Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

See, I would be terribly uncomfortable doing that. They could ask you anything while you're in that state, and who knows what you'd answer with!

Q: Can I stick this spork up your anus?
A: Yes

These pills, whatever they are, don't really knock you out unconcious. You're full awake, can walk, talk, etc... but you don't have memory of anything or feel anything.

See now, I was told that intrevenous stuff would do that and they liiiiiiieeed!!

I needed 5 teeth pulled (not even my wisdom teeth, they aren't through yet) and one had an abcess in it. They gave me the sedative stuff in an IV, but it didn't really feel any different. I don't think they believed just how afraid of hospitals I am, and didn't account for the surge of adreneline hehe. My mind was going omg run away, but my body was like meh, fuck that. Then they gave me 7 injections, and I barely felt the first 2 being pulled and began to relax a tiny bit and think well this aint *so* bad. Then she touched the abcessed tooth, I yelped like I'd been burned (step mom heard me from the waiting room lol), the dentist and the aneasthatist jumped like a foot in the air and asked me, did you feel that?! Yes it fucking hurt!! Had it been someone else in my place, I'd probably have pissed myself laughing at the scene.

So before I can make a run for it, they turn up the sedative, stick me with another couple injections and pull out the tooth quick. By the time they took the last one I was trying desperately not to fall asleep lol, think they double dosed me or something.

They tried to make me stay til my heart rate was down (120 even with all that sedative lol), and I had to argue that they'd be best to just let me go cos there aint no way I'll be relaxed in a hospital!

Trouble is I have my mothers teeth, nothing I can do about it, and here they want to charge me $300 to pull the tooth with an abcess in it, $600 if I want the sedation! So I took the antibiotics, killed the infection and now if I feel a twinge I just take an anti infammatory before it flares up. I'd be cheaper to fly back to the UK and get it done lol.

ACK...dentists! I HATE going to the dentist. When I was a kid, my mother took us into Brooklyn, NY to go to her old dentist ... and I ain't kidding when I say OLD! He was very old fashioned and seemed to think that pain was good for kids! Well actually he thought that gas and novacaine were bad for kids. Trips to the dentist were an absolute nightmare!

To this day, I cringe when I think about needing to go to the dentist. I have had a toothache for months and take tylenlol and chew on the other side. GAH...I need to go to the dentist...just don't want to.

This dentist subject is kinda funny. There are so many, myself included, that do not want to go to the dentist but we have pain or need some form of dental work done!

I just don't have the money or the insurance to go. I"m sure they would give us a payment plan of some sort, but I hate doing that. I'm always afraid something will come up and then I won't be able to do it. blah blah. Any reason to NOT go to the dentist! :P

My son had his 3yr check up at the doctors office and they asked if we took him to the dentist yet. His insurance covers it, I just am a horrible mom, I don't want to put him through all the poking and prodding that I'm sure he won't like one bit. Do they put them under just to clean and give them a check up? He flips out when the doctor uses the stethoscope!

They don't suggest taking your kiddo to the dentist until he's about 3 or 4 anyway, just as long as you're helping him floss now and brushing every day. Little kids can't handle the dentist, hell David can't even sit still for a haircut. When I thought David had a cavity (turned out to be broccoli) they said he'd have to go to a specialist instead of a normal doctor at his age anyway.

All the dental horror stories!! How about something nice, like a hot stone massage? Had one of those Saturday. OMG, it was the best thing ever! I'm going to try to budget for one at least every six months. Expensive but so worth it. I had rubber legs when I walked out I was so relaxed! :)

I used to get massages once a month, but its been several months now since I've had one. I love stone massages as well, but because of the extra costs I haven't had as many of those. I need to schedule one soon!

This. I wasn't sure if things had changed since I first took my daughter to the dentist 28 years ago. All she went in for was x-rays, but she was too fidgety, and they decided visually her teeth looked fine.

