Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

My last job in Alaska had an interesting interview experience. It was between me (10+ sales experience but no medical and I mean NO medical experience) and a phlebotomist (medical experience specific to the job) with no sales experience. I went in wearing a nice button up and slacks. She came in wearing sweats. I shit you not.

I don't remember the "job interview" I had to work at the radiator factory where my parents worked in 1995/96.
I don't really remember much about the job interview I had for the Boy Scout camp. That was with the camp director/park ranger.

My first "official" interview was me dropping off my application in a green t-shirt, sneakers, and shorts about a week before I graduated high school to start at an office supply store. It was with the store manager.

My interview at the last place was buttondown, tie, and slacks; I don't remember if I had on a jacket or not. First it was with an HR rep, followed by the man who would be my manager.

Interview at the college that rejected me (help desk) was jacket, buttondown and tie. It was late May, and I was melting. That was with an HR person, two techies, and the VP of the department.

My interview at the current place was also buttondown, tie, and slacks. It was mid-July, and I had no air in my car, I wasn't about to wear a jacket and sweat through it. It was with the woman who would be my manager, and the VP of the office (which I know now, almost 8 years later, was the first time in a while someone was put through to the second half of the interview so quickly.)

today:

COworker to me: "Hey, do you watch Big Bang Theory?"

Me: Yeah but I've only seen to the end of Season three, and I don't watch it weekly

Coworker: "omg last night's was so funny, especially when..."

really?

So like hi. Been feeling nostalgic lately, remembered this place existed, figured I would come say hi.

I don't even remember what I've posted here, but I'm in the Navy, as a nuke, going to nuke school and learning all the crazy reactor stuff. Gonna be a reactor operator in a couple years. Planning on having my first deployment be to the aircraft carrier in Japan so my wife the baby and I can get that experience.

So how is everybody doing?

PS: Everquest is free to play now.... Seb totally still exists!

Great to hear about the Navy! I remember hearing you enlisted into some military branch. Good field to get into =D Very proud of you. Post pics of the baby!

Figured I'd update this a little since I've neglected the boards in favor of facebook. Damn facebook.

Been 14 months since my surgery and I've lost 80lbs. Been working out for a year now and I'm in better shape now than I was before Catherine. We're settled in Colorado and the kids are doing good in their schools. The weather here is...different lol. We love that it doesn't rain near as much as it does in Washington state, but one day it's 80, the next it's snowing - that's a little odd.

We ended up buying our house around the corner from a couple we knew in Alaska and our neighbors are super awesome. We were the first on this street, it's a new development, but it's building up really fast. We really love Colorado and we plan on retiring here since Mike hits 20 years next year. Trying to talk my parents into moving up here as well, what with my mother recovering from her stroke and dad just being tired from the complete role reversal. My father goes food shopping now - so weird.

Other than that - we're good. =)

Just got back from a week in Vegas, geocaching and seeing the sites and sights.
1500 geocaches, just on ET Highway alone. We probably picked up another 120 easy in Vegas and Rachel.
Dozens of (live) cows
2 (sadly) dead cows
A dozen lizards
A dozen horned toads
7 jackrabbits
4 wild horses, including a foal
Two rattlesnakes
One black widow
One awesome little restaurant/motel with fantastic food and amazing people
Two sonic booms
Two scorpions
A few beetles
A possible chinchilla
One nationally famous Pawn Store
One Zombie Apocalypse Store
One Drive-Thru Wedding Chapel
One hard-fought bout of Mini-Golf
Three rockin' bowling games
One Dam
Hundreds of pictures
A view of a billion stars that I will never forget
A thousand memories

Unfortunately, m'Lady had a much worse week than I did, and I'm trying to get her a bit relaxed since she has most of this week off herself.

So far today:
Quick shopping trip for some "oh crap" items
-Poison Ivy Killer
-Shower cleaner

Found out yesterday that the side of the house behind the fireplace, where the garbage and recycling cans sit, is apparently a hotbed of poison ivy. So I spent 50 bucks on over 2 gallons of PI remover, and sprayed half of one of the containers all along the area and fence where I found it.

