Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

So I found myself talking about the new game 'Dead Island' coming out this month and Michael Vicks 100 million dollar, 6 year deal yesterday while buying a gift card at Gamestop. I'm a little ashamed at what I'll admit to knowing when the guy behind the counter has such pretty blue eyes.

Ok so, some of you already know, but I can share with the rest now that I am all settled in my room and don't have any visitors at the moment to keep me busy.

My kidney stone turned out not to be a kidney stone.

for the last few months or more I thought I was gaining weight, my belly was bogger, my non low waisted jeans didn't fit so great. So over the summer I tried to get more excersize and eat better, no soda, just water, and as many veggies as I could get. No luck.:(

turns out it didn't matter. I wasnt fat either, I have a tumor growing beside my kidney, that is currently about the size of a football.

Its shoving all of my organs to my right side, and making itself quite comfortable in there, and the doctors don't quite know what to do about it. Lucky me, its rare too.

They can't deciide if they should biopsy or not, surgery, or not, or what. They are assembling a team of doctors for a conference sometime next week and I guess then they will decide. I really really hope they figure out how to take it out. I am really really scared.

Aw, Lessa :/ Glad to hear from you, though. And I know that you know we are all here for you and love you lots!! I'll be thinking of you! As Roz said, if there's anything we can do!! <3 <3 <3

I am so glad that it's a solid mass! If it's a "normal" tumor, you can have it extracted and be done with it with about a month's recovery.

I just went to dinner and a movie with a friend and her husband last night. My friend had a 20-pound tumor removed from about that same area in January of this year, and she's doing great. Let me know if you want her number.

I am thinking of you, and I know that you will be safe, healthy, and happy when all is said and done. And like Roz said, if you need anything, please let us know.

I'm sorry, Lessa. :( I hope the docs can get you fixed up and back on your feet ASAP.

The doctor came in yesterday and said that they had already had their conference about me, and that they did find one surgeon ( out of about 4 or 5) who was willing to do the surgery. This guy is a transplant specialist so hopefully he is really good.

I was hoping to get a weekend pass so I could see my new house and visit my kids for the weekend but they said they have to prep me for surgery on tuesday so no go. :(

On the cool side though, my big brother gifted me with a gaming/graphic laptop that puts my desktop back home to tears. I did bring my hard drive out with me so maybe I can do an art piece or two before then if Poser doesn't freak out trying to transfer from the hard drive to here. :)

There is some guy across the hall puking and before that was chanting... ew.

Yeah you just keep your butt planted missy ;) Cool deal on the laptop at least. Get some chat loaded on there! :D

Whoa, surgery that fast? That's good though, it'll get it over with it!

I've done the whole 'surgery to save my life' thing Twice. I hate hospitals, I hate being a patient, but those 2 surgeons (one when I was 25, and one when I was 45) saved my life both times. What you're going through is no fun, but it's not the end, and you will learn some stuff and come out the other side stronger. Just keep a positive attitude, *know* in your heart that you're going to be ok, and you'll make it through. Yay for doctors! They really are amazing what they can do these days. My thoughts are with you.

well I found out a bit more about what is gonna happen this week.

I actually have three surgeons and their residents. Two of them are transplant surgeons who specialize in kidney, liver, bowel, pancreas and spleen. The other is a vascular surgeon to deal with the major veins that are involved.
On tuesday I will go into surgery and they will be removing the tumor and my right kidney, and possibly parts of my spleen, pancreas and bowel, depending on how the tumor has affected them.
after that I will be put in to a coma for a few days to heal, and on a breathing machine, and after that I will be pretty miserable apparently because even with the drugs they will give me it wont take all the pain away.
If the tumor is what they think it is, and they are 95% sure, then I will need to do some chemo after that, though I am not sure if I start immediately or if itll be after Ive gotten all healed from the surgery

there is a tiny possibility that itll be benign, but I am not counting on that, everyone I have spoken to says Liposarcoma.

Well at least it sounds like they are all hands on deck for ya. They better take good care of ya, or I'll have to fly out there and start punching faces! We don't want that ;)

I don't even know what to say, but I'm sending my love and prayers out to you. Like Eve, I'm glad that you have such an amazing team of medical professionals in your corner.

I suggest stealing the linen and toiletries, Lessa!

Today I ran at 5mph for 12 minutes. I'm pretty sure I'm having a heart attack, but I doubled my best time!!! Someone call 911, woof.

There's a marathon on the 18th here in Tacoma - oh my god I am actually considering it! 6.2 miles along the city coast, yo!
ROzbeans 14 years ago
Catherine starts middle school tomorrow, but the summer has brought me closer to wanting to beat the fuck out of her circle of friends. Pretty much had to hold her while she cried herself to sleep last night. This year is going to be fun.

/sigh

The kid started high school, which so far she loves, but I'm still kind of freaked out by it all. I find if you go for the kneecap you can cause the most pain, Roz. Poor Catherine :(.

I'd love to build up to running a 5k or something. Keep us posted on your marathon goal! That sounds really exciting.
ROzbeans 14 years ago
Cat's 12th birthday is this month, too. I've already banned two fucktard boys from being invited - these two fuckers spent the summer just being cruel to her.

I probably won't do the marathon - really, I'm not a runner and my endurance is shit, but yeah building up to doing something with Mike next year when he's home and we settle in Colorado. Looking forward to that.