I took her back when she was 4, to a pediatric dentist, and she's never had a bad experience up until she had one of her wisdom teeth extracted. Even then it wasn't that bad. Her whole issue is she needs EVERYTHING explained...what's going to happen, step by step, what tools they're going to use, what its going to feel like, how long is the healing process...all good questions, but its kinda funny to sit outside and listen to her list them all, one by one.

They do those stone massages here at the Gene Juarez salon, but it's some serious monies.

My teeth are so bad :( They were fine until I started having kids. Didn't have a filling til I was 23! Now they're garbage. I read somewhere for every one child a woman has she loses on average two teeth. Last year at Valentine's I took a jolly rancher out of one of the girls candy bags and lost half a tooth. We're hoping to get it pulled with tax money but we screwed up seriously with the Christmas presents and are now back to where we were several months ago and owe about 2k on our credit cards. I had a really awesome dentist as a kid I wonder if he still works. I'd almost drive back to WA just to have him again he was always very nice.

Yeah, babies suck the LIFE OUTTA YA! Seriously, being pregnant does take a lot of out of you. It can, and will, mess your teeth up. I'm talking from about 5K+ worth of dental work in the past 5 years here =/

Well I'll be fucked when and if I ever get pregnant.

We just slapped braces on the kid a few months ago. She's been great about it, not a word of complaint, and we already see a tremendous improvement. I feel bad for her though, she's going to have to have either braces or retainers until she's at least 18 (she's 12 now). Minimum 2 years in braces, probably longer because they have to do the top and then the bottom (elsewise she'd knock off her bottom brackets with her top teeth, the bite's so fucked up).

Sure hurts the bank account though. Our insurance covers some, which is nice, but it's mostly on us.

Well this little pill they gave me worked really good. Like someone said, after kids.. your teeth go to hell. Mine did. Then to top it off with crooked teeth anyway which caused a lot of problems (parents never could afford braces), then not liking dentists.. I said fuck it all and said remove my teeth. LOL I have upper dentures for top teeth. My own teeth on the bottom still. The dentist tried to talk me out of it.. but I'm sorry I was not going to pay $10k to straighten my teeth, crowns, fillings, etc. (no joke there.. that fricking much) and instead only had to pay $1200 for extractions and dentures. Now I have straight white teeth that I never have to worry about and I smile! I never smiled before. That whole self concious people staring at crooked teeth. I'm still debating if I want to go ahead and do the bottoms now or not.

I'll skip the whole ''no denture adventure' jokes I could say. LOL

And as for saying/doing stuff while not full 'there'.. my husband was with me the entire time. No worries about the Dentist or staff... I only had to worry about my husband doing things. LOL

I need a lot of work done and have never had the money - Soon as I hit grad school I'm busting out the loans to fix my teeth

One of Erik's co-workers wives had all her teeth start rotting out after she had a baby so she had all her teeth pulled and has full dentures now...at like 24. So when I started complaining about my teeth Erik says hey you wanna get dentures like Joanna??? Oh hoho buddy no gummy beejers for you sir. My teeth might be crooked but they're mine and I wanna keep em! I just hope the one I want pulled won't cost too much.

My tooth extraction was so cheap compared to the alternative.

'So what now?'
'You need a root canal and a cap.'
'For 1 tooth?'
'Yeah.'
'In the back?'
'Yeah.'
'So far back that no one can see it and I can't even floss it?'
'...well yeah.'
'Well how much is that?'
'Oh I can't do it, you need to go to a specialist because it's so far back there. Probably around 1500.'
Pause...
'How much will it cost me to have you pull it?'
'But you can save...'
'Uh uh, not what I asked.'
'About 80?'
'Sold. Let's do it.'

You can't even see I'm missing a tooth, although I feel ghetto about it lol. It was a hollow tooth anyway.

Yea I've done that - its so much cheaper. The only problem is later on if you need a bridge there is less to anchor too, but implants are getting much better so now there is even a solution for that (if it ever even becomes an issue lol)

Vulash one of the things I noticed about you when we met was that you had a very nice smile :).
Jetamio 16 years ago
Back in the UK they talked about giving me a bridge thing for the 3 teeth I'm missing on my lower right jaw. He also told me the price and I said fuck that.
