Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

My father in law was talking about 'ghetto style basketball' being brought into the NBA by the black players the other day over dinner while we were discussing Catherine's rather aggressive defensive bball skills. I did a double take and looked at Mike who kind of raised his eyebrows and continued eating. Ok, I let it go. He brought it up 2 more times in like 5 mins and finally I put my fork down and sighed.

'Really...you are the whitest man I know.'

Mike snorted while eating but again, didn't comment.

Take a deep breath, Fae, and tell Derrik's dad a painfully obvious observation about him. It'll confuse him and make you laugh.

hehe, i'll try that next time, its annoying having someone who wasnt even there for their own kids to tell us how badly were doing -.-*

first time i overly pissed was when he kept giving the kids soda after time and time again i told him no. we give clover soda (mist) once in awhile and very little of it. well he finally pushed the button i got all the soda he was giving the kids and dumped it down the drain and told him if he gives anymore his is going down there too!

If I didn't have to worry about my daughter's work schedule (we carpool), I'd love that shift. But then I'm a night person.

Why do I have to have such a consience? My dad wants me to fly back to the UK for my Grans 70th, and I can't leave Canada. Nor do I really have any desire to go back to the UK for anything or anyone. But I feel guilty as hell cos I know I'm not going to go and they are going to be pissed at me. I'll never hear the end of it. But trying to please my family instead of myself is what fucked me up in the first place and I don't want to go back to that. Which is exactly what will happen if I go back.

Ugh our new washer and dryer came yesterday and Erik is trying to put it together and keeps having me run down to the basement and he has the back door that goes out to the driveway open and it must be about 20 degrees out. We got new washer/dryer and a new dishwasher this week. I love playing assistant and trying to find the tools he needs because they are literally scattered all over the house.

He has one he just doesn't use it. It's driving me nuts!!! Then when he can't find something we go on an egg hunter for whatever it is he's left around.

So, my 15 year old step daughter (Hubbys first marriage) sent us a couple letters and some pictures in the mail today. It's been ages since they have seen each other, only recently have they have gotten back in touch with one another.
Her writing is worse than mine! She has terrible, terrible spelling, she blames it on texting too much. The poor girl isn't in school for some reason I assume we aren't hearing the full of it, just Home school. In her letters she is saying how boring Arkansas is and how she doesn't like it, I almost think she's fishing to come here. She turns 16 in July and was talking about getting a job to have money. We have zero room and are in need of moving ourselves. I don't know how I could turn her down, but I don't know her. :(
She has started calling me, "mom" and she doesn't even know me. Maybe I'm strange, but this whole thing is very different to me. I'm 30 years old and only finally am I having contact with someone half my age wanting to call me mom.

We are having to take my son through evaluations and everything else for his delays in everything. To add in our step daughter and all of this on my plate already It's all just starting to wear on me.
Sorry, I just kind of needed to get it out and wasn't sure where else to say it.

I made him gather up all his tools he had in the kitchen now they're in 2 plastic bags on the table....maybe next week they will make their way to the basement where they belong. Miracles could happen.

It would be weird to have some kid you don't know calling you mom but maybe her little fishing trip letter is to try and reach out to you guys?

Maybe see if she can visit for the summer, just to feel things out? You'll never know her if you dont give her a chance, and she may be hurting to know her daddy.

She's at the age where alot of kids run away, I know my hubby did when he was 15.

My step mom was 30 when she married my dad, and I was 15. I've never felt comfortable calling anyone besides my mom, mom though. Same with the guy my mom married. A friend of my daughter's started calling me mom when my daughter was about 9, and that always made me feel weird too, though my own mom said to accept it as a compliment. Fortunately we moved away shortly thereafter. I think a son-in-law would be ok...but until I experience it, I'm not even sure about that.
