Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

It really doesn't feel that long!

CeCe reads alot. Since Kami didn't learn to read til she was in 2nd grade (the second time) she doesn't read big books yet but it is amazing to know 2 years ago she couldn't read and now she can.

Hell, I didn't completely read a book from beginning to end (I skimmed) until high school. The Harry Dresden series is the first one I've actually completed (it's on book 11) and I was 35. I read to book 6 of the original D&D books, but I skimmed all the way through. I probably only read 2 of them completely. =x I am SUCH a slow reader. Catherine read her 'Diary of a wimpy kid' books in 1 day. Granted they're 200 pages with pictures, but she put me to shame.

I just bought her book 1 of the Percy Jackson - Olympic Gods...blah blah series. I hope she likes that one.

I had no friends so I read a lot as a kid. Or maybe I had no friends because I read a lot as a kid?

I baby sat a LOT from about the age of 13 on, and that's when I started reading. I read biographies the most (Helen Keller, Anne Frank, etc.) until I secretly grabbed my mom's copy of Valley of the Dolls, when I was about 14 or 15, and from then on I was totally into smut! lol Though I also got into Robert Heinlein about that age too. I fell in love with Stranger in a Strange Land. Nothing else I read impacted me as much as those two books did, in building up my interest to read. Not sure if that is good or not! :P

I think the White Stallion and Hellen Keller were the first books i read all by myself.. Hellen Keller at the time was my fave.. It had the braille alphabet on the back of the book but I couldnt read it with my fingers >< hehe

I didnt really get into reading though til prolly 4th grade.. the babysitter's club and books like that, then nancy drew and sweet Valley High in 5th/6th

Tristan doesnt like to read anything with less than 300 pages, he reads them too fast. He absolutely loved the series by Rick Riordan, the Lightning Thief and the rest of that series, if any of you are interested in kid/teen friendly books. He also loves the Pendragon Series.

right now hes working on a few series, I just bought him the second and third Casandra Claire books (City of Glass etc), hes also getting the Looking Glass Wars for christmas.

I ordered a MIDI controller keyboard from Guitar Center on 11/08 because the stupid manufacturer won't sell it directly. They were out of stock, but they were supposed to be coming in the following Monday. Then Monday rolled around and the date got pushed back. And then again. And again. And again. AND AGAIN. And then again, today. I called and they said the next shipment is supposed to be coming in on 12/27. Good thing this wasn't for somebody's Christmas present. I called around and checked on the web and nobody else has it, either.

On a completely unrelated note, I hate when I try to drink from an unopened soda can.

I can't remember not being able to read. Just one of those things I took to instantly I guess lol. I didn't read alot in younger years, simply because the books they had at school didnt interest me, but if I found a book I liked, I read it over and over again. I remember on my 7th birthday getting a pile of books from some relative or something, with one word per page and pictures, at which I made a face and handed it to my 3 year old brother. I was quite mortified at being given 'baby' books lol.

Mum finally gave in when she found me reading the Yellow Pages, and let me loose on her bookshelf. I wasn't allowed the horror books (I was a coward anyway so probably for the best), but I was reading Virginia Andrews at age 9, the Flowers in the Attic series. After I 'gobbled' those 5 books up in like a week, she let me read some of Dean Koontz's and James Herberts books.

My Mum never listened to me read, and I gave up asking her to listen, and signed the homework sheet myself >.< But I guess from reading to myself from such a young age, I find it really hard to read aloud, simply because I read too fast and my mouth cant keep up. Does that even make sense? lol. I used to get really frustrated at school when they wouldn't move me up a reading level fast enough. I used to tell the teacher that I read 400+ page books at home, and she'd just nod her head and smile. /Sigh lol.

Makes sense to me; I seem to have the same problem.

When I ran out of books to read, I would hit the Encyclopedia for hours, just reading about random stuff. I still do it, thanks to Wikipedia. All those links! I'll look at one article and open up 10 new tabs on my browser every time I see a link that looks interesting, or unknown to me. <3 <3 wikipedia <3 <3

Oh, and when my sister and I went to get our first library cards, they almost wouldn't give them to us (I was 4, she was 5), which made my mother *very* upset. The librarian refused to believe we could read, or even sign our own names. Way to promote literacy, you ignorant fuck!

Catherine went to her first tween dance tonight with her little 4th grade friends. Some of them actually dressed up - suit and tie, frilly dresses. Catherine wore her black Team Edward shirt and jeans. O_o She had a good time, but good gravy the anxiety. I kept asking Mike, 'So should I go over there and check up on her.'

'No, Roz.'
'You sure?'
'Yes, Roz.'

(time passes)

'So I'm going to go over there?'
'No, Roz.'

(grumble - pukes)

She made it out ok, but Mike was nasty enough to ask me, 'So what if you walk in on her kissing a boy?' as I was getting out of the Jeep to get her. I about fell onto the sidewalk. I'm going to have a gigantic hole where my stomach used to be by the time she finishes high school. =/

So getting stuck in the mountains during a blizzard could have sucked more had we not gotten off the road when we knew it was gonna get bad, but ugh! Two days in a hotel, get up and head out to finish the rest of the trip that would normally have taken 4.5 hours, and have it take over 9 hours because of some bumper to bumper traffic and some roads still being nasty because they either didn't plow them at all, or didn't do a very good job. Ugh! Have never been so glad to be home I swear. If we'd realized what was coming at us Friday morning, we could have just stayed at my folks' and enjoyed another two days on our vacation :(

This week (and maybe next) we're watching Cat's bff so her parents don't have to fork out the dough to send her to the child age development thingy (daycare for 10 year olds). I'm fine with it because the little girl is such a sweet little thing when she's here. She adores David and plays with him and somewhat keeps Cat out of trouble lol.

However, today I'm forcing Catherine to let me do her hair and wear a pretty outfit and I'm taking her and her brother to the BX to get a picture with Santa. We passed the Santa shop on the way to pick up a xmas gift for Mike's step-grandpa and he looked so lonely sitting there. Even the helper was like half asleep. Figured it would be super super busy. Hopefully it won't be today. I just wonder if David will sit still for the picture or if he'll attack Santa. O_O
