Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

The chicken pox can be deadly! That's why they are vaccinating against it now. It's especially bad in infants and older people. According to my mother I had it as an infant and nearly died. I also had it when I was 7 and again when I was 14. When I went to have James they tested my blood for everything under the sun it seems and I wasn't immune to something (measles maybe?) so they gave me an immunization shot for it.

Wow, in the UK people actually have chicken pox parties if a kid comes down with it, to get the others over and done with it too. The older you get the worse it hits you, so parents rather get it over and done with in primary school. It's very rare to get them a second time, its usually measles if you get it again.

I had it, i remember being miserable for 2 weeks and not getting to go to school, and then gave it to my brothers. Tristan got the shot against it whe he was just a baby, hes 13 now and it seems to work fine.

I got the pox just before Kindergarten graduation, so I didn't get to go. Still have a chest scar from where I tore one off sliding down a two-part canopy pole where the top half inserted into the bottom. Screamed my head off, I did.

I've always heard it's painful as an adult, but I don't know what that means. It was kinda like acne for me when I had it as a kid. Didn't really feel like anything until they were hit or scraped. Do they just feel like open wounds to an adult, or is it a different type of pain, like full body soreness?

A coworker recently got Chicken Pox. He's in his 40s. He was out of commission for a month.

My sister had it twice. The first time was really minor; the second time it was so bad she got the sores in her throat and ear canals.

I'd rather my kids actually get it, than get the vaccination.

they require kids to get the vaccine in order to go to school in most states, just like their mmr (measels mumps rubella) and dpt and all that.

lol that's how my family was. My 2 cousins, my sister and I all had them about a week apart. I think at the time the oldest was maybe 14.

It just seems very strange since I didn't have to have one growing up. My son has his shots but I was like whaaaaa? when they said about chicken pox. hehe

I had them around the age of 8, but not nearly as bad as my brothers, who both got bumps in their mouths, nostrils, and ears...they were literally covered in them.

With my daughter I never tried to keep her away from anyone exposed, hoping she would get them over with too. When she was about eight she got a few bumps around her waist, and that was it. Apparently her immunities were very strong.

We were both recently vaccinated with TDP (same as DPT but for some reason they changed the order :P) because whooping cough is making a comeback. No one ever suggested we get vaccinated for chicken pox again though.

Ever since we switched to a wireless router our internet has been complete shit. I'm downloading at a whopping 20 kb/ps. Think it's time to call teh cable company and have them come hook up a cable line upstairs so we can just get a grounded connection. This blows.
Lillyanna-Windmane 16 years ago
Yikes, hope you don't have anybody leeching off of yours. We love our wireless, just have to keep it super secure.
Jetamio 16 years ago
I have wireless too and its the best I've ever had.

I've had like 3 different wireless cards go bad, and never had a good connection in multiple places of living - I stick to plugged in

Living in the middle of nowhere doesn't help. They don't even have cable internet here just (7mb/ps) DSL. I keep telling erik to just go buy me the friggin cable and I will figure out how ot get it upstairs but he won't :(

Stretching a cable line from somewhere else in the house can degrade the signal so it is better to have the cable dudes come out and do it. =/

I have a land line downstairs in my office but have a wireless router on my computer so the kids can use their XBox live accounts up in their rooms. They dont seem to have any lag, and Ive had people visit with laptops that also seem to have no trouble.

Seems like we're just unlucky =\ Just got home from the ER. The dog bit Jamie's face, not too bad but better to have it looked at then not. Now I have no dog.
Lessa 16 years ago
aww :(

you cant be too careful with dog bites, My son was bitten by the neighbor's dog and I treated it at home, but after a few days his arm started to turn red and it was spreading. Dog bites are puncture wounds and you can clean them all you want but they shove their nasty germs down under the tissue and it cant really be cleaned out. We ended up having to take him to the dr for antibiotics which cost us 100 bucks plus the 75 for the visit. :/

I'm so sorry about your dog Laschae :(. I hope Jamie is okay.

Lessa I think your neighbor should pay you back your medical expenses at a minimum.
Laschae 16 years ago
Yea the dog was great til we had the baby then he got jealous and really mean toward James so I'm just happy it wasn't worse, an inch one way or the other and James would be without eyes. I hope that the animal shelter can find Sammy a nice home without any little kids but it's out of my hands.

The ER Dr. told us about how bad dog bites can be but since the bites weren't very deep to just keep an eye on it if it gets red and gave us eye ointment since the bite was so close to Jamie's eyes. What a crappy Saturday.