I've been cleaning the shower pretty regularly - every week or so I spray it down with windex or shower cleaner, wait the 2-4 minutes, then rinse.
I decided to scrub it today, and discovered that apparently the previous owners hadn't actually /cleaned/ when they left (as they said they had) and wow, you'd think I was washing the side of a mountain with all the dirt that came off.

On the way home from the hardware store I stopped to find a geocache.
The cache lid was on upside down (no idea how it closed), it was totally soaked and there were questionable insect bits inside it.
Come to find out the cache hider had asked to have it adopted from him 3 months ago... so I emailed him and told him I'd do it if he wanted, since I only live a half mile from it.

Nope not at all. I read about it in Game Informer and then looked it up and got silly excited.

Now I have to amp up my computer because I lost interest in mmorpgs long time ago and bought a stock dell about 4 years ago. You can imagine the sheer awesomeness of it. Im upgrading some things now before I prepurchase!

*edit* i only need a video card!

I have tried just about every mmo since EQ and they have all been various levels of crap.

I was super excited about GW2 and then I played the beta. Generally, my interest wanes once I get my hands on it and realize its a flawed product or it doesn't live up to the hype (SWTOR, SWG, EQ2, WOW, Rift, AoC).

This is the ONLY occurrence of me actually being MORE excited after playing it. The graphics of the character and the world art sucks you in and your personal storyline keeps you connected. The gameplay mechanics are awesome... I have not logged into Rift since the first GW2 beta weekend because it basically ruined that game for me. Most of our guild on Rift was in that beta and we were a very active raiding guild who has not raided for the last month lol. GW2 just crushed it, I cant play Rift anymore because it is so flawed by comparison.

I am killing time in WoW on Icecrown with FP until GW2 launches. Cataclysm is a pretty fun expansion and the raid finder and heroic finder is keeping me from getting bored so far.

What class are you looking at playing Dia? I have a mesmer and a guardian to 20 and both are very fun and play completely different from each other. My sig is a picture Roz drew from the screenshots I posted on another thread of my mesmer.

Interested in the world pvp at all? It is seriously AWESOME. I like pvp, but I feel like every MMO has skewed it or messed it up by imbalance or making it all about gear. The only exception was AoC for solo pvp and small group world PVP which actually was fun and pretty balanced (I didnt play DAOC but I hear it was awesome in its pvp). The problem with AoC is their instanced PVP and world pvp and the entire rest of their game was not finished and ridiculously flawed...

by the way, at the moment, at least in beta, the CPU requirements are nuts. On an I series processor no problems, but I tried it on an early Core2Duo with the same video card and RAM and it was lagging during world pvp. The rumor is that right now they are rendering graphics on the CPU instead of the GPU so that should get better by launch which at the moment is rumored to be around August 2012.

You have made me more excited!

I feel the same way, after EQ nothing has compared. I couldnt get into WoW at all.

Im very interested in a Mesmer, maybe a Necro and a Ranger. lol i cant decided. Def a Mesmer to start. I'm a Shadow Knight type of girl, I like to be able to tank/pull a little yet have some spell action as well. GW2 PvP sounds interesting, I want to check it out for sure. Are they setting it to where you enter into the combat area and everyone becomes equal? am I guessing that right?

I like all the character story and the ability to solo without missing out half the game. I work from 3-11pm so I'd play in the day which equals alone or with europeans. =)

Im half tempted just to buy a new computer but husband is already complaining about upgrading the computer. We plan on purchasing a Mac for our next computer due to his line of work (and love of all things apple) So if i go and buy another pc he will be heart broken. Im hoping the lag factor wont be too bad with my processor.

Thanks for all the great info! I didnt think it was possible to be even happier about a game

So i went tooling around on your post found your screenshots and that you were also supporting sk love in eq.

Awesome screenshots! They are better than what the website puts out because I wanted more characters shots basically.

I was not a SolRo'er, Bertoxx land for me.
