Say Anything.
'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.
Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort
This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.
So, say anything.
I tell people I'm from somewhere else when they ask
You dont like living in FL?
Hell, im from Texas and people hate Texas and make fun of the state (its state envy imo because Texas is the best state out there) im proud to be a Texan =)
I like Texas a lot better than Arizona, i'll say that for sure!
You dont like living in FL?
It's only when other people from FL ask. Otherwise, I just say "South Florida". Most people who aren't from FL wouldn't recognize the name anyways. If they're from FL, I'm either vague (county name), or misleading ("5 minutes from (the city 5 minutes south of me)"). There's a huge stigma against where I am from, and people automatically assume... stuff. Like if you lived in Beverly Hills, people would assume you are rich. It's pretty much the same thing here.
In my defense, I don't actually live in the city anyways. I live in unincorporated county land, so we just use it as a mailing address, and you can't really tell somebody "unincorporated county" when they ask where you live, unless you like dumbfounded looks.
I was actually born in Detroit, so a lot of the time, I'll try and evade the question like "I was born in Detroit" or "I'm from Michigain". It rarely works :(
The best part is when people make fun of it and then ask me what part of Virginia I'm from - stupid fuckers. Or they'll proceed to say they know so and so from somewhere in Virginia, and I'll just say "that is awesome - I know someone from insertstatethatisn'ttheirs"
That's just a southern thing. I remember the now ex coming to visit me in MS back in the day, wanting to know who that was every time we passed someone on the road. Me: Was like I dunno. Him: Then why they wave? Me: Southern hospitality? *shrug* LoL
Thats the norm down here. Us southerners arent stuck ups =p
Texas is a very very active / social state. Everyone is your brother / sister here etc...depending where you live.
Its so different from Phoenix.. where you kinda try to avoid eye contact and keep your mouth shut in public the majority of the time lest you be considered rude.

I know it was like that in Buffalo TX. I swear everywhere we went, people smiled, waved, said Hi. Of course my husband grew up there, as did his parents, and grandparents so everyone in the small town knew him, and his whole damn family.
Here in Bryan/College Station where we live now... it's still friendly, but more so in my neighborhood than places like the mall or somewhere. Its a little creepy if you ask me! I can be driving down the road and everyone taking their walks will wave and smile.
OMFG We got 4-6 inches of snow last night. I am so sick of winter.
I left my EQ guild...I feel so lonely now! God real life sucks when it messes up my game time!
OMG -You tried recruiting me into Triality =p And you wouldnt even of been there lol =P
