Say Anything.
'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.
Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort
This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.
So, say anything.
Oh btw Walmart is way too overcrowded in my area. 10 to choose from and no less than 20 people in every line *sigh*
And besides, it's called "dating" not "jump into a permanent relationship with the next semi-decent candidate that comes along."
Ya know - I had a real hard time getting my sis's ex to grasp this one. He called me a slut because I only dated guys for a few months - and within 6 months you should have a fairly decent idea whether there's enough to move forward with.
Personally i think he was just pissed that i wouldn't sleep with him... *shudder*
The new Semester over at the University started yesterday. So here's my game plan for the semester - no work on Monday so I can take 3 3 hour classes. (What was I thinking????)
So I go up early to get my ID, parking permit and books. first class isn't til 1, so got plenty of time in case something goes to hell. which always happens the first week.
No problem getting the card. No problem getting the permit. Books - piece of cake. Getting back out to my car to hang said permit and arrange my books in my nifty new rolling book bag - halfway there and the skies open up. Do I have my umbrella? Hell no - it was bright and blue when i went into the building. So by the time I get to my car, I pretty much resemble a drowned rat. (thank god they'd already taken the damn pic!!)
Things finally settle down, my bags rearranged, so I go to find some lunch. and sit through my first class freezing my ass off because I'm damp and the AC is set at about 70 degrees. He only lectures for an hour (thank god) so I go back outside to warm up (which takes all of 2 seconds, thanks to the loverly weather we're having here in Houston).
All of a sudden I get that gushing oh fuck feeling - my period starts. And I have NOTHING with me since I took it all out of my purse while I was at the bike rally on Sunday (had everything in my pockets so I wouldn't have to carry a purse). And the damn machine takes dimes and gives out what I swear are mattresses. WTF is this??
Figure out where my second class is and shell out the money for a sweatshirt so I don't freeze in the second class. This guy lectures for 2 hours - fast. My hand was cramping from all the notes. Thank god he promises to have the presentation up on the net so I can print it out to cut down on the note taking.
So I go figure out where my last class is and hunt down some food. they actually have a real Quizno's - and the prices weren't jacked. Sweet! (gotta love the Turkey Bacon Guac...) So I go to my last class. And the door is locked. I look at the schedule again, look at the door plate. WTF??? takes me five minutes to realize I'm looking at the course number, not the room number. and I'm on the wrong floor. so i hightail it downstairs and slide into one of the remaining seats with seconds to spare... only to find out that the bookstore screwed up and gave me the wrong textbook (i ordered them in advance so didn;t pull them myself damminall). and of course the bookstore is closed so i have to wait til my thursday class to trade it for the right book - which means i can't study until this weekend for this class. Oy.
It can only get better, right???
(already said, but it bears repeating!)
Good luck at school Fyre! Good luck at the interview Sarah!
I am doing better on my recovery from heat exhaustion / dehydration. Last weekend was much cooler, highs were like 68. But I have bought a pretty sun parasol and am now frequenting my friend who works in one of the pubs. It may be slightly out of the way but I will go to her frequently cus I know she will hook me up with water.
Honestly I think it was just my own stubborn stupidity the other weekend. I was angry that the close pubs dont give me water and I am nervous about invading the staff area because I am a volunteer. Hopefully as the season goes on this will become less and less of an issue. *crosses fingers* There is shade and friends with booths for seating but I just have to utilize it.
Good luck with the interview Sarah!
I have a commission due but havent been wanting to make art for weeks now, bleh :(
Wow, there's a lot of things going on. Lol. Being here in New Jersey isn't always fun. Because I born and raised in California and moved here when I just turned 18. After about 2 years and a half..nothing is exciting except thunderstorm. :pout

Traffic is exciting! Oh oh and the smog! Which we've actually been lucky to not get this year.
Oh oh and snow! we get it! Yay snow!
Then again I'm not all that knowledgable about North Jersey, so I really couldn't say. South Jersey though, something "neat" is always findable with a half hour drive :)

Remember those words...for they shall probably come back to haunt you! :sing
