Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

Mark McGwire lied. Anyone else not surprised?

Im not...

But at least he came out with some closure and justified everyones suspicions about him. Im glad he came out and admitted it all. I think he'll finally be forgiven.

Also had my sister take her computer in for something to be done for it, and they put a keylogger on her computer, managing to hack into each account she had within a day of her logging into them (even if it was weeks apart)

What was done about this? Did yall confront them on it?

I'd confront them with a pipe bomb.

ROFL

David locked me out of the house today. I had to have the 16 year old neighbor fall in (not climb, fall) through Catherine's window. He took one step and said, 'Do you have a dog?'

'Oh yeah, she won't bite you.'

He stood there for a couple seconds lol.

I don't think it should matter. Mike and I were talking about this last night and we both agreed that steroids should be legal to use in sports so at the very least it can be regulated. It makes you wonder though - how are guys nowadays breaking records from the guys back in the 50s, 60s, 70s? Did it take steroids to be better than those guys who had natural talent or is it possible that they were taking something to enhance their performance too?

Another guy Mike brought up that he thinks will admit it too - Cal Ripkin. What was his record? Most consecutive games played? 10-11 YEARS? Tell me he wasn't taking something to not sit out one game due to an injury - playing a sport that is known for blown out knees, elbows, and joints? If he did, so what - but it would explain a lot.

I was talking to my brother, who used steroids his Sr year in HS when he played football. He was telling me that steroids didnt make him physically stronger....It just helped him perform above and beyond what his normal threshold was. When done right, roids give you more stamina and fuel and they do help you with injuries etc.

Anyway - I think steroids have effected some players, depending on their role. However, Mark Mcgwires HR record should not be tarnished by him using roids. Roids from what im told, dont magically make you into the Incredible Hulk, where your jacking home runs out of the stadium every time out. Or where your all roided out and ripping Quarterbacks heads off and all the sudden become some unblockable monster.

I mean, Mark McGwire is naturally a big dude...one of the bigger baseball players ive ever seen.

I find it odd though - When people hear about NFL players taking steroids nobody really gives a shit and its like "its to be expected" - However, when you hear about a MLB player taking steroids.......all hell breaks loose and people want to take the shit to Supreme Court and have a month long trial about it.....Maybe a double standard going on in sports? I dunno.

I think steroids are fine along with HGH. The fans love to see their players perform and perform at high levels.....IMO it puts a better product on the field.

Anyway - I feel that athletes today take better care of themselves then they did back during the 70s and below and its just a whole different era with different medicines and techniques of taking care of yourself....like, 20 years ago, if you tore your ACL/MCL, your career is over, but not today, they'll have you up and running again in a year or less...and also, dont forget, I hate to say this, but there are more African Americans in sports these days then back then....especially in the NFL and they are just naturally better/gifted at what they do than white boys are. Back in the 60s for example and even some in the 70s, you had quite a few white running backs running the ball....now days, all you see are brothas who can run 4.2 40 yard dashes......that speed is unheard of and the sheer speed of todays NFL, is amazing on many levels....you just gotta see a game in person to really appreciate how fast these guys are moving around out there.......take the pads off, and someone would get killed out there.

6'5 330 pound men who can run 4.6 40s isnt something to sneeze at lol

Not sure it counts as a steroid, but I regularly used creatine when I used to not be so lazy and worked out regularly. If most steroids work like that, increase stamina and help flush bad stuff out of your muscles, I don't see the big deal in using them myself.

Catherine asked what we were talking about and I could tell she didn't quite understand when I said, 'Human growth hormone', so I said this:

'Remember that new Rambo movie that came out?'
'Yeah...'
'Remember the guy with the long black hair?'
'Yeah...'
'How big and buff he was? Pretty strong looking, right?'
'Yeah!'
'Yeah well he's in his 60's Catherine.'
Mike adds, 'He's as old as your Papas.'
'WHAT?!!"

Exactly lol

The Blizzard Authenticator is free if you download the cell phone app..

If they had an option for the Palm Pre, I woulda gone for it when I first got the phone.

I think all hell would break loose around here if Cal Ripkin announced he used steroids. I'm sure a lot of people would really feel let down and Baltimore would definitely take it hard.

people want to take the shit to Supreme Court and have a month long trial about it

That's the most ridiculous part of the whole fiasco. What business does any of that have doing in the Supreme Court? That just shows you how much money is involved... and how pathetic our so-called "justice" system has become.

And you're right about what steroids do. They don't magically make you stronger... you still have to work for the muscle (They do, however, magically make muscles larger by way of muscular hypertrophy). I guess they're illegal because of all the negative side-effects, such as: death.

Oh I love my house.. just hate the last 100 years worth of craptastic home maitenence thats been done to it.

I mean.. if they had just stuck insulation in when they took down the lathe and plaster and put up the drywall.. I prolly wouldnt even get frozen pipes in there.. right?

Not necessarily
Kelefane 16 years ago
Leave your water facets dripping over night during a freeze and you wont ever see frozen pipes.

I wish I could get Gel Lights working in Daz Studio 3 x_x
Lessa 16 years ago
Yeah we usually do, just last time apparently wasnt dripping enough.. The insulation the hubby put round the pipes seems to help then.. the kitchen is still very cold though.

If we had the money to put up new cabinets in there Id be all for taking down the walls and having them done right. (Hubby was a home renovator when we loved in Phoenix, so he can do it properly) He pulled the washing machine cause it too had broken, and there are huge gaps between the drywall boards behind it and we have drafts coming in through the wall sockets and from inside the cabinets. Im fairly positive that if the work had been done right the first time we wouldnt have these issues.

Its the only room that bad, but most of the rooms have their plaster walls still, and the upstairs bathroom had been insulated. (It only froze cause when they installed the shower they closed off the heat vent )
