women to be. But they are just pictures. Do they intend to present themselves as airheaded bimbos? Probably not, though I'm sure some do. And so I have to look beyond my own assumptions to see the meaning they are trying to convey, if there is one.

I thought I did a neat thing there. The paragraph doesn't actually say much of anything, and could probably have been written with 2/3 less words, but it was a fun idea. Either it didn't work, or I am just way too easily amused by my own antics.

I am still impressed by my own work here, lol. I had to read it twice to remember what it was that I did. Conclusion: way too easily amused by my own antics.

Lol, my facebook profile pictures is the one I chose out of like 30 I took that day. I can't have someone else take a pic of me, cos I'm really self conscious and I burst out laughing. So I waited til no one was home, put on some mascara (no other make up!) and then posed for myself LOL. I would have to agree, that 'looking up' poses work best for me, but I did not include my 'assests's in the frame hehe

And this is what I managed to get lol...

You look like an exact replica of one of my aunts on my father's side when she was your age. She's the only person on my father's side of the family that I like. My favorite aunt! She's also the only one on that side who knows how to use a computer. We probably have a common ancestor somewhere way back there (that side is Scottish and English and I dunno what else; Welsh I think).

Thank you! Only when looking up like that though hehe, you'd see what I mean if you saw the rest of my facebook pics >.< I do love my eyes though, they always change colour and are definately my best feature :)

Quite possible! My great-grandfather settled in Detroit in the 1920's along with his eldest son and daughter. The daughter moved to Nova Scotia (I'm still trying to track down her children/grandchildren, but she married a Smith *sigh*), but the son stayed as far as we know. Both were called Frederick Windle, and the daughter was known as Elsie. The other children, along with my grandfather, were left in Scotland with my great grandmother, and were intended to be sent to the States when they were old enough to travel alone, but there was some scandal and the others never went. The children left in Scotland were Henry (my grandfather), Florence (Flo), Mack and Bill and another Fred I think. My grandfather died when I was 5, and Flo died a couple years ago, but I never met the other three. Only one of them is still alive as far as I know.

We are actually trying to find the ones that stayed in the US so that we can complete the family tree, so if any of this rings a bell, let me know! lol.

A great conspiracy about keeping women down? More like keeping them where they belong.

Supreme Court rules for Wal-Mart in massive job discrimination lawsuit
www.cnn.comThe Supreme Court put the brakes on a massive job discrimination lawsuit against mega-retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc., saying the plaintiffs had not shown justification for sweeping class-action status that could have potentially involved hundreds of thousands of current and former female workers.

So wrong. Too bad she didn't go out with an unintentionally ironic parting shot.

I got a message asking if I was still going to the reunion. Clearly not lol. I know people are probably thinking, 'Oh poor Roz, Mike's a big jerk!'. If anyone takes anything he says seriously, they're eating too much stupid for me to deal with them anyway.
ROzbeans 14 years ago
Oh this is even better:Mike Hartmann I have to say, in my daily ruminations, that I'm glad that I have a son. Now I can do all those things that I was missing because I only had a daughter, like little league, sports in general, fishing, video games. I know that it isn't her fault, but I couldn't expose her to those things when she had all that cooking, sewing, and housework to learn.

Two people have already LIKED this status. SERIOUSLY?? The fucked up thing? A friend of ours, someone who Mike considered like a brother at one point in our lives, said the SAME FUCKING THING TO US when we told him we were having a boy. That was the last time Mike spoke to him. This same guy is a weirdo Idaho-living, Duggar baby having wife, conservative something something, overly religious jack ass who told us we weren't raising Catherine right because we took her to Disneyland.

Why do people change? And why aren't they awesome like my husband?

I'm lolling in the RL. That is some high quality trolling!
pharren 14 years ago
Me too. And I fully agree, Roz. If they are dumb enough to believe it - well, all of it, at least... one post like that might be legit, but every post like that? wake up - you probably wouldn't enjoy their company very much anyways.
Lessa 14 years ago
well, on the one hand.. I can kinda see their point.. because they might be thinking the same thing bout Mike as Roz thinks about the old friend of his.. that maybe he changed for the worse..

If that's the case though, they obviously don't know you all that well and it prolly doesn't matter that they're gone.
ROzbeans 14 years ago
Well, that is sort of the point. 160+ people accepted his friend invite, as we gear up for the reunion in August, because all of the sudden I started getting spammed with friend invites from people I barely knew in high school. I hate that shit. So Mike decided to make that second account and just spam invite everyone from our reunion page...and they accepted.

The sad thing is, there's a bitch we went to school with who says this shit SERIOUSLY. Mike's got an extremely dry sense of humor and does shit just to get a rise out of people. If they were vain enough to pump up their friends list by accepting invites from people they really didn't know (Mike says he remembers maybe 1/10th of the people on his list) then he was gonna have some fun.

Bottom line - if they actually knew him, they would know he was just fucking around.
Lessa 14 years ago
WEll yeah, I have about a dozen random invites sitting and waiting for me to accept them cause these people invite me to their page without leaving any sort of message. Most fb people on my friends list are from DA or some other art place, but I wish they would at least say " Hi, I am soandso from Deviantart"
